UCS-C210 Firmware

When I try to update the firmware via TFTP I get an error message Image_CRC_Failure on the web and CLI.  I tried to re - upload the image and I tried several versions of the image.  I also tried the upgrade via the web and I get to 5%, and the system hangs.  When I try to log in I get this error message: "this browser has already a MMIC session. Only one session is allowed by the browser. You must log on to the other session, connect with a new session. "I click on the link"Logout of the other session", but I can not always log in.  I have to completely power off the server for the Web to become available.  When I say "shut down", I want to say that I physically remove the cable from the back and wait 10 seconds.

Could someone tell me please the right way with these 2 questions?  It is the first time that I had the chance to work with the UCS-C210 and I'm about to say that I'm not impressed because this isn't the first question that I met.  I like Cisco and I won't get that far right now.

Any help is appreciated,

Terry

Hello Terry,

These types of problems are usuing the fault of a Windows TFTP server cause CRC errors.   Have you tried downloading interface Web of another client by chance?

Have you tried the HUU (Host Update Utility)?  It's an ISO you just go up and it will update all FW components as you like.

You can get it here:

http://www.Cisco.com/Cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=283862069&flowid=25882&softwareid=283850974&release=1.4%281C%29&relind=available&rellifecycle=&RelType=latest

* Note the name of the file will be called something like "ucs -c200- huu - x.x.x.iso", but that's fine.  The C200 and C210 are the same basic architecture, and this package is compatible with both.

As for your other questions, you can configure the MMIC to allow multiple connections: it's under Admin settings or Communication, I think.  By resetting the MMIC (not disturbing for the host operating system), you can clear all 'stuck' sessions.

Let me know how you go and we'll get you squared away, I promise you.

Kind regards

Robert

any ideas as to why the power supply fans are vivid?

    Hi Robert,.

I guess I must also point out that your two servers have two different versions of them supply systems which explains the differences of stabilized power supply fan accelerates even after having worked around the bug, in my opinion, one of the servers may have met.  UCS-c200 has older PSUS that have two fans online so that fans can run a low speed to maintain the required temperature.  UCS-c210 m2 has newer power supplies that have only a single fan in them so they run the fans at higher speeds to maintain the required temperature.

  • Cisco UCS C210 M2: PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of

    Hello

I'm working on Cisco UCS C210 M2 servers. I got 10 146 GB SAS HD with LSI MegaRAID Raid Controller. I did run the Raid Controller and choose RAID6. After that I installed ESXi and it said to reboot the server. Now, when I restart the server I get the following error message:

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of

PXE - M0F: Exit Boradcom PXE ROM

Restart, and then select proper boot service

or Insert Boot Media in some boot device and press a key

Any suggestions how I can solve this problem.

    Thank you.

You will need to go into the Bios of the controller LSI MegaRaid (Ctrl + H) and select the option of virtual drives on the left. When the virtual command window opens, you must select the drive (Raid Volume) on which you want your drive master boot and underneath there will be an option to set as your boot device. Apply and save.

  • New UCS-C210 problem with video monitor output

    Hi all

We just bought a new Cisco UCS C210 M2 product for our CUCM migration to Virtual Machines. We plugged a HP monitor and a USB keyboard to start work with the UCS. Then we plugged the server to the power supply and turn on the server, the fan worked properly for his initial shot. However, I could not see the monitor up and I can't see if it boots correctly. We waited and notice that the keyboard seems to work as you can see the num and lock the scroll works.

I unplugged the monitor of the connection of the console before the use of the foxconn connector that came with it and plugged into the DB15 port on the back. Same result the monitor does not display anything.

So I went on the second UCS server using the same keyboard and mouse, everything works.

Any who know this problem of the screen does not? If so, please share how to fix it.

Otherwise, our conclusion would be that Cisco sent us a faulty hardware or it has become defective during the transport.

    Thank you best regards &,.

    Ramon

OK fans turn upwards and then downwards with the lights on the front would indicate to me that the server itself is ok and boot up normally. The fact that you have used this monitor UCS one another in the same way seems to indicate that the problem is probably with this server and a video on the issue. I suggest to open a TAC case and include these steps you have taken. If you can, try reinstalling all your memory and boot up the server again.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello everyone

I doubt that the raid 10 (1 + 0) that several sources indicated that they need 4 hard drives, however I have read elsewhere that are required to at least 2 disks.

I could indicate if UCS C210 M2 Server is that you can configure RAID 10 with two 300 GB hard drives each.

I currently have a case for it with cisco, but I thought that I post to the community to seek one advises...

    I have 2 ucs c210 servers,

    The two are almost identical.

Ucs1 - has 24 sons of CPU power and 32 GB of ram,

Ucs2 - has 16 sons of CPU and 48 gb of ram.

Other then that they both have the same server - win2k8 r2 running hyperv bones

Same raid configuration and even hard disks.

UCS 1 becomes significantly more high IOPS / s

This becomes increasingly more clear when a comment server benchmarking.

Joined landmarks of comments on each server (migration)

I swapped the raid under wty with Cisco card, but the performance was not improved.

    Then.

Other thoughts about the large performance difference?

  • Cisco UCS-C210 M1 accredited for Unified Communications server

    Hello:

Our VAR tells us that HP and Cisco are splitting up.  We are an HP store today and 7800-H series MCS routers were a perfect fit.  Our VAR tells us now that he must go with the renamed IBM systems.  BUT I would avoid the IBM servers.  And attractive servers Cisco.  But I have been unable to determine if the Cisco UCS-C210 M1 server is certified for various applications of Unified Communications (Manager of Communications, unity, Cisco Emergency Responder, ICM, CVP, etc.).

Has anyone heard of Communications deployments unified on the hardware of the UCS?

    Thank you

UCS blades are being qualified for management of the applications of the CPU now. The qualification of rack mount server is expected, specifically the C210 later this summar I think.

  • UCS-C210-M2 on the problem of gigabit ethernet ports.

I have 2 x C210 M2 with 2 mother board gigabit ethernet ports and 4 gigabit ethernet ports on a PCI card ports.

PCI 4 port cards work fine.

On the 2 ports on the motherboard, I have a problem with ESXi 4.1:

My 2 ports is auto-negotiation and on the vsphere client speed and duplex of the ports are always displayed correctly.

The switch network where the server is connected is a C-3560.

I use this server for Unified Communications, one I see the problem on downloading large files.

With a virtual machine connection of the unit, when I want to download a file of locale (language file - 650 MB to 1 GB)

The download progress is displayed in MB and it progresses very slowly as 1 MB every many seconds.

Whereas, when I use a map PCI 4 port gigabit port, I can see the progression to go at a speed of tens of MB in the same period.

The only way to have growth to proceed more quickly with the 2 on the main Board gigabit ports, is to set the speed of the 3560 switch

10 Mbps and half duplex. In this case, when we look at the client vsphere, the gigabit on the server port negotiates to 10 MB - half Dupl.

and the progress is constant and much faster that it is at this time to 1000 Gb/s Full Dupl.

    Someone has an idea.

  • Drive of DVD in UCS C210 M2 Server does not

    Hello

In one of our UCS C 210 M2 Server, the DVD player does not work. Whenever I use a bootable CD, it does not start using this CD. When I checked the option of boot command I don't see the CD/DVD drive. Then I checked in the BIOS and found that DVD player is not visible in the BIOS also.

Is there anyway to make this work.   The CD/DVD drive is a SATA.

    Krishna.

    Krishna,

If you do not see in the BIOS, try and make sure the SATA cable is in place in the DVD player and the chassis. Or, possibly, put back the cable.

  • Firmware for UCS C200 M2

I wonder if I'm missing some existing documents?

There is not just a simple DVD I can load into the server and run all the firmware updates?

    Cisco does it provide?

I tried to look through the site and hoped that I didn't have to enumerate all parts of my servers and have to find updates for them individually.

The best links that I could find are attached to this message as a screenshot.

  • Servers on C210 M2 all becomes inaccessible

We have 2 servers UCS C210 M2 in 2 different places. In the 2 months, they each had the servers configured on them stops responding (including ESXi host) and we are forced to restart the MMIC so that servers back online. Initially the TAC tells us it was due to this bug: https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtw68712

We installed the update of firmware for each system and they were quiet for a month. Last Friday, one of the servers has shown the same behavior and we were forced to reboot again. TAC now tells us that the problem is due to a combination of the battery from the RAID controller that needs to be replaced, the firmware ESXi that need to be updated (Version 00.00.04.14.18 - 1vmw, version: 348481, must be 00.00.05.33) and that the pilot of the MAP must be updated (version: 2.0.7d - 3vmw, should be 2.2.1i.v41.1.)

Has anyone meet a similar problem? Have you noticed anything that has helped solve your problem?

If she says that it was fixed at 1.43 (c), I remember having the same problem that release as well.

the key is to disable the interrupt remapping first to WOOD - restart

then also disable it in the esxi - restart.

    If you did that?

also, I suggest upgrading to 1.43u or v.  1.4 (3 c) is not yet in the list of the firmware to download on the cisco Web site.  either its been delayed or cisco do not want us to use it.

    Thank you

  • First Firmware update

We had our UCS B Series chassis for almost 2 years now and it's time to update the firmware of 2.0(3b) at latest.  This is uncharted territory so I wanted to get some feedback from those who have already updated their firmware.  Our servers are B230 M2s and M3s B200 all deployed with the same model of Service profile.  We have 2 Web of interconnections.  All servers are part of a VMware cluster.

I used this Cisco document as reference to prepare the update: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/upgrading/from2-0/to2-1/b_UpgradingCiscoUCSFrom2-0To2-1.html

What I'm not clear on is the steps (which is about everything, there) and I hope that someone can confirm that I have it in the right order.

    1. Step 1.  Download Cisco's UCS Infrastructure support downloads software package.  Also download the Bundle of software Cisco UCS B-Series Blade Server.  I would use the most recent of the two.
    2. Step 2.  Through the UCS Manager, download firmware on the firmware Management tab.  Here, I have the ability to download locally or on a remote server and then recover via a protocol such as TFTP.  Given the option, a local download seems easier.
    3. Step 3.  Install the firmware downloaded to the fabric of the interconnections.  Activate the firmware only on subordinate FI.
    4. Step 4. Update the firmware of the Infrastructure.  Because our UCS is 2.0, we can use the Firmware Auto Install feature. First of all, we are updating MMIC and IOM. Here, I would go in each server individually and click on general, then tab to update Firmware.  Activate the firmware. This restarts the server? The firmware for the adapters is transferred to the INSTITUTION to step 2?
    5. Step 5. Activate the Cisco UCS Manager software via the management of the equipment of the node of the Firmware tab.  Replace the most recent version.
    6. Step 6. Activate the firmware for the IOM. Even as UCS Manager
    7. Step 7. Subordinate the FI for the FI upgrade failover.  Update the firmware on the FI not updated.
    8. Step 8. Update the firmware from the host.  Under Server-policies, we have only a firmware from the host defined.  The only thing to check is the BIOS - an option tab is checked for each of the two servers UCS models we have.  Whence the firmware it come from?  He was included in the package of Infrastructure UCS software?

And these are the steps that I understand them.  I would really appreciate any corrections or additions.  Thanks for the help.

You can go directly from 2.0 to 2.2

Upgrade Cisco UCS version 2.0 to version 2.2

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/unified_computing/UCS/SW/upgrading/From2-0/TO2-2/b_UpgradingCiscoUCSFrom2-0To2-2.html

Steps 1 and 2 must be made

Actually, the following steps describe the manual process of upgrading.

However, there is a much easier way; installation auto resp infrastructure servers. (based on host firmware packages).

    (3) as a first step, upgrade UCS Manager for example. 2.2.1c and then you have the automatic installation menu options.

    (4) installation automatic infrastructure

    (5) automatic installation servers

See, for example. Cisco UCS series B Guide to the management of the GUI Firmware, version 2.2

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/unified_computing/UCS/SW/firmware-Mgmt/GUI/2-2/b_GUI_Firmware_Management_22.html
