  • Who is the best SSD 500GBs in an early 2011 Mac Book Pro?

I just updated my RAM to 4GBs to 16GBs in May 2011 beginning 15 "MacBook Pro, now I'm looking to upgrade my computer with an SSD. I'm looking for some 500GBs because 1 TB is too expensive for me right now. Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much!

The only thing I can say, is that the only true upgrade in today's world is a Solid State Drive. Now you can go to Crucial.com and get a 480 GB ssd for 139.99 or a 500 GB for about 159.99 about. A regular HARD drive could cost you half, but it's so worth the extra mulah.

  • What is the Windows Security Center and is compatible with Avast antivirus Protection?

I installed a paid for version of Avast on my Windows XP computer. (I won't be upgrading to a more modern version of Windows.)

I also called Windows Security Center.

Is the Windows Security Center virus protection, or is it simply a place to control and discover whatever you have antivirus protection?

If it is a virus protection, it would hurt Avast and if so can I uninstall it?

If I removed Avast and didn't have Windows Security Center, I should any type of protection against viruses on my computer?

The only type of protection against viruses in addition to Avast, I am sure that I have on my computer is Windows Firewall. I turned that off and am now strictly protected by the firewall of Avast. Windows Security Center notifies me of cannot have two firewalls upwards at the same time.

If Windows Security Center antivirus protection it would do no harm to leave it on if the firewall is disabled and Avast is installed? Part of Windows Firewall Security Center Windows or another program?

    Guesses are welcome. Thank you.

    Hey there Clinton!

I've identified two questions here, your normal text questions and my answers in bold:

Is the Windows Security Center virus protection, or is it simply a place to control and discover whatever you have antivirus protection?

Windows Security Center is not a virus protection it's just simply a place to control and view the status of the installation of malware * protection software, but also the firewall on your computer.

Part of Windows Firewall Security Center Windows or another program?

Windows Firewall is a separate component.

Does Avast! Damaged, if I have another antivirus running program?

It is not clear what might happen, but software may conflict with each other and may not work as expected.

I hope that I have answered all your questions!
    Sincerely,
    -Alex

    * - Malware is the generic term for all malicious software in the calculation. The virus is actually a sub-category.

  • What is the latest version of Firefox, which works with Windows ME?

We recently had a portable older Gateway that we use only as an internet point. Unfortunately, it is currently running Windows ME and I don't even know if it has all the technical features to be upgraded (and certainly not for Vista, which is the only thing that we have an installation disc for). The vehicle currently has Firefox 2.0.0.20, which of course contains many security holes and is not compatible with most of the newer plugins. What is the best version of Firefox that works with Windows ME, and it is still available for download? Thank you!

Sorry, Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last version made for WinME.

What is the best strategy to migrate data from Windows to one Mac to another? I use Parallels Desktop to run Windows on my current Mac but want to use Bootcamp on my new.

If it is only the data (not apps) I use Dropbox. It turned out to be the best way to move things between the side Mac and the bootcamped Windows of my iMac side. I don't see why it would not work to move data from a virtual machine installation of Win to a BootCamp installation.

  • HP iq 504: what SSD is compatible with my PC?

Hi, someone told me upgrade my HDD for SSDrive will boost the performance of my computer. I think of buying an SSD for my computer, I have an all in one computer HP IQ 504, its has been slow but still doesn't work and can work normally when optimzied. My question is, am not really sure that SSD is compatible with my computer and I don't have that a budget of $300, is there a good SSDrive I could buy for $100 - $ 300? How do I know if its compatible with my PC? This is the computer I use at the moment: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-TouchSmart-Desktop-PC-series/3733137/model/3752238 is an all ine one pc, I bought 6-7 years ago and now I have window 10 operating system installed on it. Your computer uses full size 3.5 inch wide disc as with a desktop computer. SSD are 2.5 inches wide and thinner. You will need to get a 3.5 inch to 2.5 inch adapter and an SSD. But any current SSD model works perfectly and your budget is a lot to get a good. A 500 or 512 GB SSD is now less than $200. I have remommend Samsung 850 Evo of the SSD line.

  • With Windows XP Professional X 64 expire, what is the replacement? Windows 8 not compatible.

With Windows XP Professional X 64 expire, what is the replacement? Windows 8 not compatible.

With Windows XP Professional X 64 expire, what is the replacement? Windows 8 not compatible.

Windows XP 64-bit is one of those odd elements that does not quite fit in.  It is based on the code of Windows Server (hence why it only goes back to the SP2 not SP3 as Windows XP did) so it is - upgrade (for purchase in any case) options are limited.  Frankly - Windows XP 64-bit is one of these products, most people should have just skipped (in my opinion) - and with this in mind - the replacement for those running it should be to get Windows Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 64-bit or 64-bit Windows 8.  It there just will be no discount to do on monetary incentive plan.

My suggestion - if your system is good enough, compatible, etc. and you actually * needed * to upgrade (it's not like YOU all just because Microsoft will stop their support extended to it in 2014 - big deal?)  Download Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and clean install.  You can use the free Windows XP (32 bit) MOU to run many older programs, you have * if * you have one that cannot be run under Windows 7 or with the compatibility mode.

In addition - get an unknown computer (for you).  You can find a lease one or something with Windows 7 64-bit, probably for the same amount you'd pay for a version non - OEM Windows 7, pay a little more and you'll probably have a machine that could handle Windows 8 - If you wish.  ;-)
