Hello pansy2006,

You will need to go in the registry to display the list of profiles.
Click the Start button. In the start search box, type: Regedit.
Then highlight:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\SID >
In the left pane, find the S-1-5-21... number. In the right pane, it will display the name of the profile.
What are usually users who have been deleted or the program they were associated is no longer on the computer.

If you can find the exact match and the user is no longer needed, you can delete the user sid.  Make sure that you have a backup before you delete all the registry information.

Note: Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk...

Thank you

  • What is this unknown solution in my vcenter

Received a follow-up on my new 5.5 vcenter license alert. This isn't a device but an installation on a windows server. Since it is difficult to explain in words, I'll post a screenshot:

To identify this any help would be much appreciated.

have you tried to evaluate RS too? This solution is probably SRM in evaluation mode. find a host named MCVCSRM2. BCN. LOCAL and go into the console services.msc, you will find service of VMWare Site Recovery Manager running down there.

  • Impossible to remove an unknown account, get the error 'cannot delete the unknown account because this object inherits permissions from its parent.

I have several programs that when I go to security there is an unknown account and when I try to delete unknown account I get this message that you cannot delete the Unknown(S-1...) account because this object inherits from its parent perssions. To delete the Unknown(S-1...) account, you must prevent this object from inheriting permissions. Turn off the option for the inheritance of permissions and then try to delete the Unknown(S-1...) account again. I tried the edit and advance features in respect of security without success. Why have I not control over security permissions?

Found a solution to this problem.

Go to the folder parent of the folder that contains the files with this unknown account number:
    1. right click on the PARENT folder, and then click Properties.
    2. on the Security tab, go to the advanced options (bottom window)
    3. in the new window, click the button change the permissions in the bottom.
    4. Select the Group (NOT AUTHENTICATED, just of users USERS) users
    5. check "replace all permissions of child object with permissions inheritable of this object.
    6. click on the OK button or apply and done, fixed number.

Hope this helps anyone else having this problem, for me it happened after reinstallation of win 7 on the same machine and keep my images on another partition, so it was spared by the new facility, so the old user account was always on the file permissions.

  • I see unknown accounts when editing file properties on the Security tab.

    Original title: file security accounts

I noticed that when we look at some file properties, the Security tab shows an account listed as "account unknown (with the following information of number/letter).  What is this and can it be deleted?  It grows on files a little, but no more.

The SID that you see refers to an account that you deleted at some point in the past. Nothing to worry about.

  • I have an unknown account and an unknown contact. How can I go to find out who they belong to?

I have an unknown account and an unknown contact. How can I go to find out who they belong to?

    Original title: unknown account

You can use the ProfileList registry to identify the SIDS of the users.

To access the registry, go to a command to run.
Press the Windows and R. Then type: regedit.

    1. go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

    2. under the ProfileList key, you will see the SID. By selecting each individually, you can look at the entry and see what user name is associated with this particular SID. It will be in the right pane.

Note: The SID to a combination of profiles is reserved for the profiles on the local computer based. If a user is referring to a 'server' extension .usr or .man profile in the User Manager for domains that they will not be in this area of the registry to associate the username in SID.

If the account is not used, you can delete the registry. Don't forget to back up the registry before making any changes, as they will be permanent.

Let us know if that helps.

The unknown user account can be a corrupt user profile. As there is no data to this account, it is safe to remove it from your administrator account.

  • Password reset disk error - "year error occurred while the wizard attempted to set the password for this user account.

    Hello!

-A bit of background: the desktop PC that I use is Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, with active user accounts total five. I have my own account, and I can access the computer through (or through account from my brother, because I know its password).--

I had this problem recently came where the administrator password (that I know for a long time and never changed) no longer works. So, after some research, I created a reset password on a USB disk, that I found in my house. I managed to create the disc, but when I tried to put the new password, I got the message error "an error occurred while the wizard attempted to set the password for this user account', which I must say is not very clear. I found a few methods of force - reset the password for the account of the admin, as using a sort of Windows Vista DVD or go to Safe Mode to find the hidden administrator account... but I have no idea what this DVD is or where to find, and in Safe Mode, there is no account user administrator to be seen. I believe that my machine is corrupted, but I don't want to buy a new. I want just to reset a password...

Any help is appreciated. If I was not specific enough, I can specify in comments.

    Thank you!

    Hello

You must make a password reset disk before that there are problems with a password, not afterwards.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

  • User account: how to rename this user account

Can someone help me? I bought a PC that has been the ex-affichage of the store model. When I bought it, they had removed some non-standard programs and removed the password to their user account.

I went into Control Panel and renamed the user account for what I want, I'm the one with the admin rights I thoght it was successful when I connect and off my user name appears.

    However, when I go to

    Start - computer - drive C - users

I get 2 folders, one is called Public & other below him stores user name and an icon of padlock next to him.

I want to rename this user account and get rid of the lock icon. When I click right I do not get an option to rename. Nobody knows how to help me?

To do this, the only easy is creating a different user account, named as you want. It must be an account with administrative privileges.

Set up the way you want and when you are happy with it, delete the original account.
