  • problem with the Finder - files and folders displaying incorrectly

After acquiring a new iMac, I noticed a problem with the Finder - files and folders are displayed wrong (see table).

This is what happens always after the files have been transferred from one folder to another. I was reminded of my days of using Mac OS in the 1980s when automatic setting of files was not so "automatic." I use Mac OS for decades and I don't remember the last time I had to think about GUI problems like that.

Other problems in the graphical display of files and folders were introduced, such as when you have hundreds of files in a single folder, you end up deleting about 30 to 40 of them say in a particular section, and you end up with gaps of the ChartSpace where files used to be, that is the remaining files automatically rearrange themselves (fill in these gaps) - never. A week later, you open the folder, and the gap of GUI is still there.

I decided to do a clean install of the operating system but nothing works.

Is there some setting in Prefs I'm missing?

    Hi there highland99,

Looks like your folder icons are not accommodating themselves automatically you plan to do. To me, this indicates that you have organize by the None value in the view menu. You can change the way files and folders are prepared automatically by clicking on view > reorganize by and selecting how you would like that fixed.

Any ideas where it might come from?

Is there a utility somewhere that shows this boot file is loaded?

    Thank you :-)

  • Unable to find files and folders using Windows Search

Original title: Windows search returns no results, but only for a single user - another user works very well - Windows 7

All of a sudden windows search of files and folders (from windows Explorer) do not return results - even if I'm looking for in a folder with a file name that I know is in there.  However, it works for the other user on this system.

The things that I tried or looked at who did not work:

    • Configuration of the default folder options.
    • reconstruction of the index
    • sfc/scannow - said "windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to solve some of them.  I have the CBS. If necessary log file.
    • research done that windows has been archived 'Tour of the windows features turn on or off.
    • Ran the registry of Windows Search - he said that he fixed two things (cannot tell you what they were now), but still, it does not solve the problem. When I run it says once again that there are no errors.
    • I checked this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced\\\ and key Start_SearchFiles - which was set to 2, the default
    • Under Customize Start Menu - search with public folders is selected under search for other files and libraries.

It still does not work.  The search box in the start menu seems to work, but not for anything I get.

    Frustrated!

  • Cannot find files on clone super duper, I can restore from Time Machine backup?

First of all, my apologies for cross posting.

I hope I can explain my situation with enough clarity so that someone can help out me. I feel a little bit of panic.

I've had a Mac mini that I sold so need to wipe. I first backed up using Time Machine on an external hard drive. Then, I used Super Duper to clone on a second hard drive. I didn't need a bootable copy of the training, but need access to data, applications, etc. on it from time to time. My intension was to access the data I cloned and stored on the hard drive of my current Macbook Pro. Well, that day came and I went to access my cloned copy of the mini and only see a list of users. I'm not able to find files, documents, and etc.even if I use spotlight to search for. So my questions are:

    1. Can I view the contents of the double machine differently to see more than a list of users? (that is WHERE IS MY THING?)
      1. I have error somehow in my approach?
      2. If I made the mistake with the super duper close, can I restore my time machine to the top of an external drive on another external drive? I want to restore my MacBook hard drive.

    Thank you!!

I was running just an another SuperDuper! Clone.

  • with winzip Self-extractor corupt.and header error cannot find file c/user /? /AppData...

Hi, I use windows vista and erase something and I can not install programs of see the internet.it with winzip Self-extractor header corupt.also during the instalation error it can not find file c/user /? / App

    Hello

    1. in the place where you try to download this file?

    2. you are trying to download the zip file?

    3. this happens with all files or any specific file?

Switch error header corrupt is due to corrupt Self extractors (and corrupted, and .zip files) that were introduced in the file during the download.

Normally, the download of the new file solves the problem. If, however, repeated attempts to download the file do not result in a good copy, your computer may be infected by a virus

I also suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft Scanner on your computer and check to see if it helps:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

  • Cannot copy files and folders to another folder

Whenever I try to COPY a group of files and folders 1 folder to another folder, Vista wants only to allow me to MOVE them.  What is my problem?

Select the files to copy (using the command CTRL to select more than one non sequential order) and once they are all chosen type CTRL-C.  Then move to the folder where you want to copy and click header file and type CTRL-V.  Perhaps this method of copying files won't work where others do not.

    I hope this helps.

  • Cannot rename files or folders.

Compaq Presario SR1303WM, Windows XP service pack 3. A month ago the computer had a lighting strike and I lost everything and had to use the restore function. I created a name slightly different admin and already had a name of admin, so that gave me 2 users with administrator rights. When I log in as an administrator, I can't rename any files or folders. Another name for the administrator to rename.

Carl, if I were you, I would like to delete the Admin account that does not allow you to change the names and start over again.  A problem occurred when the account was created.

  • Cannot move files or folders to one drive to another

LR5 will not allow me to move the raw files or folders that I have stored on an external drive on my drive hard or inside the disc itself.  He said that «there was an error copying files to the destination...» ».  I think the problem may be with the Toshiba v73600-c external disk formatting. I don't remember format until I started using it several years ago, and I don't know how to determine the current format of the disk.  For what it's worth, , I am able to move raw files I have stored on my hard drive on another external drive that has been recently formatted OS X extended (journaled).  How can I either move these files to one of the OS X Extended

Anyone installed a utility, unless LR5 is one such utility.  The Toshiba drive was bought as compatible with Mac/PC.  What I didn't know, is that it was read only for Mac.

I bought Paragon NTFS for Mac 14 earlier today at the Apple Support suggestion, SR. Tech.  It works well.  Problem solved.

  • Cannot find files Limewire on PC after download

I upgraded 5.5.13 Limewire 5.5.16, and I can't find my downloaded files (movies and songs).

with all older versions that they were all saved in Documents > Limewire, but now, I searched the entire computer (start > Search toolbar) and nothing comes up.

Please, you can try to help me as soon as POSSIBLE!

    Thank you!

We have kept away from your original problem, I refer you to my post from Thursday, October 7, 2010 06:05, I put forward a possible solution for you to check.  All of my following messages related to this first proposal, which proved to be difficult to follow and thus eliminate as a cause.  You have now put my mind at rest and I think that it has been eliminated as a cause of your problems.  Internet Explorer protected mode has been tied up with this theory failed.  I'm sorry to mislead you on "garden path".

Another idea, when you search for these downloads Limewire on your machine did you research looking into the system and hidden folders?  It may be necessary to show both hidden and system files and also uncheck 'Hide known file types' in Control Panel / folder Options / view, to have search search everywhere.  Rather than searching in the Start Menu / SEARCH box (if you are), load your user (C:\Users\devorah) file and use the search box located in the top right of the window.  If she fails to find anything, try to click on 'Computer' under ' search in '.

"By default, the Limewire save the destination of the file is"C:\Users\Username\Documents\LimeWire\Saved"."

Are there preferences or parameters seen from LimeWire that might give you a clue as to where the files should be or are being saved?

See if this free research program can dig their place for you.
