  • Vista Sidebar and Media Player stopped working after uninstalling Mcafee and AVG installation

Hi, I'm new to the Dell Forums, my apologies if this isn't the right place to post this.

Yesterday, I decided to remove Mcafee completely from my Inspiron 6400 (running Vista Ultimate) and install the free version of AVG. First, I downloaded the http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=1033 and AVG Mcafee removal tool and was save on my desktop. I unplugged my internet connection, uninstalled Mcafee Security Center of programs & features (recommended by Mcafee), rebooted, then ran Mcafee Removal Tool Development. EXE, rebooted, installed the free version of AVG, went online and installed the AVG updates, performed a full scan with no errors. The system seems to work well, but then I noticed that the clock on Windows Sidebar gadget turned black, the deleted with only a yellow box calendar gadget. I tried to open Media Player, no luck because he would not just open. Tried to launch Media Player as an admin, no luck. While my connection is an admin one. There is another connection admin account so connected to this account, but you have the same problem. I did a system restore and also tried to create new accounts, but the same thing happens with the Gadgets and Media Player. I also ran startup repair by using the Vista DVD, no luck.

Did somebody encountered this problem? There is an almost similar post under Vista (http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&message.id=41524&query.id=225388#M41524), but no solution. I had a feeling this uninstallation of Mcafee or running the Development. EXE may have messed up with the registry keys for the sidebar and Media Player. I also downloaded another gadget clock, no luck. Y at - it a fix for this? I don't want to install Mcafee again, as I had many problems with MCProxy and Spamkiller causing system crash and Mcafee has no solution so far. I also have spybot running on the system.

I would appreciate if someone could help me with this. Thank you

  • Media Player stopped working

Media Player was working fine until I downloaded and installed the recent update of platform for Windows 7.   Media Player will start but then stop immediately.  There is no error code, just "we'll let you know if we always find a solution to this problem."

If it happens immediately after installation of the update, then go to a system restore point Restore.Select when everything was working fine.

  • Express Media Player stopped working after Windows recovery with partition

    Hi people

I'm new to this forum. We hope to get some tips on your part I recently got a laptop A100. It comes with the Media of Express Player (EMP) installed. Given that my HARD drive is 160 GB, I need to make a few partition to protect my data should WinXP crashes and needed recovery. I used Toshiba Windows restore CD to restore windows to a 40 GB partition and set up the other as an extended partition. This is the final State of my laptop after that.
    C: 40GB (contains WinXP)
    D: ~ 108 GB (for my data)
I can see an unknown partition of ~ 250 MB, which is for EMP. I turned off my PC and turn it on using the button of the EMP. It did not work! EMP does not start. Can you guys advise? Anyone tried the partition their HARD drive and for the EMP to work?

    Hello

Usually, if you want to use the functions of player Media Express that the Mediaplayer Express Recovery CD should be performed before performing recovery of recovery, DVD-ROM.

You know you can't run Express Media player after performing a recovery!

But it seems that you have not formatted the disk around and packed only the extra partition. Eventually, you n t need to reinstall the drive Media Express.

I studied a little more on the technical knowledge of Toshiba and found this:

In rare cases, Windows XP starts instead of the Media Express Player

  • How to make Windows Media Player and Real Player STOP my each image stored in MS Paint - loading Vista

More specifically, when I open Windows Media Player or Real Player to view the photos uploaded from my cameras, players are full of 2,000

images, I stored in MS Paint.  I need these images in MS Paint for reference material for my work.  They are all the print screen shots pasted in MS Paint.

What I want, it's for Real Player and Windows Media Player to be used only to store the photos from my camera.  I don't want these other 2,000 images in there, because they make it very difficult to manage all 2,000 of them when looking to find photos of the camera that are much more limited.

So, basically, I don't want media players store these images of MS Paint.  And I hope that I do not need to delete one by one or in boots.  And I don't want to accidentally remove it from my computer.  I just keep them in the painting.     Please tell us how to proceed, if possible.

Media Player is not all image acquisition to import videos from cameras.

But let me clarify: Media Player also does not maintain a library index more (this is bad for performance).  When you browse through your photo library by clicking on the links on the left side of the media player, it's just browsing through files as if you open the window of your file and you click on the image on the left side of the library.  The two are different programs, but they both go through the same places as a folder view, so there is no worry about the index of the media player clog, because it is not a plus.

    Example:

Media Player does not index more, it uses just the file system.  If you right click and select properties of the picture library, this is where you control the locations it reflects in its scope.  It is not a folder (nothing can be stored "in"a library".  The circled "3 locations" is another way to access the same.

  • Creation of DVD Windows Media Player, Media Center, stop working

I use Windows Vista and that you cannot use Windows Media Center, Media Player, Media Player Classic or Windows DVD Maker.

When I try and play a video file for example, I immediately have an error message saying that "Windows Media Player has stopped working. A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Same message for attempting to use one of the other programs listed.

I tried to reboot, I checked for updates and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 installed and I used the Microsoft fix it solution to 'Windows Media Player stops responding after you install a third-party product that registers its own version of the Wmp.dll file' (using both the "fix it for me" and "Let me fix it myself" options).

Unfortunately that I do not have a restore to restore point, my only option was to restore to the point before you install Windows Vista Service Pack 2, but my problem before this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I think that the problem may have started when I updated a program, I used without any problems in the past ("Format Factory"), because I can't think of anything that may have done so.

    Thank you!
