Whatever the sysbol looking for TV stand for?

I had the cache memory/HD/wireless off today to do a little cleaning. According to me, that there is a space for a 2nd HD. I also noticed a space that looks like a PCIe card slot which has a picture of a TV below? What can be put there? A TV tuner card?

Thank you!

  • failure of the system, looking for answers

Need help for the guys. Had a major failure of the system last week, and I'm a bit confused as to what happened and why I was unable to get free. I lost a bit of my confidence in Vsphere, and I'd like to renew that.

A bit on the environment, esxi 5.0 U1, with servers HP Gen 8 3 node cluster running. HP P4500 SAN iscsi for vmfs data storage. ESXi is installed on HP's CF cards in servers. This cluster has been upward and running for about 6 months, not a single hiccup before that.

Wednesday we have migrated 2 of our vm (SQL and progress) to this cluster 5.0 database, the virtual machine went on different hosts in the cluster. The virtual machine was running on a cluster 2 older nodes with esxi 4.1 U2. Machines migrated fine, fine tools updates, reboot, everything seemed fine.

About 2 hours after that the migration, we started to receive calls that our Progress database is down, users could not connect. Then we started getting more calls, other machines were inaccessible. Glancing from vcenter I could see all the virtual machines in question were on the same host, and I was unable to open the console in vsphere for VMs on that host. The host showed he was connected, showed all the vm connected, but I could not open the console or the desktop remotely to one of the VMs on that host. I started studying, and of course this host fell all the SAN Iscsi network connections. The railways have shown dead. Ports of nic card viewed active, the switch ports showed activity, but the connections were down. I could always ping the address of management for the host however, and ports for vmotion were in place.

At this point, I started to try and vmotion VMs on that host data base progress, he would not migrate, just sat at 8% prepare to migrate. I tried other virtual machines with the same result. I started to wonder why HA had not kicked, and why I couldn't move anything. At this stage the host started disconnecting from the cluster. I could always ping on the host, but vsphere showed as disconnected. I couldn't move my VM, and I couldn't go to the host via vcenter, via the vsphere client pointed directly to the host, or by using the DCUI.

So I called VMware support, got an engineer on the line with me, and it became clear we were going to have to power cycle that host and crash all virtual machine running on it. It wasn't a very pleasant for me answer because this database of progress is our main production system, and I was afraid of corruption. We had no choice, so we did. When the host came back upward, fortunately the virtual machine came very well. VMware engineer digging in the newspapers and said that this was with a particular NIC card driver with known issues. He showed me the KB on this issue, and it seemed to be a known issue. We have updated these drivers on all hosts, and that's all.

My problem with this is that, how is the cluster ran fine for 6 months without problem, and how come the redundant path to the SAN did not keep the connection active when with the path with the bad nic card driver failed? I have 2 different, with 2 NICs different paths for the Iscsi SAN. The other card had no known driver issue. Why both paths failed not just in cause of a driver on one of the cards problem? More worrying is also how is it that I could not immigrate anything, and why no HA kick in?

Sorry for the novel here, but without all the details is not part of a story. My biggest concern, that's why I couldn't move anything? In the event of a host failure, what you're supposed to do in order to migrate the machines if they don't migrate via vsphere client? We were down for about 2.5 hours, and a lot of questions were thrown on me the senior management as to why my "system available, redundant high" took hours to retrieve...

Guys here any ideas, thoughts on how I would have handled it differently, reasons why I should be confident everything is fine now?

    Thanks for your time

    Kevin

    Thanks Matt.

I guess some of the problem is not completely understand how the HA or Vmotion. I was under the impression once that the virtual machine was not reachable HA wouldn't kick and move the virtual machine? The virtual machine was not to ping requests or accessible by the Office remotely. I couldn't get their power off or do anything through vcenter either.

If they had no link usable storage, this seems possible.  HA simply does not address the failures of storage.  Not at all.  It IS possible to activate at the level of the VM HA, but it isn't on by default - must be activated on a per-VM basis.  You should read the book by Duncan Epping on this - it's the bible of the AH.

So in case something happens with the connection of storage, you have really no way to vmotion anything right here, and your only option is to kill the host / VM running on it, and then migrate or leave HA move them?

    Fix.

I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to vmotion virtual machine if the host has lost its connection to storage. The other hosts in the cluster saw storage.

The source host is controlling these VMDK, as far as the other guests are concerned (they see a lock on the file) and when they ask the host if its still alive, he answers (because it has not powered the network lost or down, which are the failure mode THAT HA is designed to handle). So they take charge.

The reason why it took so long was because I didn't kill the host with my concerns for the database. I was hoping that the VMware engineer may have a way to gracefully close things down. So he spent some time looking around and trying to determine what was going on. Ultimately we just power cycle the host, so I could have done much earlier, and if we are facing this again in the future, I would.

As long as you follow the seller advised for more decent databases (keeping the transaction logs, etc.), don't have good backups, theres no real risk of data corruption.  VMware does not significantly change the i/o path, in order to have the same exposure than on a physical host.

I still do not understand why the two paths were marked as dead and the host completely lost connection to the SAN, as well as to show finally disconnected in vcenter.

Well the host went offline because it got stuck in an all-paths-down scenario, which is common for 5.0.  5.1 solves this problem a little.  I don't know why all roads fell, but I suspect that you have a misconfig somewhere... normally you expect at least 4 paths in a system set up correctly on the left.  Check with HP to ensure that you follow best practices.

Maybe all the IP stack has been corrupted or something?

Possible, of course, but unlikely.  Never heard before.

I appreciate the help and the preview, I thought that the problem was a lack of understanding on my part and fully accept it.

HA and vMotion are complex.  At least now you can go back to mgmt and tell them why he fell more (because it was a failure outside the scope of the software scenario) and may ask for money to build a proper SQL cluster.  Definitely recommend the book of Duncan Epping: http://www.amazon.com/VMware-vSphere-Clustering-Technical-Deepdive/dp/1463658133/ref=la_B002YJMRCY_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1363622697&sr=1-2

  • Which past now and not days ago = > publication of text captions with anti-aliasing off the coast looking for really bad.

I reported the bellows of text and I'd like to know if it happens to someone else.

    Concise problem statement:

When you publish buttons with text or text with antialiasing off the coast, the result is very bad.

Last project I cancelled 2 months ago and it seems good. But when I did a few changes yesterday and I published it again all the buttons and links that they looked very bad.

I tried with different computers, where they have installed captivate and I have reproduced the bug how I show below and in any place of same problem.

I can't show the client the changes because the evil look textfields.

I tried to reinstall all the options, Captivate and install older versions of flash and nothing plugin, everything looks the same. Probably a windows update may cause the problem, I don't know.

    Steps to reproduce the bug:
    1. black background or dark color
    2. create the button and select Properties
    3. Select the text color color yellow or clear, size of large font (24-30) and transparent background
    4 publish

Results: no text no embattled arround White halo, eat as the text. The part of the text is a bit fuzzy.

Resemble the translucent color part of the text to produce somehow anti-aliasing is white in color.

Expected results: the net image as html on browser text.

    Well, it give a try.

Minimize all applications that you can see the desktop.

Right click on the desktop, then select Properties.

    Click the appearance tab.

    Click on the effects button.

You see an option called use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts?

If so, disable the option and click OK.

Report back if you still have this option and, if so, if you erase it helps.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones how can I STOP the storm looking for new e-mail messages?

I've had the storm for a few days now, and it's my first BB, so maybe it's why it looks like such a simple question.

Here's the question: I created 3 accounts on the storm, and they work fine. However, when I'm at work or at home in front of a computer (which is most of the time) I am not interested in having the choice of the storm to the top of every email that I receive because I'm reading them on the computer and then I have to delete them on the storm. I would like to be able to check your email on the storm only when I want, but I can't seem to find the setting that will allow for this.

    A little help, please!

    Thanks in advance,

    -M.

I have a similar situation as you and there is a way to stop the emails any time. Go to the full menu and open the installation folder. Open here the e-mail configuration. Your email accounts will appear in the upper part. Highlight the one you want to temporarily stop and pop the menu and select filters. There are two options. Foward messages on device and do not forward messages. Do not transfer the right choice. They then record at the bottom. You can create a shortcut on the home screen moving the installation of e-mail folder if you can access this option quickly on a daily basis.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

My safari will display all the images, for example Google Logo, image profile of everyone here and much more.

So I was wondering how I can fix this problem?

Either way, I have 3 accounts on my computer, works on the other two, but not mine.

    Thank you!!!

    Safari > Preferences > advanced

Tick the box "Show develop menu in menu bar."

Menu "develop" will appear in the Safari menu bar.

Click 'Expand' in the menu bar and make sure that 'Disable the Images' is not enabled.

  • Enter the location of the image LOOK for iOS

I have two images of launch for a game that I do with air for iOS, called Default.png and [email protected]. I can't find where to put them so that they are used when the opening play. Documentation from Adobe says they should be in the root directory, so I put them in the same folder as the appeared .ipa file, but that doesn't seem to work (I use a 4th gen iPod Touch for testing, so it doesn't take long to load the game, but I thought that I would see at least a glimpse of it). I also put the launch of the images in the folder AppIconsForPublish that Flash created when I imported the images I use for app icons, but still no luck. How can I get the launch images displayed?

Icons are handled in a special way, when you publish the icons are brought to you, but they must be beside where the swf's going to be. I have mine in a folder of icons next to the swf.

The splash screen is not treated in this way, you must add them manually in the publication settings. I think they could be located anywhere on your hard drive, but you must add them in individually, not inside a folder. Then that puts them at the root of the application itself.

  • See the client_co_ref looking for the Organization

    Hello

Is posible to add the client_co_ref criteria in the search screen organization?

    Thanks in advance!   V9

    Yes, it is possible.

To display the field CLIENT_CO_REF in the list of search criteria organization, simply change this attribute of field CAN_SEARCH 'Y' by running this SQL query:

    UPDATE SU_FIELD SET CAN_SEARCH = 'Y' WHERE REF = 108 AND CAN_SEARCH = N

Please note that the field is displayed as "no organization".

To display an additional column in the search list organization change slightly (make a custom copy) query matching in your infra_custom.sql:

    ORGANIZATION SEARCH BROWSE
    *, 3, 102, 34, 457, 458, 459, 460, 214, 233, 320, 321, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58
    SELECT
    AR_CLIENT_COMPANY. CLIENT_CO_REF "* CLIENT_COMPANY_REF"
    ...

    AR_CLIENT_COMPANY. CLIENT_CO_REF "no organization".
    Of
    AR_CLIENT_COMPANY [SQLSERVER with (nolock)]

    ...

... to analyze queries and then restart IIS.

Please be aware that this is not response official vmware. It really could be incorrect.

  • Where can I get the driver/software for Satellite A500/02J disc

    Hello

Newbie here, just want to ask, are there at - there a driver/software for laptop Toshiba A500/02J disc.
I just bought a new and its been not formatted, so no recovery partition where drivers would be.

I searched the net looking for face recognization software, etc., but nothing works.
There must be a drive to install there somewhere...

    Can someone help a newbie?

    Concerning
    Carl

    Hello

The laptop has not been handed over with the recovery disk because there is a pre-installed tool called Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.
This software could create the recovery disk that allows the laptop to factory settings still.

By the way; Satellite A500/02J is an Australian for Toshiba laptop model and drivers must be available on the Australian Toshiba page:

  • You are looking for a SIMPLE, EASY to USE, USB flash drive password protection

    Hello everyone,

I scoured the Internet looking for a SIMPLE, EASY to USE, method of Word to PASS-PROTECT my flash drives TOGETHER.  I don't mean something that protects just individual files & folders (such as MS Word, Excel & can do).  Or I'm looking for a program that involves having to read page after page of instructions on how to ENCRYPT the drive.  ENCRYPTION is a topic that is really beyond my ability to understand.  I'm sorry.

Programs like Truecrypt, Axcrypt, etc. are simply much too complicated for me to understand... a lot less!

My question: are there flash drives available (size 8-16 GB preferably) who have a means of securing the disk with a password?

The USB key remains in my USB port at ALL times!  I have no other computers here and live alone, so that no one else could access the flash player (or computer).  Otherwise, I would be willing to consider a VERY SIMPLE, EASY to UNDERSTAND AND USE application, either free or something that does not cost me dearly.  (I subsist on a limited monthly disability income).

Thank you for your time and any recommendations!

It seems that the solution for you would be to purchase a secure Flash drive.   Security is built-in and it asks for your password when you insert your disc into the computer.   Can't get much simpler than that.  They are a little more expensive, but you pay more for practical reasons.   See the following article:
    'USB Flash Drive Security '.
To find one, just Google for "Secure USB flash drive", there are a lot of them out there.

If you have a non-secure flash drive and do not want to replace, then your easiest option would be a program like Truecrypt which you already have reduced as being too complicated.  Don't let the word"encryption" you scared - it all comes down to "enter a password to access".»  Once established, however, it is almost as simple as only to enter a password so if you can find a computer or a local high school computer nerd literate member of the family who would volunteer to set up for you, then it wouldn't be that hard.

Also, if anyone is aware of any 802.11n design guidelines / planning guides (preferably Cisco) with some rough points square guidelines for generic, Interior carpet environment office (similar to the PA 1 through 10,000 feet square for the data base/light and 1 PA by 3,000 feet square for VoWLAN), but for the 802.11n which would be appreciated.

Is enough to remind me about the need to conduct a site survey - and I realize that these figures will stretch based on the environment - looking for instructions and values of the signal, if published.

In addition, it is understood that different customers may have different sensitivity - no need to go either

Especially try to find some guidelines rough values published for planning purposes.
