When creating index table lock?

Hello

My db is oracle10g. My database is OLTP system. I wanted to create the index on one of the table. The table has 200 million recordings.

It locks the whole when table I create index? I think, its impact on the regular operations of the database when creating the index?

Any help is appreciated...

Hello

You have Enterprise Edition? If so, the online option is available.

So you can do:

create index my_new_index on my_tab(col1,col2) online;

or:

alter index my_existing_index rebuild online;

If you are not using the online option, then Yes, the table will be locked for updates, all traffic OLTP will serialize buttocks the index maintenance operation.

Hope that helps,

-Mark

    You probably need SGA more because you have a lot of Parallels/slave servers in your instance. I see that you have at least 146. How many processors do you have? Do you need so many parallel servers?

  • ENQ: TM - claim when creating index

    Hi all
    I'm trying to create an index on a table with 10 million documents. He got a primary key constraint, and there is no foreign key on all other tables.
    When I tried to create indexes, a few seconds, I am able to see below when asked...
    Select the SID, EVENT, TOTAL_WAITS, TOTAL_TIMEOUTS, TIME_WAITED FROM v$ session_evenement event WHERE ='enq: TM - claim ' and total_waits > 0;
    SID TOTAL_WAITS TOTAL_TIMEOUTS TIME_WAITED EVENT
    399 enq: TM - 101316 345 346 contention
    544 enq: TM - contention 39892 136 137
    862 enq: TM - 149 148 43485 contention
    968 enq: TM - 880 875 255780 contention
    985 enq: TM - 10 9 2842 contention
    999 enq: TM - 66662 227 228 contention

    I thought that these events have been waiting for some time... but the Dungeon number on the increase as the time increases
    I got to know that the creation of an index on the foreign key constraint would solve this... but unfortunately I don't see not all foreign keys...

    This will be solved if I wait for a long time?
    And the sql_text from v$ sqlarea is presented as "insert into table(col1,col2...)". values(:B1,:B2...); »
    Can someone please help me solve this problem...

    Thank you.

    so... is it OK to wait, even if I have 150 + "enq: TM - claim ' events pending on this table for several sid...?

    Depends on your application.

    It's true. It is documented in the Manual of the SQL language

    Restrictions on Function-based Indexes

    Function-based indexes are subject to the following restrictions:
    ...
    The column_expression cannot contain any aggregate functions.

    MAX is an aggregate function.

    What problem are you trying to solve? If you could create an index like this, how would you use it?
    Explain what you need to do, and someone will help you find a good way to do it.

    However, the longer name of my models is 23 characters, making it the longest name of characters 27A table (+ _TPL).
    Is there a still shorter limit for the length of model name?

    Thank you

    Kind regards
    Julien

    Hi Julien,

    In fact, the limit for a semantic model, created using the Jena adaptor is 19 characters. This is because the application table index uses TRIPLEIDX as a suffix.

    I removed the audit on delydate that you cannot refer to another column in a constraint check (at the level of the column). You can to the table level.

    I am using MS word 2010 to create the model (*.rtf file).

    The report displays the details of all the products used by the customer. Report 1 product per page. All products have the same model.

    What I want is to create an Index page, which displays the product name and the page number of the report in which it is generated.

    For example. Client Papa Johns uses 10 products. The generated report will contain details below: 1st Page-> Front Page containing details of the customer base.

    2nd Page-> Index page that contains product names and page numbers

    3rd page: 1 product details

    4th page: Details of the product 2.

    .

    .

    and so on.

    INDEX

    Product name Page No.

    Anchovies 4
    Apple at the top of 5
    Bacon 6
    7 barbecue sauce
    Barbecue Sauce2 8
    9 the chicken filling
    Dough 10

    Please note that the product number will be variable (it can increase or decrease), so there may be a case when the index page takes more than 1 or 2 pages just to print the names of products and their respective numbers.

    Thanks for the help in advance.

    All,

    It is not recommended to use the SYS or SYSTEM to store/manage schema graph RDF data.

    Can you please try the following in a SQL * more terminal?

    SQL > conn system/eu1

  • How to create indexes on the ordered collection of XMLTYPE table?

    I use Oracle 11.2.0.2.

    Basically, my XML documents have a 3-level hierarchy:

    How can I create an index on these tables of the ordered collection to improve performance?

    I found the example at http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/AppDev.112/e23094/xdb_rewrite.htm#ADXDB5859 but am not able to apply to this particular case...

    Thank you in advance...

    If the schema is not annotated and XS: Integer and XS: String are mapped to types of data NUMBER and VARCHAR2 (4000), so you must use in your query to avoid typecasting unnecessary operations.

    You must also use XMLTABLEs chained when accessing a parent/child instead of a FLWOR expression relationship, otherwise the CBO cannot rewrite the XQuery query correctly (maybe it's fixed in the latest version).

    If you make these changes, the plan should show the cleaner predicates:

    SQL > SELECT EVENT_ID, MESSAGE_ID, ACTION_TYPE, ACTION_SUB_ID, ACTION_TIMESTAMP

    2 FROM test_table

    3 XMLTABLE ('/ monitoring ')

    4 COLUMNS XML_CONTENT OF PASSAGE

    5 WAY of VARCHAR2 (4000) EVENT_ID "ID."

    6 actions for XMLTYPE PATH 'action '.

    (7) T1,

    8 XMLTABLE ('/ action')

    Shares of PASSAGE 9 COLUMNS

    NUMBER of ACTION_SUB_ID 10 PATH "actionSubId."

    11 PATH of VARCHAR2 (4000) ACTION_TYPE "type."

    12 WAY of NUMBER ACTION_TIMESTAMP 'time '.

    (13) T2

    14 WHERE EVENT_ID IS NOT NULL

    15 AND ACTION_SUB_ID IS NOT NULL

    16;

    Execution plan

    Hash value of plan: 1763884463

    filter ("SYS_ALIAS_0". "NESTED_TABLE_ID"="TABLE_TEST" "." " ("SYS_NC0000800009$")

    5 - filter("SYS_ALIAS_0"." actionSubId» IS NOT NULL)

    -dynamic sample used for this survey (level = 2)

    Now, if it is still necessary, everything boils down to choosing a technique for index NULL values:

    -composite index with a column not zero or constant

    -FBI

    -bitmap image

    Choose the one that best fits your data, the selectivity and activity on the tables.

  • Performance problem when inserting in an indexed table space with JDBC

    We have a table named 'feature' that has a "sdo_geometry" column, and we created the spatial index on this column,

    CREATE TABLE (ID, desc varchar, sdo_gemotry oshape) feature

    CREATE INDEX feature_sp_idx ON feature (oshape) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS. SPATIAL_INDEX;

    Then we executed following SQL to insert some 800 records in this table (we tried this using the DB Viewer and)
    our Java application, both of them were using JDBC driver to connect to the database oracle 11 g 2).

    insert into feature (id, desc, oshape) values (1001, xxx, xxxxx);
    insert into a values (id, desc, oshape) feature (1002, xxx, xxxxx);
    ...........................
    insert into a values (id, desc, oshape) feature (1800, xxx, xxxxx);

    We met the same problem as this topic
    Performance of the insert with spatial index
    It takes almost 1 dry for inserting a record, compared with 50 records inserted per second without spatial index.
    which is 50 x slow performance when you perform the insertion with the spatial index.

    However, when we copy and paste these scripts inserted in Oracle Client(same test and same table with spatial index), we got a completely different performance results:
    more than 50 records inserted in 1 seconds, as fast as the insertion without having to build the spatial index.

    Is it because that the Oracle Client not using JDBC? Perhaps JDBC has been something bad when updating of these tables indexed on the space.

    JDBC normally use autocommit. So each insert can leads to a commit.
    I know not all customer Oracle. In sqlplus, insert is just an insert,
    and you run "commit" to commit your changes explicitly.
    So maybe that's the reason.

  • How to create indexes on the nested table.

    Hi all
    I held the syntax to create indexes on the nested table.

    I found below synta but when I try it with my table it gives me error

    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX indx_name
    ON nestedtablestore (NESTED_TABLE_ID, id);

    What is here NESTED_TABLE_ID & ID

    They are virtual your nested table

    Here is an example.

    create or replace type obj as object (no integer, address varchar2(100))
    /
    create or replace type tbl as table of obj
    /
    create table test_tbl (id integer, name varchar2(100), address tbl) nested table address store as address_nt
    /
    create unique index address_no_idx on address_nt (no, address)
    /

  • Change the order of selection when the index is created

    I run the query as

    Select emp.ename, dept.dname from emp, dept
    where emp.deptno = dept.deptno;

    The result is like

    ENAME DNAME
    ---------- --------------
    SEARCH FOR SMITH
    SALES OF ALLEN
    SALES OF WARD
    SEARCH FOR JONES
    SALES OF MARTIN
    SALES OF BLAKE
    CLARK ACCOUNTING
    SEARCH FOR SCOTT
    ACCOUNTING OF KING
    SALES OF TURNER
    SEARCH FOR ADAMS

    ENAME DNAME
    ---------- --------------
    JAMES SALES
    SEARCH FORD
    MILLER ACCOUNTING

    14 selected lines.

    But now, I create an index on the deptno column in the emp table as - create index emp_ie1 on emp (deptno); Now, when I run the query even the result is like

    ENAME DNAME
    ---------- --------------
    CLARK ACCOUNTING
    ACCOUNTING OF KING
    MILLER ACCOUNTING
    SEARCH FOR SMITH
    SEARCH FOR JONES
    SEARCH FOR SCOTT
    SEARCH FOR ADAMS
    SEARCH FORD
    SALES OF ALLEN
    SALES OF WARD
    SALES OF MARTIN

    ENAME DNAME
    ---------- --------------
    SALES OF BLAKE
    SALES OF TURNER
    JAMES SALES

    14 selected lines.

    Please, note that, once the index is created the default order is on the deptno. Whereas, in the former case, there is no default order. Any who, can explain this behavior? Thank you

  • Creating a table of automatic indexing of loop for

    Hello and greetings from a newbie to LabView,

    In my program, I want to write several orders via VISA and read them in order. I created a table of command and auto-indexé to a loop for.

    I want to receive a table of responses, in the order they were read of course. However, I'm not sure what is the best way to do it.

    I'm sure that the solution is simple but have been unable to find one. I have attached the vi for reference. (VISA vi reading is part of the LabView unit driver), which works, but looks like a unmodular approach and inelegant.

    Thank you!

    Simple, you can auto-index the output!

  • Creating indexes for the table

    can someone help me how to create indexes in the table. I m creating own table... I need to select a particular field in the table. So I need to calculate the index position. I use my code like this,

    This will returnthe number of columns in the table.

    Class array

    {

    private int Table_Index()
    {
    for (int x = 0; x)<>
    {
    table_index = x;
    }
    Return table_index;
    }

    }

    MainClass can I get this length of Index

    Table T1;

    int t1 is T1. Table_Index();

    This property returns my length (4) of table column

    Using this index (t1) I HAV to see what position I'm at table now...

    someone help me...

    You can use a listfield, he supports methods to get the selected row and its contents.

  • Is there a way to create a table that creates new "lines" when enter is pressed?

    Hi all

    I am trying to create a pdf file for my company to regularly use the packing list. Generally, this packing list is generated by our software, but our software was not designed primarily for delivery and purchase and lack of functionality. With complex or revised orders, we must create our own documents and I wanted to create something that could be used as a standard that reflects what the software has generated.

    Thus, the document itself. Packing lists (or invoices or purchase orders, according to what is required at this time) have a number of elements arranged in a table with properties. These properties is the name of the item, description, how many rooms, the price, the size of the container, etc. Simple packing lists have three or four points that all fit on one page but larger orders have elements which extend into several pages, ending with a 'total' for all areas.

    My question is, is - it possible ot create a table in Adobe Acrobat, DC format that allows me to create a dynamic array that can be extended (with additional lines) when necessary on another page or several pages? Table if it makes a difference, each page would have a header and a footer (information for the transport and logistics) for this 'dynamic' table would be sandwiched between these two areas.

    Thank you

    EDIT: I've been looking around and, I hope that Adobe Acrobat DC has this feature, but it seems the best way to acchieve that is via Adobe Live Cycle Designer, which fortunately, my supervisor has a copy. This youtube video explains, in an overview, exactly what I want to do and how to do it through this program. Perhaps that will help someone in the future who also Live Cycle:

    Creating robust dynamic forms in Adobe LiveCycle® - YouTube

    As you have found, it's more a characteristic of the LCD and not Acrobat. It is possible to add new fields in Acrobat, but there is no "dynamic table". It must be done manually.

    Another option is to create a template page with additional fields and then reproduce a copy of it when necessary.
