  Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  I could use a little clarification on your question.  Can you explain the situation in a bit more detail?  What I read, is that when you click the icon for your antivirus it basically does nothing (POP maybe a splash screen but then does not start).  Well, you say you are doing a clean boot.  This could very well be why your antivirus software does not work properly.  Clean boot disable start programs.  If your antivirus has need of one of the elements that has been turned off, which could cause the problem.  I suggest to turn off boot or go through msconfig and find everything that is related to your antivirus and turn them back on.   I had the same problem. Looked at all the addons and extensions referred to in the conversation between philipp and dadmr. All extensions and plugins off and on again with each shot. Problem has been resolved by disabling app 1.0.85 Goodshop and RealDownloader 1.3.2.28. It may be that these versions were outdated, but were postponed during the upgrade from previous versions of Firefox. I hope this helps.
