  • I'm trying to connect to the internet and I am unable to do so. My screen says Internet Explore cannot display this Web page. I missed something in the settings? He sees my wireless and says acquiring network address... but not to go further.

I tried to diagnose, disconnect and reconnect

You have left out information such as how you connect to the Internet (cable/DSL? ISP?), the brand of your router, and whether other computers can connect to your router wirelessly with success. Also, we don't know whether there is an initial Setup or if you had this before work and now it just doesn't.

I'm going to assume that this is the first installation then give you instructions on setting up a safe wireless router. Maybe that will make things work for you. If you need more information, be sure to include all missing information in your next post.

Setting up a router is simple enough. Normally, you run the CD that came with the router and follow the instructions. But you can set up the router without the CD. Note that if you have Internet cable for the connection you have just set up the router to DHCP (or there may even be a choice of cable to choose). If you have DSL Internet, you select TRP usually and enter the username and password you selected when you initially set the DSL connection. So:

    1. turn off the power to your modem.
    2. attach a class (usually supplied with the router) ethernet cable cat5e Internet/WAN port of the router to the ethernet port on the modem.
    3. connect the ethernet cable cat5e from the network card in your computer to one of the ports on the router. If you do not have an ethernet cable (because you were using USB), you will need to go to the store and buy a.
    4. turn on the modem. After that all the lights are on, turn on the router.

    To configure the router:

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Lightroom is not in the expected location that he thinks that the photos are in the photos.

This can happen because you have (perhaps accidentally) moved, renamed or deleted photos or folders containing them outside of Lightroom.

The solution is to use your operating system to find the new location of the photos. Take note of where they are. Then in Lightroom, you can reconnect to them through these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing

As an alternative, if the files were simply moved (and not renamed or deleted), you can use your operating system to move towards where Lightroom is expected to make them.

  • Internet Explore cannot display the page

    Hi all

I m new to this and I need a little help that one when I connect to a Web page, he says internet explore cannot display the page. Any ideas how I can fix this problem? Be grateful for any help.
    Thank you all.

    First question;
Haven't you set up the modem or the router correctly?

Maybe your connection to the ISP (Internet service provider) was not set properly and so you are not able to connect to internet!

Have you tried to connect to the internet with other computers?

Reading your post I n t think that there is something wrong with the laptop

  • Gives Windows Update: Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage

MS Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 SP 3 Norton Internet Security 2010

Start button...  Windows Update... immediately pops up a window of Internet Explorer 8, saying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."  with a diagnose connection problems button leading to say there is nothing wrong with the connection.  No error code is displayed.

Tried several times over several days.  Not good.  Tried to type the URL in the address field.  Same result.  Tried to access various Microsoft Windows Update web pages from within the Microsoft site.  Same result.  It almost seems as if "windows" & "update" is in the address, it does not connect.  I tried Windows malicious software removal tool.  No solution.  Tried all the Norton Scans.  No solution.  Completely removed Norton.  The same problem.

Windows Update worked until we made an update of Windows in 5/10, date at which we replaced Internet Explorer 6 with IE 8.  Since we cannot get Windows Update.

He could have something in the updates of Windows that blocks access to the updates?  He could have something in IE 8, which blocks access to updates?

Please don't give me the answer 'wipe the hard drive & reinstall Windows '.  It's a typical 'COMPUTING solution' which means 'I don't know what the problem, then that & everything will be fine.'  But in doing so, it will result in DAYS of relocation & configuration of all programs on my PC!  If you don't know the problem, tell (or do not).  If you KNOW what is really causing the problem and have a solution, I would be VERY grateful to hear from you.  Thank you.

I had this problem in my store with several client computers.

Scenario - IE browse websites ok. But when you try to manually run the updates of Windows, internet explore announcement that that the page cannot be displayed. The same also happens with Microsoft Updates.

I read a lot of discussion online, and many people do not yet have a solution.

Here's what I found... and every machine I have dealt with regard to this problem, in the last 4 months, have all had a rootkit virus infecting NETBT. SYS file in windows. Analysis tools more do not seem to pick up well. AVG, Malwarebytes, Norton... I know that these three would not pick it up.

Launch the latest Combofix it cleans well. If there is. And so far, I have managed to solve a good 6 computers by replacing the NETBT. SYS file.

So, if all else fails... check that. ;-)

    Explore cannot display the page
    Vista updates
    Restart

    Hello

Welcome to Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

I suggest you follow these steps:

Method 1: See if you can view another Web page

To do this, follow these steps:

    Start Internet Explorer.

In the top of the browser address bar, enter one of the following addresses:

    http://www.Microsoft.com

    http://www.MSN.com

    http://support.Microsoft.com

If you do not receive a similar error message after entering one of these addresses in the address bar, contact the owner of the Web site where you see the problem. The website is maybe temporarily unavailable or other problems.

If you receive the same error message, go to the next method.

Method 2: Run the Network Diagnostics tool in Internet Explorer

To do this, follow these steps:

Start Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page that displays the error message.

On the page that displays an Internet Explorer error message, click diagnose connection problems . The Network Diagnostics tool will run. When the tool has finished, it will notify if you one of the following results:

He was unable to find a problem.

It has detected a problem. In addition, the tool will provide guidance on the next steps to take to resolve the problem.

Note Users of Internet Explorer 6, click on detect network settings

Click IP address , and note the IP address. You may have to it for future troubleshooting.

Follow the steps in the Network Diagnostics tool to fix any connection problems.

    Start Internet Explorer.

If you receive the same error message, go to the next method.

Method 3: Use the delete browsing history

If resetting the modem or the router has not resolved the problem, delete your browsing history might help. Follow these steps to delete your temporary Internet files, history and form data:

    Internet Explore 7

    Start Internet Explorer.

On the Tools menu, click delete browsing history .

Select the check box next to Temporary Internet files .

Select the check box next to the history .

Select the check box next to form data .

Select the check box next to Cookies .

At the bottom of the window, click delete .

Close Internet Explorer and restart Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page.

    Internet Explorer 6

    Start Internet Explorer.

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options .

In the Temporary Internet files section, click delete files and then click to select the text box delete all offline content , and then click OK .

In the history section, click clear history , and then click Yes .

Close Internet Explorer and restart Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page.

If you receive the same error message, go to the next method.

Method 4: Use the Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode

To do this, click Start , point to programs , point to Accessories , point to System Tools and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) .

Note The Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) mode is only available for Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8.

If this resolves the problem, follow these steps to isolate the browser add-on that is causing the problem:

Click Tools and then click Internet Options .

Click on the programs tab, and then click Manage Add-ons .

Click an add-on in the name list, and then click disable .

Repeat step 3 until you identify the add-on that is causing the problem.

If the methods in the "Resolution" section General did not resolve your issue, you can try to use the methods in the "Advanced Troubleshooting" section If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, you can ask for help or contact support.
