When I download a file I can't find - ANYWHERE. I changed the settings, destinations, etc. that it disappears. How to fix?

I had to uninstall my McAfee antivirus and when I went to download to reinstall the backup file / download disappears. I changed the settings by some previous posts, I tried the new destinations on my computer, I restarted, I disabled all add-ons, nothing seems to work. I tried to install a new browser (Google Chrome) just to see if that works but I can not install either from the download file disappears and I can't install anything! I ran again a search of my C: drive looking for all the files that I downloaded in the last 2 days and he doesn't find anything. Backups are just going into the abyss! What can I do? How can I fix it?

You mention some settings. What were they?

You can try to disable antivirus integrated. This assumes you have real-time antivirus of files added to the filesystem via McAfee or another product.

(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

(2) in the filter box, type or paste the scan and make a pause so that the list is filtered

(3) double-click browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone to change its value.

Also obvious - this parameter points your AV file software - it also marks the file as from the web, which causes Windows to apply some security restrictions for the file. If you find that this change solves the problem, the disappearance of the file could be due to your security settings for IE for the Internet zone.
