It's been 2 months since I bought the laptop Satellite A300-1PH. yesterday, the first time I tried to see my system BIOS by pressing F2, but it took entry in the BIOS password but I never put the password that I am very first open.

Can someone tell me what is the exact problem?

Like Akuma said maybe the store you bought has defined a password
Or it's a laptop second hand the owner then has set a password and I forgot to remove it

However, a BIOS password can be removed from an authorized service provider. I'm sure they can help you.

  • Login screen - increase in the length of inactivity before that my computer locks and I have to enter my password to get back in

How do you change the delay time on screen password so that I don't have to enter my username and password when I don't use the computer for several minutes?

It is a part of the screen saver settings.

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop, then click on 'Properties'-> Screensaver (tab)
Then change the number in the 'Wait' box to set the idle time before the screen saver starts.
You can uncheck the box "On Resume, protect by password" If you never want to enter a password on the resume.
Then press "OK" your way out.

  • I downloaded a new version of WinZip. This misuse of my Firefox home page. I keep trying to recover the old settings, but there all including Bing like homepage. What should I do?

I tried dragging and deleting MyYahoo in the homepage and it resets to Bing, whenever I have reconnect.

    Hi Mnor,

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base How to set the home pagearticle. Your home page might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc. (and it appears winzip) have been know to ask to become your homepage.

There are the steps in this article to reset your preferences on the default home page. I would try everything first to clear all strangeness. If it works, you can try to set your homepage again to your personal preferences.

If this does not work, you should look at article unsaved Preferences.

Finally, your problem may be because you have been hit by some malware.

    Hope this helps!

  • Cannot change the home pages

I scanned for malware, reset Firefox, search and uninstalled all toolbars and unknown extensions, uninstalled Firefox for all users on this computer, deleted all the profile folders for all users on this computer and re-installed Firefox after each of these changes. Firefox retains settings and works fine until the computer is restarted. Then, Firefox comes back to home pages that have been set up several months ago. I tried this with different versions of Firefox for a few months to see if it makes a difference. This isn't.
What is happening on a Windows System 7 Pro 64-bit as part of a 2008 Server domain (no roaming profile configured).
Where it is to find the old settings and how do I get rid of them?

Use you the Advanced SystemCare or any other software security/utility with a protection function of the parameters? These can be called surf Protection, Protection of the browser, the Home Page Protection, etc. You may need to turn those off in order to save changes to settings.

  • FF13 different behavior on the two machines home page

FF gives different results than "Home Page" on both machines.

On the desktop, I get my set (the former google/firefox one) homepage.

On laptop, I have two tabs, the first of about: at home, the second is my fixed home page (the same old google/firefox one).

On the desktop when I press home, page becomes whole-home page.

On laptop when I press home, new tab is launched to give me my whole-home page.

The behavior on the desktop is what I expect and what I want. Which continues with Notepad and how do I do the same thing as the Office?

Check your settings on the laptop home page, you have inadvertently defined two pages as your home page...

  • Before the two latest updates of Firefox, I got myTELUS as my homepage, but it is no longer the case. How can I put back it to my home page? Thank you

I just want to make 'myTELUS"page of my home, how can I do this? It was okay before the 2 latest updates then somehow knocked out update "MyTELUS" as my homepage, please help...

    Here's how:

Tools > Options > general (or Firefox > Options > Options > general)

Here, in the home page section you can enter the address of the page you want to select as your homepage. Also if you are on the page you want to set as the home page, you can select the use current page (so if you don't know the full address, you visit the page and then do as I said). If you want to select a bookmark, you can select use bookmark , and then choose a bookmark as home.

Click on button "Solved" If this has helped you.

  • I don't want huge shortcut icons at the bottom of the home page. How to I get rid of them?

I think the homepage has changed and the toolbar with icons very big & boring inside interferes with my email, sign in. I now have to go through multiple screens to log my gmail & I think it's because there is not enough room for the complete log in box. I have to enter my password on a second page instead of a single click, as I once did. I followed several accounts of e-mail throughout the day and it drives me crazy. I don't want this toolbar or anything either. I looked through all the settings and the FAQ. Anything concerned with that. Please tell me I can get rid of them & come back to how it was.
    Thanks for the help.

I think the built-in Firefox homepage has had this design for a couple of years now.

Maybe you had applied a rule of custom style to change the page, and he's lost? One way that could happen is if you use Refresh. Firefox sometimes displays a message that it's a bad performance and you can speed it up by restoring some default settings. Additional modules to change the homepage or rules in userContent.css or userChrome.css file would have been removed in this process. (They can always be recovered a record of old data of Firefox on your desktop.)
