  In Apple Mail, Yosemite 10.5.5. There is no option to mark an e-mail in the Junk folder as legitimate. I have the active built-in junk e-mail filter. When I select the message and select «Message-> Mark...» "in the menu bar, there is an option to mark as junk mail, but not to mark as not junk. Similariy, if I press control button or right click on the message itself, the only option «Mark...» "must mark as junk. If I try to customize the toolbar, the button that I gave is a thumbs down/undesirable. From left to right, on the top line of the range of customization, the buttons are remove, unwanted as a pair, remove alone, only Junk, Archive, reply, reply to all, forward as a triplet, only answer, reply to all, forward only, flag, move, copy. No thumbs up/no no junk.

  Many of the items I found on the Web about this, including recent operating systems like Yosemite, imply that some people see a button not Junk.

  What is going on?

  There is a lot of confusion on what is the problem. I should clarify that my mail preferences say in effect "Trust junk mail headers", part of the mail that ends up in my Junk folder is NOT explicitly identified as spam by headers, so this isn't why the messages can not be marked as spam. Some of these posters in the other thread seemed to believe the Junk button is a toggle, that mark a message as not being not junk if it's in the junk mail folder (assuming that no header interfere) and undesirable, if not in the junk e-mail folder, or something like that. I could believe that for other operating systems, but Apple is generally not nearly as careless with its icons and their labels. and in no case is the MENU item in 'Message-> Mark... '. "forever; It always reads as"spam." In other words, there is absolutely no evidence that Apple Mail, at least my installation of Apple Mail, has any idea how to mark a message as legitimate - it is a way of saying current marking what the message.

  Your screenshot seems strange. Junk mail header is enabled, but what we see below is a rule...

  When I click on the header of spam, I see something totally different. I think that's where you should have this must be verified in whole - particularly the box "sender is in my Contacts.

  I closed an e-mail account, but don't want the messages in the Inbox to 'leave' Thunderbird until I have a chance to sort through them.

  I suggest you take Thunderbird into offline mode and access your messages moved. Since you have already cancelled the account if it syncs with the server your messages may disappear. That's why you do this BEFORE you cancel your service with the provider.
  Do not remove the account from Thunderbird before moving into local folders or they will disappear with the account.

  This sounds like mechanism of spam mail server, that identifies the unexpected messages sent to multiple users as spam. Other triggers that could be specific topics or the presence of auto-replies.

  The incoming mail server administrator can explain that, or put in place to avoid.

But I always get the message "Thunderbird thinks this message is junk e-mail '... Is it possible to disable this notification?

  I do not recommend because you would lose all information on training. So you would need to start from scratch once again if you decide to return to the TB built-in junk e-mail filter.

  I don't know really, I understood your problem. By disabling the spam of TB control, no new messages are checked and possibly marked as junk by Thunderbird. Not good enough?

  Now that your e-mail address is known to spammers, unless you change your address email, the best you can hope for is that your junk e-mail filter catches most of it. You can no more stop than you could if they knew as your mailing address.

  They could have found out about you because your email address was given by you or by someone else. It could be an organization that sells their email database and has no qualms. It could also be due to an infection on a PC that you have in the address book, not your PC.

  In your messaging menu, select Preferences, then go to the junk mail tab > under the "when junk mail arrives", select the "report as spam, but leave it in my Inbox." Which will allow you to have a chance to review and decide to keep it or not. You can also set the rules and add contacts to your contact list to make sure that they are not sent to junk.

  Open Tools(or AppMenu/Options)/Options/Advanced/general/Config. Editor, paste mailnews.sendInBackground into the search box, and then double-click the preference to set it to true.

  I know that in the past, I had the possibility to mark several files as "undesirable." I think remember me this well, which is an extension, but I don't remember that one.

  I use this because I use at least four folders iMAP as unwanted mail files. One where my mailer backend (spamassassin) puts all the MAILS, two where I put all the MAILS uncaught (which gets reported by using reporting SPAMassassin). And where I put several samples of 'persistent' anti-SPAM to see if I can write more specific rules for SpamAssassin or mailer settings to block/filter those.

  I have two questions to this using the regular configuration of Thunderbird:

  • When accessing one of the other SPAM folders, thunderbird think it should run the junk mail filters on them and everything is moved.
  • I want to have all of these files together. When 1 single folder is marked as spam, CT will be lift it up at the front.
