Where the second slot expansion non-primaire on EliteBook 8540p?

My manual says there are two connectors of extension (in addition to the primary slot under the keyboard) on the 8540p but I see only one, and therefore, I added 1 GB of RAM. Where is the other, or where the other memory stick can go? They pile on each other?

Hello:

If your computer laptop is not a processor i7 - QM, there is a single primary memory (under the keyboard) and a memory expansion (on the bottom of the laptop) slot.

If your laptop computer has a processor i7 - QM then, there are two primary memory locations under the keyboard and two memory expansion slots on the bottom of the PC.

Please check the motherboard part number descriptions in Chapter 3 and you will see what I mean.

My understanding is that keyboards are very difficult to get out after you drag the 4 legs and remove the screws on the bottom of the case.

In theory, upgrading the memory under the keyboard should be simple.  I did several nc6400 and 6910p that have the same type of locations in memory.

My 6930p was very difficult to get out the keyboard after slipping the tabs and remove the screws.  I jumped off a key trying to get off this 'thing'.  Fortunately, I was able to burst just the return key on.

  • Where is the second slot of RAM on Satellite M100-165?

    Hello

Sorry in advance for my English :)

I have Toshiba M100-165 (PSMA1E-01W00PG3) and you want to upgrade memory RAM. But I see just a free memory slot on the bottom of my laptop. According to the manual and specifications of the laptop, there should be two slots. Where is the other? There for you, and how can I access it?

I will be grateful for the answer.

You are right. There are two locations of memory, but only one is user expandable!
In my view, the other is placed somewhere under the keyboard.

But like I said it's only one scalable user. So, if you open the laptop to access the second slot, you will lose the warranty.
It is therefore advisable to ask and ASP technician to upgrade memory on the second slot.

  • Update the second slot memory for Satellite M100-221

    Good day, everyone!

I'll expand the memory up to 2 GB (1 + 1 memory modules). But the second slot so that it is placed somewhere under the keyboard.
    1. exactly where?
    2. could you please help how to get it?
I really have no desire to take apart the whole notebook!
Maybe someone has the photos how to upgrade memory.

    Many thanks in advance.

Maybe this page will help you http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-M105/take-apart-notebook-1.htm

I have to write something. For RAM upgrade its slot on the low side and in manuals s is described how this should be done. I don't know if it is advisable to remove the keyboard because you can void the warranty valid. Maybe you should call the authorized service and clarify this before starting the disassembly procedure.

    Good luck!

There is no second slot of memory in this model specification.

You need to replace the module installed with a capaity module above uppgrade the memory capacity.

On the three t pageit the manual describes two locations only on some models. It does not describe what models they are.

  • Can not find the second slot memory on my Satellite M40x-112

    Hi people,

I want to improve my memory, preinstalled are 2 sticks of 512 MB. In the description it is said that the maximum is 2 GB so I bought 2 x 1 GB, unfortunately I can only find a housing... Is someone can you please tell me where is the other?
    Thank you

    Welcome,
    Sebastian

Well, I found information that one slot is USER scalable. This means that the user can upgrade the memory only in a slot located at the bottom of the unit.

I guess that the second location is hidden somewhere under the keyboard and the keyboard should be removed first to reach the second memory location.
But this would nullify the warranty if you would remove the keyboard by yourself.

In my opinion, you should contact technician tan allowed for this upgrade

  • Die only lead to T3500 - can I put the new (soon to be OS drive) in the second slot?

    T3500 with single drive

    Windows 7 pro 64-bit

Original Dell drive (Seagate) is dying, according to Seatools. Cannot get Seatools for DOS to boot so can not do follow-up proposed by Seatools.

The disk OS must ALWAYS be in the first place?

Or can I leave the player dying in the first slot and put the new in slot 2?

I saved the player dying on a disc USB external, and done the checkdisk for several hours.

New drive (WD) Acronis, so hopefully I can just clone the old drive to the new. But I could always use wise counsel on this part as well.

You need not connect by USB disk. Connection to a free SATA port will be much faster. You need a cloning utility that you can put on a CD or a bootable flash drive, then just select the origin and destination drive.

  • Slot of RAM missing in EliteBook 8540p

I need help to understand if I have been cheated.

In my case, I have 4 GB installed in my EliteBook 8540p and it is only on the memory module connector.

Recently, I planned to upgrade to 8 GB and that I have to install both modules to 4 GB (a location is limited to 4 GB) but I do not have a physical location.

In the specification of the 8540 is written that there must be two or SODIMM four slots support dual channel memory.

In my EliteBook 8540p there is one.

    Is there a solution?

The module slot and soDimm primary memory is located under the keyboard. You have found the location of memory expansion module.

You will need the Service & maintenance guide to use as a reference.

  • Where the second RAM on the Elitebook 8540w location?

Hello, I have the Elitebook 8540w with processor i5 and windows 7 Pro. I bought two 8 GB cards to increase the ram, but can find accommodation with a stick of ram in it.

The manual says there are two slots for ram and it can be upgraded to 16 GB. But the video installation shows a slot under the keyboard. I thought he would have another slot somewhere once I opened and removed the keyboard. But there is no. Also, I opened the compartment in the bottom where other portable store their ram and it was not a slot.  My computer said it has 4 GB of ram installed on the computer. The stick I found was only 2 GB, which means that there are another 2 GB key somewhere. Anyone know where and how to get home? Thank you very much.

    Best,

    Jeremy

    You are the very welcome.

    This isn't the problem.

The problem is due to your mobile workstation with the i5 processor - it only supports 2 x 4 GB of memory.

You must have the quad core i7 for PC to support 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Please refer to the link below, page 7, double asterisk.

  • EliteBook 8540p: is the engraver of DVD 595759-001 for Elitebook 8540p plug-and-play

I have a DVD ROM drive, only in my 8540p here, and I just ordered a DVD (595759-001) burner to replace it with. Just install the hardware? Is this going to be a plug-and-play experience, or I need to find drivers for the replacement? Do I need to uninstall the driver for the original DVD ROM?

    Hello

The driver for any optical drive is provided by Windows, then you should just connect the new device, but it can sometimes avoid problems by doing this as follows.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.  Expand the DVD/CD = ROM readers, made existing right click the device and choose uninstall.

Once completed, stop the laptop and made the new optical drive.

When you start Windows, then, give it a few minutes to load completely and you should find the new drive is running.

    Kind regards

  • Where is the 2nd slot of memeory z60m (2529-WATER)? Help!

I try to get to 2 GB by adding a second memory card 1 GB.  Found the DIMMs installed in the factory under the Palm, but couldn't find where the second slot.  HELPPPPP!

OnTop is the location you found. The film installation illustrates this perfectly.

  • Second slot memory broken from the factory?

    I have a HP Pavilion m6-1000eo.

My problem is when I try to add more memory that it just snaps into the second slot. I tried with a memory of my old mac and to be sure that it is not the memory that does not fit I also tried to put in the memory supplied with the computer at the secondary location. The original mem. organic pollutants persistent and at the main location with a team, but it does not work in high school.

I suspect it's something wrong with the comp. from the factory since it's as if something is in the path of memory, so it cannot slide at bottom. I hope that you can see if this is the case in the pic.

    Thank you!

    Hello

I don't see anything bad about the picture. You have to push the module with more pace sometimes, but be careful. Perhaps a picture angle toward the slot can bring up more.

  • I have 8 GB of Ram in the 1st slot DIMM... can I add another in 2nd slot?

    I ordered a HP Evny 310xt 700 with windows 8.1

I opted to have 8ram in a Dimm location instead of 4ram in two slots...

I had hoped to get another 8ram module into slot 2 when my pc gets... so I'll have 16 RAM, but I have a hard time to know where I can get the original parts of HP. I haven't tried th parts store to HP no chance. I don't want to throw the 8ram far which is delivered with the machine and two others... I want to keep the 8ram that comes with it... and add a unique 8ram.

"The part number for my module memory 8 GB is part number 698651-154"

do I have to use the exact same part of the manufacturer?

Thank you very much in advance

    Hello

Yes, you can add 1 piece of 8 GB to the second slot to make 16 GB as shown:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04344813

You can use the other RAM with the SAME characteristics but using the same RAM is much better in terms of peace of mind. HP RAM may be slightly more expensive.

    Kind regards.

You may need to update your display and video driver

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded: run DriverView - define the VIEW
for the drivers Microsoft hide - updated those without drain in their names. (Also updated
    the BIOS and chipset drivers.)

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
