Where to download vCenter Server?

I can be confused by all of the nomenclature of products and of recent sound change. I downloaded the 5.1 esxi hypervisor. He says I'm in evaluation mode. My understanding is that I can download vCenter Server and use it in trial mode to test all the features. Once evaluation mode ends, I can enter the license key I received for esxi and continue to use it with the vsphere (not server) client with less features. I want to download vcenter server to try, but I don't see where or how download it. What am I misunderstanding?

  • Cannot download vCenter Server

I signed up for the VCP exam on 10 August.  I'm trying to set up my test environment. I have problems.  Time is running out.  Help, please!

I downloaded and installed VMware Workstation, ESX and ESXi.  I can't be able to download vCenter Server.

    I go to: http://downloads.VMware.com/d/

I click on: VMware vSphere 4

Then under "Standard" or "Advanced", I click on: VMware vCenter Server 4.1 and modules.

Then I click on the download button for the version 4.1

I get: "sorry, at the moment you cannot download VMware vCenter Server 4.1 and modules.

If I go to any ESX instances that I installed and click on the web page: download VMware vCenter

It goes through a similar process, but has sign me in with my e-mail address and password VMware on the way.

Same result: "sorry, at the moment you cannot download VMware vCenter Server 4.1 and modules.

Can you get it someone please let me now how do I get the Server vCenter?

    Thank you

Usually, when you sign up for a trial, the download will be available for 60 days (same amount of time as the trial license). If you have not subscribed to the assessment, you can do so at http://www.vmware.com/go/tryvsphere

If you have already done this, you should consider doing the same operation with a different e-mail account, ISOs will be available on this new account for more than 60 days.

VMware allows test or with the licenses associated with accounts to download any software.

    Hello

I would like to know how to download vcenter server5.1. Whenever I tried it gives me error like you are allowed to download. I need for the objective test.

Please suggest me how to do this.

If your company has purchased a vSphere vCenter license, your companies MyVMware admin can give you permissions to download the product, your company has obtained a license.

That's what talking about the thing super user/administrator. So you won't get randomly download VMware rights.

  • vCenter server 4.1 install not on Windows Server 2008 R2

I just downloaded vCenter server 4.1 and tried to install it on my windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) server, and the installation program always gave me this error:

Description: Product: VMware vCenter Server - this product cannot be installed on operating systems for 64-bit at the following address:
    Windows XP SP2 or higher
    Windows Server 2003
    Windows Server 2008.

After I clicked ok, then the installation process just stopped.  I scoured online for a few hours, but couldn't find an answer.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

This server is also a domain controller?  Installation on a domain controller is not supported and will not work.

  • VCenter Server installed as a virtual machine within a ESXi servers it manages?

Hi all.  I'm new in the world of VSphere... still in my evaluation period.

I have only a single ESXi server running at the moment but plans to add a second later for high availability, vmotion, increase general capacity, etc.  They are / will be ESXi running on the internal storage and the virtual machines running on a shared SAN.

Today, I installed VCenter Server 4 on a server at bottom of range/Office that I was carrying around running XP Pro x 64.

As I was installing I read the guide installation and to my surprise, it seems to recommend that I have installed VCenter Server 4 as a virtual machine on my ESXi host.

Now maybe I just spent too much time setting up my without new Lefthand requiring a 'witness' during the failover of one SAN to another... but I was under the impression that VCenter Server is not designed simply to host configuration, but is also designed to act as a 'witness' or to take account of quorum whenever a failure scenario occurred on one of my ESXi hosts.  I also noticed the VCenter Server features of a port "heartbeat", which I suppose one would use for the ESXi server heartbeat, but perhaps it is used for "connected mode" with other VCenter servers (I was intending to use only one since it is a small scale installation) I also felt that it would be useful enough to restore a damaged or shot ESXi host.

So my question is, if my ESXi host dies and it is where I have VCenter Server installed, then high availability will be unable to work?  I guess there are going to be other issues with me unable to access VCenter Server while I have an ESXi host shot, too, as a greater difficulty to get the ESXi up?

Maybe I'm wrong understand the purpose of the VCenter server... maybe it's not something that's necessary for HA, recovery, etc. and acts only as a configuration tool until something is wrong?  Or maybe I misunderstood the installation guide and they recommend only installing VCenter Server on an ESX box... they don't want this ESX box to be part of the group that manages the server?

Finally, if indeed they recommend I install this on a ESXi host manages... would I ideally be install this for local storage on the server (where I installed ESXi) or on the SAN (where all my other virtual machines are installed)... or is it just personal preference?

    Thank you!!

When you add hosts an active hemagglutinin vCenter cluster HA agent is installed on it.  This agent is what is actually the HA.  While necessary to add new hosts in a cluster and configure some specific parameters of vCenter vCenter's agents HA are self-sufficient and can handle HA failover so vCenter is offline.

You must install the vCenter VM on SAN storage, so that he can use the vMotion, sVmotion, DRS, HA, functions etc. that require a SAN.

  • Download link for vCenter Server Appliance (Linux)

    Hello

I have the following situation: we bought VMware this week for our internal servers and want to administer the virtual machines with Linux (and only with Linux).

I downloaded VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-5.1.0.10000-1065184_OVF10.ova and imported this virtual machine. I can now administer all our virtual machines within a browser running on a linux client.

This virtual machine is running SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 (64-bit) and I would like to download these packages install to put in place a dedicated linux server (vShpere Web Client Version 5.1.0 build 1063329, customer-integrations-Plug-Ins: VMRC Version 5.1.0 Build 1060398 and Support Client Version 5.1.0 Build 832030)

I downloaded tons of ISOs and OVF from VMware today but found nothing to install on a Linux server dedicated (except these tools of comments).

Can we put a link or give me a clue where to download or in what ISO is?

And another question is: is it possible to install

    Thank you

    Bernd

The Linux version of vCenter Server is only available as a Virtual Appliance that you downloaded and not as a separate package such as the version of Windows.

  • vSphere 5 vcenter server download virtual appliance

    Hello

can a peovide a link to download vsphere 5 vcenter server virtual appliance... for use of the lab environment.

I think that you need a valid SnS use of vCenter.  That said, it can be downloaded from

  • Where can I find the name of a vCenter Server?

For an ESX Server, I can find the name using the $_ - & gt; Summary - & gt; config - & gt; name, where $_ is a host view.

How to find the name of a vCenter Server?  There really a distinct name to the host name of the system?  If this isn't the case, I would still find it.

Where it appears in the object hierarchy?

    Thank you.

    3 ways:

    (1) because you connect to a vCenter server, you can retrieve the name of the - server variable

    2) there is an advanced vpx option that contains the name of the instance of vCenter: VirtualCenter.InstanceName who should be its host name, either long or short

    (3) If you are on a host ESX (i) which is managed by vCenter host, there is an exposed property called managementServerIp - http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vc-sdk/visdk400pubs/ReferenceGuide/vim.host.Summary.html#managementServerIp where you can do a search of reserve if you have correctly configured to get FULL of DNS domain name
