Where to put M.2 SSD drives in P900 Workstation with Dual processor

So I have a P900 with dual Xeon E5 - 2643 v3 CPU. I have two m.2 SSD pluged in a flex connector. I was wondering if there is any advantage or increase performance by dividing the two SSD between processors, i.e. to put each training into its own flex connector and pluggin then those in the respective location of each processor.

Thank you

Bench1

No, you should not see a significant change in the UC records Division. The FLEX connector is a custom x 8 PCIe 3.0 slot and therefore supports about 7880 MB/s to the entire map of FLEX. It's about 3940 MB/s bandwidth of each SSD m2 on the adapter.

Until your SSD meet or exceed the 4 Gbps by SSD, it is not a value of split.

    Hello
Four days ago, I bought R830-111 [PT320E-00X00XPL] and a - DATA S599 2.5 "SATA II Solid State Drive 128 GB to replace the standard HARD disk drive. Unfortunately, the new SSD drive does not work with this laptop.

Several times, after several reboots disc was visible in the BIOS.
But there is not the possibility of a normal use of the SSD.
I have day laptop BIOS [BIOS360_EC140_WIN] and SSD drive. That did not help.

Can someone help and tell me how to work this SSD ADATA and Portege?

    Best regards

Have you checked if the SSD drive needs a firmware update?
In some cases, this is necessary, but in the worst cases, the SSD drive might not be compatible and this means that you need to test another :(

  • Re: Satellite R850-12R PT52CE Win7 sees no SSD drive

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite R850 - 12R PT52CE and recently bought Adata SP900 256 GB SSD drive.
BIOS can see this disc, but after I tried to install Windows 7 64-bit SP1, at the stage where I need to select the location to install it, it showed nothing.
So I can not select anything.

    What is a problem?
I tried to search for drivers for Windows 7 AHCI, but found that for XP.
In the BIOS, I tried to put AHCI also Compatible mode, but were also unsuccessful.

Would be nice if someone could share the solution.

    Hello

AHCI driver is not necessary for Win 7, since this win 7 already contains this driver.
What you can do is to add the Intel Rapid storage technology driver that is available on the European driver Toshiba page.

What is the best way to wipe the SSD in this laptop.
Religiously I used always erase HARD drive to factory reset/wipe SSD drives.
The reason is that it becomes the player running "like new".

I was always told never to format these disks using a windows disc.
Erasing the HARD drive does not work in AHCI mode and you cannot change the SATA mode in the BIOS version :(

Is there a tool I can use to secure erase this player in this laptop?

    Why?
I put t see why the SSD doesn't have to be formatted before you start the installation of the OS.
I did it several times on my laptop where the HARD drive has been replaced with SSD drive.

During the installation of the system, you will be asked if you want to format the HDD/SSD to erase / format or create new partitions. You can do it if you want

  • Freezing point more of SanDisk SSD drive

I put a 120 GB Sandisk more SSD in my old laptop, and it now has a problem where it spontaneously freezes for a minute and then working again normally. No error appears in the log when this happens. I upgraded to Windows 10 (starting from Windows 7) and it is always the case.  Actually, it happens much more frequently with Windows 10 he did with Windows 7.  I never had this problem with the original HARD, or with a Samsung SSD Evo drive, so I'm pretty sure that Sandisk is the culprit.

I installed the Sandisk Dashboard, and it shows no problem with the SSD drive.  Firmware is up to date.

The material is a Compaq C502US computer with processor Core 2 Duo and Intel 945 Express chipset.

  • M6-1035dx Pavilion: clone SSD drive cannot locate the recovery Partition

I recently bought a HD 500 GB of SSD to replace the original that came with the laptop.  The SSD drive I bought is slightly smaller than the original one.   I used the cloning software is Macrium.  Partitions, I am interested in cloning are the HPTools and recovery.  Stand have been cloned successfully by the software.  I put the active recovery as well.

After swapping the drives, the system starts the HPTools immediately, but the options for the restoration part are "grayed out".  I can't access it.  I tried several times, and this is where I am stuck.  It seems that the recovery partition is not detected by the cloned HPTools.

I do not have the recovery DVD, but I have the original HD with partitions intact and they work just fine because I recently test the recovery process.

I missed well to clone the original HD somehow that the SSD is unable to detect the partition?  Maybe I missed a step?  The difference in the size of the hard drive causes a problem in the recovery process?  How can I remedy the situation and use my new SSD?

Thank you for all your advice.

Try the complete sector-by-sector disk cloning.  If you use Macrium, you will need a paid version. The free version just do enough for the advanced cloning procedure you need.  See the following web document to compare versions.

    http://www.Macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

BTW, an SSD detects nothing. This is the BIOS and the operating system that detects hardware, firmware and software.

You can use HP recovery media successfully on an SSD or not, that has at least 160 GB of capacity. Your 500 GB SSD certainly has enough capacity.

  • dm1z-3000 | SSD drive not found when cleaning Windows Installer

    Greetings-

Had this dm1z-300 in recent years. Works like a charm to destination (navigation, messaging, presentations). Wanted to inject some new life into it. Bought a 120 GB SanDISK SSD. Out of the old HD (5400 RPM SATA 3), SSD format on another machine (NTFS) before falling in the dm1z. Restarted with Windows 7 Pro Installer on USB. At through the early stages of Setup very well, but once he gets to the part of installation actually (i.e., where it starts to copy the files), I am told that "no hard drive have been found.

Drive is fine (tested using case of external hard drive on a couple of machines), so it's not the drive. Controller is fine, since everything works great if I put the old drive back in place.

So, what's the problem? Tried to jump into the BIOS to see if there was anything I needed to "change", but the BIOS on this machine is lower even rudimentary - there nothing I can find that transforms a HD (or most other devices, by the way), works.

    Suggestions?

    [SOLVED]

1\ put an SSD drive in the machine

    2 started GParted Live

3\ astonished all the partitions on the SSD drive - in other words, returend it completely unallocated State

4 restarted with the installer of Windows 7 on USB - which is now the disc.

So, apparently, formatting the drive * before * trying the Windows installation is causing problems. Of course, your results may vary.

Now, just to tweak the settings on the SSD, but at least I had a limiting step rather key (difficult to install a BONE when he does not see the drive!  ;-)

  • Where to put the cache of catalogue/cr in my configuration

Where to put the cache of catalogue/cr for best results

    Parameters:

Execution of lr 5 on Hi-spec laptop, catalog of 20 k cr2 files

    2 TB 7200 RPM disk internal w/photos

m.2 128 GB SSD - average reader system

good (also internal), 500 GB - m.2 - SSD drive, new EVO secondary

    All have 20% + free

    Thanks for any advice.

Normally, a cache system works best when it is on another drive of source files. This means that you would normally like the LR catalog + cache on a separate disk from the original images.

I put the pictures on the 2 TB drive.

The 500 GB SSD seems to be a reasonable place for the catalogue and the cache, but I don't know enough about SSDS to talk about the frequent updates of file that will happen with the catalogue.

  • How can I protect he'S catalogs when installing software for SSD drive & 2nd data disc

I know that this has been answered a thousand times... but when I search, I find that a 1 000 answers and none relate exactly to my question...

    I have a laptop

I have a technician install a 1 TB Solid State Drive adjacent to the existing "spin drive" provided with the laptop (1 TB)

I'm having the existing drive spin "wiped clean" and reformatted

I him have to put all THE SOFTWARE, including 10 Windows on the SSD drive

CC - Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop will operate the SSD

My 'current' workflow about 6 weeks of photography is retained on the SSD for faster treatment

These last about 6 to 8 months of photography will be kept on the existing "spin drive" came with the computer.

Previous work will be kept on a 3 TB external storage drive

I'm dragging 633 GB of photos of my 'drive spin' on my drive external hard to ensure the guard with the upgrade is performed.

    ...........................

And here is my fight...  I don't know enough about Adobe CC to make sure that I have all my files protect.       I know that I have several catalogs, but the drop-down list on the menu (at the signing in LR) shows about 8-10 choice and I'm only using 4 or 5!

How Lightroom find my Photos after I drag them back to the newly - reformatted "spin drive?   I know how to find a lost file manually... So should I do hundreds of records, I have?

Where my LR catalog folder will be stored?   Right now it is in my pictures folder.   It will be there if the Adobe program resides in the SSD?

I have more questions... but that's enough for now...

    Thank you

    John

First of all, your CPU is old and slow by today's standards, and clearly a faster CPU would do a faster job of making these backups.

In the second place, it is a very large catalog file, 9.2 GB. (Are you sure that you watched the .lrcat file and not the amount of space occupied by the photos?) Yes, you are supposed to use Windows Explorer to find the size of the. LRCAT file. For comparison, my catalog with almost 30 000 images is only 1.75 GB. All the brushing, you did apparently exploded the size of your catalog.

You can reduce the size of the catalog file by clearing the history on each photo (this leaves the changes in place but you will be able to go back in history and see the sequence of steps that you used). I'm not aware of a way to do bulk on each photo, but in the back of my mind, I think that this has been discussed in this forum and you might want to search for.

The last thing you might consider of doing backups until you go to sleep. Just leave Lightroom open until you go to bed, then close and let the process of backup with happiness.

So, that's all that I can think of to make this faster process right now (other that to split the catalog file, which has many disadvantages). Faster processor, remove the story and let Lightroom its backups when you sleep.

  • Continuous confusion know where to put storage vs Preview vs Scratch

I have read and reread and re-re-read information on the topic several times than I can count. But I'm not about to do things.

My setup is the C, an SSD drive where I have my operating system and programs.

I have a D drive which is a RAID 0 with two 7200 RPM Samsungs.

Then I have my E drive, which is a mirror composed of two Samsung 1 TB of disk.

And then I have the original external eSATA tube Samsung 7200 RPM, where I have my raw data, sound recordings, video sequences, etc., for several different projects. I generally support this until my external backup each time server I put new things on the disk.

I'm about to ask some very stupid and basic questions, but I need to in order to get this right.

When you set up a new project, PremPro in CS5 opens and the GENERAL tab I location downstairs. What is this for? What exactly I'm doing with this specific directory and where it should be located? What is happening here?

The other tab is scratching the discs.

I'm beyond confused about what is captured video vs video previews and who goes on what disk and why.

Can someone clarify this thing for me so that I understand because I just don't understand and I've read the FAQ and tutorials video multuple.

I would like to work out of my drive (RAID 0) D and E drive (RAID 1), or my drive D (RAID 0) and an external drive (saved frequenrtly).

Not all three at the same time for a project if I can avoid it.

Very sorry for some stupid questions, but I have several projects up in many ways and I am absolutely certain that they are all wrong, that would explain why I don't get good performance at times.

    Fix.

  • How to move iTunes to support SSD drive on secondary disk files

    Hello

I think the title pretty much everything said. My SSD drive app fills and although I have three drives in my desktop Mac PRO somehow the artwork & mobile apps are like 20 gigs. The music files are in a secondary drive. What is the best way to move all the files to support the HUGE secondary disk so I don't understand all of a sudden the dreaded exclamation point?

    Thank you

    Enio

    10.11.4 running

In essence, you must keep the support files in the folder as the iTunes music files, then let iTunes knows where they are located.

It is better than the iTunes folder everything will be moved to the external drive, not just the music and media files. The link below is instructions on how to do it properly. You "partially" here, but you should still be able to follow them, to make the move.

  • Tecra S4 does not detect the SSD drive

    Hello together,

I try to install a Samsung SSD 840 Pro to install in my Tecra S4. But when I try to install Windows 7, there is no detected SSD.

What can I do that Windows detects the SSD drive?

    With greetings
    Golfbaer

    Hello

You must add the SATA/RAID driver.
    Download from here:
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/RAID-drv-20070719134547.zip

Now, go to the BIOS and on the 3rd page of the BIOS, you can change the RAID settings to * 1RAID-0. *.
Eventually, you will need to enter the password 1234 + and then press on + ENTER +.
Now boot from the Windows 7 installation disc.
    Select "Custom Installation.
Connect the USB where the RAID driver files

Regarding the selection of the target (SSD drive isn't visible yet) disk, select "Load Driver" and navigate to the USB key, where is the folder with the drivers. Setup for Win 7 now allows you to select a memory stick USB attached.

Confirm and after that we should include a list of available devices (SOLID-STATE drive)

  • Satellite R630 - 11L - sometimes did not recognize the SSD drive

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite R630 - 11L and I just bought a Corsair F120 SSD for her, but my laptop a few times did not recognize the SSD drive and fails to start occurs. I searched on the Internet concerning the issue, but there are any topic related to my problem. in recent days, I have updated my bios but the problem remains. for example if I put the computer to sleep and he never wake ups as it should be. the blue windows screen 7 failure comes and an error message 'could not access the windows volume. If portable succesful started without problem occurs until I reeboot the computer. so most of the time I have to restart computer about 5 - 6 times to work normal. At the same time, I opened a topic on the corsair website. They told me to test my drive on another computer, so I test it on laptops, dell and hp to my friends, but there is no any problem don't like this.

So I test my ssd on an another toshiba laptop R630 which has a different hardware configurations, the problem remains that laptop too...

So I think toshiba may provide a bios update to fix this problem. This laptop really great, so I don't want to buy another.

y at - it advice to solve this problem?

    concerning

    Hi machka,.

    > I think that here is the toshiba support forum. is not here?
Here he s a Toshiba forum, that of right, but you can only chat with normal users like you and me. You will not find someone from Toshiba here.
The forum is provided Toshiba but for Toshiba users to exchange experience on different products.

So I think that the Quad is just. No one can say that every SSD is compatible with all computers. You need to understand this!
There are hundreds of different players and computers on the market and I m sure that no one can test a new computer with all SSD on the market. This is not possible, because it takes a lot of time and more expensive laptops that I think.

So if the SSD doesn't work, there is nothing that you can wait for the BIOS update.
Otherwise, you must purchase another SSD. Alternatively, you can ask a service provider allowed in your country, maybe that technicians have already experience with some SSD in Satellite R630. Just ask for that, they are the first contact for you! :)
