My external hard drive will not go up and I'm not sure what the question is
My external hard drive will show up in disk utility, but not of viewfinder. I tried to hit "repair disk" and he says it will take 4 hours, but after a while, that he's finally going to say that it is impossible to repair the disk and I need to make a backup.
Help?
Almost always, the question is quite simple: the hard drive is faulty or has failed. So I hope that you have a backup of everything that is on, it is absolutely essential.

I moved my iPhoto on an external hard drive.
Did you move the iPhoto library for the external hard drive or the iPhoto application, or both?
How is formatted the external hard drive? Is the file system on the drive Mac OS extended (journaled) or other system files? Is the drive directly connected by USB or similar, or is it a SIN?
IPhoto on the external hard drive will not launch despite the force quit and relaunch several times.
I don't understand - if you force quit smoking, launches the application, or you can not force it quit?
IPhoto is suspended without doing anything, when you launch?
What version of iPhoto does? And what version of Mac OS X?

JPEG images being dragged over to Photoshop are veiwable as thumbnails on the external hard drive. However back to the DNG RAW images are not visible. Anyway is to visualize images of type external hard disk? It would be nice to get a glimpse of what you make in Lightroom simply looking on the external hard drive you can with JPEG files.
The library, just click on the import button and navigate to your folder on the EHD. Choose the folder and click Add at the top of the dialog box. You should see thumbnail previews in the import dialog box where you can select what to import.

Toshiba ph3100u-1exb external Hard Drive will not stay On
Hi all.
I recently bought a Toshiba ph3100u-1exb 1.0 TB external hard drive. It works fine, but the problem that I am running is that it does not stay on for more than a few minutes. I don't know that its a kind of function, but if there is a way to turn it off, energy saving, I would have the accessible reader at all times, I use the information stored on it a little.
When he died, I can always press the power button to bring it up, but I would like to have it on all the time. Is it at all possible to do? A setting on the drive, or even within Windows?
I have the player hooked up through a USB cable, this PC is a little older and does not use for hard drives-eSATA cables.
Hello
In my opinion, the HARD drive must be checked with different computers and different OS (Vista, Win 7, Win XP). If the external HARD disk doesn't work using different systems and computers then it s definitely a HARD drive problem.
I have 2 different external drives a HARD drive died and I had to replace it.
In my opinion, if a HARD drive starts to malfunction then it s mostly a hardware related issue and there is nothing to replace the defective drive -

TOSHIIBA external hard drive will not be displayed in "My computer" (Windows 7)
Several months ago, I bought a Toshiba external hard drive and used to back up my laptop. I have not used since then, but needed to recover a lost file today. Unfortunately, when I plug the external hard drive, it will not be displayed in my computer. When I connect, I get the sound that makes Windows when connect you something. The hard drive turns on and I can feel it running. But it does not appear in my computer. If I go into the Device Manager and look under ' hard drives it appears as "USB device external Toshiba 3.0." When it is offline, it does not appear in the list of disk drives in Device Manager.
Advice how I can get to appear in 'My Computer' so I can actually access the files? Thank you!
Hello
This problem may be caused by one of the following:
(a) your player does not have a drive letter assigned in disk management
(b) the drive may be disabled or offline
(c) your USB driver is maybe corrupted
Follow the steps in this Microsoft KB article troubleshooting and check if that helps:

Seagate external hard drive will not mount
I can't get a TB Seagate Backup Plus 2 player to mount on my Macbook Pro 2011. When I plug it into the USB port, disk utility detects it. I ran check disk and it said the necessary repair disk. Then I ran the repair disk and it said it was successful. However, the player still don't let it go. The disc appears on the other Mac, but not my Macbook Pro. It is not the problem of the USB port either because I was able to mount other external hard drives in order to use it. The reader has already worked on my Mac until I updated my OS from Snow Leopard in Yosemite.
Something could be wrong with my Mac that prevents the installation disc, or is it more likely to be a problem with the drive?
I guess it is related to software driver for Seagate to support the NTFS on mac.
OS X support NTFS natively, but read-only.
The installation of the supplied driver allows read-write access, but it is obsolete seamingly.
I just got the last of Seagate site, but it is still pretty new. The Info said taking in charge until Mavericks only.
If this is the case, you can take a from below.
- Uninstall the current driver and expect to release a new Seagate. In the meantime, you can have read access to the disk.
- Uninstall the current driver and get the latest version of the driver by the developer instead of Seagate. The last time the developer (Paragon) even on El Capitan and without limitation to Seagate drive. (Paragon is not free but has the trial period - http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/ )
- Uninstall the current driver, then take the alternative. The son will be your help for this. - Need to write to the drive (ntfs) outside Yosemite

I can access the drive and it's files already on it. But I am unable to send files, more. There are a lot of remaining space on the external hard drive. And I use Windows Vista if it gives more clues to the problem. I can't seem to find the answer to this. Large number of people to open disk management and change the assigned letter. But that's only if (if it appears) if the player initially does not appear under my Computer.Again, i have no problem to access this drive and its contents once it is plugged into my laptop. It just does not recognize under the column "send to." It allows. That's how I was able to get what is on there now on it first.
Hope you understand. I'm not called a techie.

External hard drive will not mount after the update of the Sierra
Hi, I have an a Segate 1 TB external hard drive that I have with my MacBook Air. After upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, he refused to climb and is therefore invisible in the Finder. Disk utility detects the drive in NTFS initialized and said that all the space has been used. I tried to mount it first through disk utility, but it did nothing. Then I tried via terminal, but he returns "failed to mount. It worked fine before and also works very well on a MacBook Pro running Yosemite. It may be nothing to do with the player, as all files are intact when it is connected to the other Mac. Also, I restarted in Mac utilities and run from there disk utility, and it detected the drive, mounted and fully initialized, with the right amount of space being exhausted.
I am looking for a solution that does not copy the files off and reformatting if possible, but I'll give it a go, if it comes to that. Thank you very much.
Most likely your Seagate drivers are not updated.
NTFS is most likely the culprit here.
Go to the Seagate site and download and install the latest drivers for your drive and NTFS.
You can start here... http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/007770en?language=en_US & key = ka03 A000000tzbeQAA & k = n & wwwlocale = en - us

External hard drive will not eject
As I encrypted my external hard drive, it does not stop running after I press eject. He disappears from the sidebar in the Finder, but it does not stop running. I deleted and connected it several times and the same thing happens every time. It can be dangerous to drive or is it OK to remove it even if it is still ongoing? Is there anyway to solve this problem so that he stops running when the ejection? Or is there an another way to delete if eject does not work? I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9.5.
One that you eject the disc and it disappears from the Finder, it's OK to disconnect/manually turn off the external drive.

Click on Edit under a quote "to change permissions, click on change."
Click on Add.
Type in "everyone" in the white box.
Then check in the box "total control".

Hello
I use a mac in mid-2007, 10.7.5 mini system. I use iPhoto for my photo files only. I recently shot a family, the RAW files. When you try to transfer these RAW files and keep them in the form of RAW files on an external hard drive, the files themselves simply to the jpg. did someone knows how I can get these RAW files off my hard drive to an external hard drive, but keep them RAW and their original size? Thanks much for any guidance you may have. -bethsongs
TO export RAW files you select them in iPhoto and export (menu, file == > export) using the type is an original option - see export from iPhoto for more details on the options
as to get them off you primary drive - you can't, unless you remove them form iPhoto and empty iPhoto trash and trash system - iPHoto must always have access to the original to work

Pavilion dv2000 which external hard drive cases
Hi, in a few words:
My dv2000 broken 3rd time (Yes, graphics card problem) so I got new laptop, however I have some data on dv2000 I want back. My first thought was to buy one of these cases of disk 2.5 "hard and just put the hard drive and copy all the files I want.
Of course its never that simple... I bought a Lupo 2.5 "external HDD case description says its for SATA drives, and it is true that it is BUT the dv2000 HDD does not fit in this case, Yes, both are SATA, but it is the design of the case that could be faulty and does fit not all laptop hard drives...
My question is, given that the laptop does not start successfully, and is there another way I can get the files? Or maybe one of you know the other 2.5 "HDD box that fits on the disc HARD dv2000?
My dv2000 HARD drive features:
Fujitsu 120 GB
model: MHV2120BH PL
looking forward to your answers
Hello
In the photo it seems that the hard drive has a connector on it that goes between the drive hard and where it is connected to the hard drive of the laptop cart.
I just checked in the manual.
Remove the connector, and it must adapt.
Best regards
