  My HP laptop that G7 was windows update Monday night, it was all night but in the morning when I checked it had a blue screen tht says all HP and a circle indicating that it is loading but nothing else. • Vista theme disappeared after installing SP2

  I updated vista 64 Service Pack 2 to allow the installation of ie9.  After installing sp2, my taskbar has been changed and the vista theme completely disappeared.  Areas of the screen are now much brighter, lighter or white (taskbar now is almost white and has the old style box 'Start').  I went in the 'appearance' of the control panel section and searched the vista theme - it's gone.  Installation of task bar that I had before the sp2 update is missing.  How can I get that back?  I tried to remove and reinstall sp2 and restore to earlier date and put it back - no matter what I do the screwed up theme with no option to get the old back.  Everything else works fine.  How to bring back the task of vista bar/color theme?  Is there a file I can load up?  I'm tired of wasting time of uninstallation/reinstallation.  We don't like also how change is so brilliant screen - and we do not find a way to change that either - there is no manual ocntrols and not to tarnish the brightness - no indication 'aid' does not provide - it says adjust buttons that do not exist.  How to bring back the vista theme?

I looked in your question about your 15 HP Pavilion Notebook and the HP Support Assistant, showing a space where the question mark should be. Here is a link to troubleshoot the HP Support Assistant.   Thanks for your post.  You experience this problem on all user accounts?  If you have not tested, try the following:

  Click Start > right click on my computer > select Manage

  Expand local users and groups

  Click on the users folder > in the right pane, right-click and select new users

  Fill in the appropriate data to create a new user account.

  To disconnect from the computer and log on as the new user

  You still see the white background?

• Taskbar has turned white in windows 7

  My computer laptop windows 7 was in an aero them. When I turned it on, my taskbar has been completely turned white.

  I searched the web and tried all possible ways (without replacing the file rundll32.exe). Here's what I've tried and it didn't work,

  1A changed the theme aero - no result

  2. restart the computer-Nope

  3 Troubleshooting personalize(in advance mode)-Still no. It shows

  • (i) the current theme does not support aero-do not fixed
  • (II) desktop window manager is detected disabled
  • I also inserted screenshot of it

  

  4.I tried to open the taskbar option in the Panel, and it is said that not found Explore.exe.

  5. when I tried to check the level of transparency and clicked in the color of the window, it says windows can not find 'C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe '.

  6. when I click on the bar of tasks and menu optoins it shows some application not found!

  I'm not going to tell you, I have THE solution, but this is the place that you can check: your video driver.  See if it has been updated recently?  If so, you can restore it.

  1. Device Manager
  2. Click on graphics cards
  3. Right click on your map and choose Properties
  4. Click on the driver tab
  5. Click on Roll back driver
  6. Restart

  Or, the driver may need an update.  WARNING: do not use one of these driver update sites that you find on the net.  Use only your OEM or the manufacturer of the video card for drivers.  Sometimes Windows Update will offer driver updates.  Sometimes fine, sometimes not work.

• I have a problem with the taskbar in white.

  This question has been answered MANY, but none of these options worked.  So, I'm still looking for a solution.

  In Windows 7, my taskbar has turned white, but - after you follow the steps as many sons have suggested - nothing has changed.

  Here is what I tried:

  I went to control panel, then appearance & personalization, customization, then color of the window.  At this point - there are no other options to choose.  A drop down under the article... that changes nothing.

  The other option to try to select a different theme... they are all greyed out and I cannot select anything.

  I also tried to go into the Start Menu and type in Aero, but he says that this theme could not be loaded.

  Any other suggestions?

  Explorer is the question. Taskbar is part of the process explorer.exe only and it does not exist as a separate entity. Try the steps mentioned in my previous post about exploere.exe. If you cannot use the Task Manager, try the key combination to open the Task Manager: Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

  However, if you cannot use the Task Manager, try to clean boot (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135) and check.

  Remember to proceed with changes in hardware or software on the computer before the show?

  This issue would have occurred due to any software recently or changes to the material on the computer.

  Since the problem started recently, you can try to perform a system restore and see if it helps.

  a. press the Windows and R to open the Run dialog box.

  b. type rstrui and then press enter.

  c. perform the restore the system to a restore point before the problem started and check if it helps.

  Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
