  Hello, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S205 and met with some difficulties. The charger has recently stopped working and I bought a replacement - the original charger has a 20V power, whereas the replacement 19V power. However, I don't think it would make a difference. That being said, when I plugged in the charger, it says "plugged in, not load." I took the battery and put it again, in as I had a similar problem before, and making it fixed. The system remained on while the battery was out, and I noticed the battery percentage is not down while this replacement is plugged.   It's weird. Can try you to:

  1 turn on the computer with just the AC adapter and loading Windows to the top, slide the battery and observe.

  2. turn off the machine with the inserted battery. When the machine is turned off, plug the AC adapter and see if the battery is charged.

  I want to improve my S205 hdd to ssd but can not find it is support sata3 standard. I know sata3 ssd can works on this subject, I just want to be sure it is working as sata3 data transfer rate. If I switch to sata3 ssd I see the transfer rate of 550/500? All the specifications said capatible. Is it compatible? Thnx for answers.

• ThinkPad X120e unusual fan noise

  I've had my X120e for awhile now and I'm happy with it. The normal fan noise didn't me don't bother, but lately I've heard some strange fan noises when I take the laptop at an angle.

  If I start to slowly turn on the right side, I hear a fan noise that sounds like the fan is catching on something inside. This noise stops after two seconds, but again as I continue to turn to the laptop. I already opened and tried blowing into the fan, remove the dust, but it still makes the noise sometimes. The laptop continues to operate normally when I hear this noise.

  This could be the cause? Is this something I need to worry?

  Oh, I fixed it. The fan power cables were a little too close to the fan blades and fan would sometimes catch on them. I just raised a little further, and it stopped making noise.

  Lenovo customer service/tech support I asked this question several times, each to give me an answer to 1066 mhz.

  What is the maximum SPEED for the RAM/memory usable by the S205 with AMD Fusion the E450 processor?

  I understand 8G (2 slots of 4G) is the maximum capacity of ram.

  But what is the maximum speed of the ram? I thought that the maximum allowance is 1 066 mhz due to the site, despite the AMD website, saying that the E450 can manage 1333 mhz.

  Obviously, I want to max out my RAM. I went on the site of Kingston and used the option to locate specific RAM for this device and it gave rise to 1 066 mhz 2X4G sticks. So I bought and it just. I just want to come here and see if someone actually KNOWS what as the maximum speed capability (or anything else I should be aware of outside Gig capacity) which can take the S205 with AMD Fusion the E450.

  In new research, I found the following.

  (1) according to the support of crucial technology, the RAM frequency/speed is controlled by the processor CPU only. And as said by him, the AMD 300 and 350 have a maximum speed of control for the RAM of 1066 mhz.   It seems that if you have E450, you may have to 1333.

  If you have E300 or 350, you can have 1066.

  If you go to the Lenovo support site and enter the serial number of your S205, if will give you a list of all the machine components (including the RAM module manufacturer, size, speed, etc.).

  The manual indicates that the specification of RAM for my S205 1066.  By entering my serial number, I found that Lenovo had actually installed 1333 RAM in my system.  Then, when I added more RAM, I knew to add 1333 instead of 1066.

  Hello, I bought ThinkPad x120e, and my primary operating system is Linux. Now, I have used Linux for 10 years now, and I have not through such a problem until now, even if other people say that they installed Linux on the thing with success.
  I tried to boot ArchLinux from the flash drive USB, passes GRUB, but starts then stops at the message "kernel startup".

  I tried 15 Fedora and Ubuntu 11.10, the same thing. That once Ubuntu has successfully started (I don't know how it happened, by chance I guess), and it worked perfectly.

  I found the problem. When I make a change in the BIOS and then select 'Save and Exit BIOS', the laptop will not start hard, but will be the attempt to load the operating system. In the case of Linux, the kernel will not start. When I turn off and turn on the laptop, Linux starts as usual. Is there anyone with x120e, who can confirm this? Is there any where that I can report this bug for Lenovo? Thank you.

  I tried to update my BIOS with the data on the site of consumer.lenovo.com for my Ideapad s205 und the installation says that everything has been installed, it could restart, but when it restarts then it only reached the bootscreen in Windows and chrashes, with a discount to zero and the same goal on the first try. When I plug my external CD drive and try to boot from the Windows CD then it freezes not just... and I have to make a hard stop...

  What version of Windows you have installed on your S205 please and you see a blue screen error message until you restart the system?

  If you happen to have installed XP please set the SATA in the BIOS IDE mode or compatibility if possible. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the S205 system so it is a bit of a guess.

  I use sticks of RAM PC3 - 10600 S Samsung 4 GB 2Rx8 (2 of them), you can also use Crucial brand, or any other ram with similar specs.

• X120e Battery Charge problem

  I bought my x120e about a month ago and it's been great since, but recently I had problems with the battery. When I charge the battery to 100% and then unplug the power adapter, the battery is fine for an hour or two, and load will decrease to a normal and regular rhythm (indicated by the percentage). However, when the battery is at 75-80%, then he jumps abruptly up to 10%, and I get a message that I have to charge the cell phone or turn it off. When I connect and start loading again, the battery charges at a normal speed of about 10 to 40%, but the same thing happens and it jumps up to 100%, saying it is fully charged. Generally, I would be happy with such a fast charge, but in this case the battery is not really full as soon, he dies suddenly after that I have unplug the adapter.   I just wanted to post an update. I thought that my explanation of my problem of battery gave a negative perception of the ThinkPad x120e and lenovo in general, but I called the customer service of lenovo today and after 15 minutes, the representative has verified the problem (battery was indeed defective) and sent a new battery in my house. Overall, I am very satisfied, and I think that this problem of battery was only an isolated case. The battery is supposed to come in 2 days!

• X120e degradation in the quality of the Image/video

  Hey guys, first post on the forums here.

  I recently made the switch from my old macbook to a Lenovo x120e (I was happy to try all the new developments of Lenovo/Microsoft ), and ran into an annoying problem.

  My laptop has been running great, and everything was great, except that the graphics have become worse when I bought my x120e two months ago first. I suspect that this could be a software problem, since it sort of has coincided with an update of the systems. I hope that it is not a hardware problem...

  If anyone else has had the same or similar problem, so I would be very happy if you could make light of the object.

  A few things to do, in no particular order:

  • Run the software ThinkVantage System Update to update the ThinkPad X120e device drivers and machine-specific software direct from Lenovo.
  • Try to install latest drivers for the video card directly from AMD (these tend to be more recent than those offered by Lenovo, but may not be fully tested by them).  The latest version I know is v12.4 and located at the:
    32-bit: www2.ATI.com/drivers/mobile/12-4_mobility_vista_win7_32_dd_ccc.exe 
    64-bit: www2.ATI.com/drivers/mobile/12-4_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc.exe
  • Try to install the latest version of Adobe Flash.  The latest version I know is v11.3.300.257 and is located at:
    Internet Explorer: download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_active_x.exe
    Other web browsers : download.Macromedia.com/Get/flashplayer/Current/Licensing/Win/install_flash_player_11_plugin.exe

  Hopefully one (or all) the steps above will receive your graphics to where they should be.

• Bought 'NEW' on the site taken Lenovo X120e is NOT new

  Ordered Thinkpad X120e from Lenovo site out on 20/05/2011. Got my computer today (26/05/2011). No computer on the box record. Box comes with the (still sealed) X120e, battery and charger. No documentation whatsoever

  THEN... I turned on my laptop and it says "Windows didn't shut down properly"...? I clicked on continue starting Windows and a login screen username popped-up with the username: Evan... I do not know the password and I tried a lot and I can not connect.

  I can not connect to a new computer... It's crazy. I wonder if the Lenovo sells 'NEW' laptop on their site from socket. Lenovo call center is closed. Need action of Lenovo today ideally.
