Why do they disappear some desktop icons in windows 7 pro

I am sure to have the best desktop shortcuts disappear as Solitaire and Control Panel, computer and a few others. They lasted 9 days this time and it is the third time that this has happened. I'm running Windows 7 Pro

They go to the Recycle Bin?

    Hi Peter,.

1 when was the last time that the desktop icons worked?

    2. you have any security program installed on the computer?

    3. don't you face any performance issues on the computer?

4 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

    Method 1:

I would say allowing you to run the FIXIT from the link provided and check.

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/system_maintenance_for_windows/en-us

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, you can also run the Scanner security Microsoft and check all infections.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: there is a risk of data loss if all the files are infected and which can be removed in the cleaning process.

    Method 3:

I also suggest to try to run the System File Checker scan on the computer. The scan will replace all the Windows files corrupted with new ones.

Click on the link mentioned below for further guidance on the scanning of the file system Checker

  • missing traditional desktop icons on windows 8

Does anyone know if there is a switch somewhere in the system that tells it NOT to show the desktop icons when you use the display of the traditional office? There is no icons, and if I create a shortcut on the desktop it creates it but does not display it!

    There is a switch.

Right-click on your desktop to bring up the context menu.

Look for an option that says "Display" and click it.

This will open another menu and there should be an option "show desktop icons". If it is not checked, click it.

I hope that you return your icons. If this isn't the case, then some troubleshooting is in order.

I found out about this when my best friend called me in a panic because her desktop icons disappeared. Turns 2 years old was playing with the computer. :-)

  • How can I stabilize the location of my desktop icons in windows 8

I work from the office, virtually 100% of the time and I put on 10 desktop icons with applications that I use constantly.  I kind of want to stay in the same place, but it is still moving around the screen.  I have "auto arrange" disabled.  I use a lot is the program, so I'll have office up on most of my screen and side window has messenger.

Every day that I start, my icons have moved around the screen, those that I placed horizontally on the lower right part of the screen end generally vertically aligned with the top left corner.

I look for other matching, but have not found work from the search results.

Any help would be appreciated, I would just be able to lock them in one place.

If you use the component feature snap to snap a desktop application rather than on the side of the screen, the desktop itself will get resized to a new physical pixel size, and the icons will be move accordingly (so they are not hidden off the screen and will not you).  The effect is as if the resolution of the monitor has been changed (users who use projectors / TV, or other monitors frequently see this problem of "move icon", so you're not alone).

Unfortunately there is not much that can be done directly to solve this problem, at least not by default.  There are programs such as the great "closed Desktop" that the company StarDock product that help corral and group desktop icons.

Another option could be to pin your icons in your taskbar instead.
