  Yes, it looks that you need updates. You don't know why you can not run the auto-updater. The best thing to do here would be to download and run updates manually:

  Hi all I'm new to the forum and looking for some advice. I need to resize images about 500 down to fit inside in a square of 600px X 600px. The images are all different sizes earlier, the more they are all of a different form, IE. Some are more square and some are more rectangular. If it was a square image should resize to 600px 600px, but if it was retangle it would resize to something like 400px by 600px so it would fit inside the square 600px 600px.

  I am running Windows 7 64 bit and using Photoshop CS5. I had a search on the net but could not find any information on how to do this when all the images are the same shape to start.

  Any advice would be appreciated.

  I have the background layerand Bkg_Image layer and layer of video. I have embeded flv movie on video layer. On stage, it shows all the layers, but when I test the movie it shows only background layer and the layer of video. I do not see the Bkg_Image layer. Please let me know the cause.

  The Actions layer has swf external loading AS3 that works very well. Only the problem with Bkg_Image layer which is imprortant to me.

  Hi This is simply because your background shows that frame 1 - put your video in a MovieClip or expand frames on other layers to the number of images, the video needs.

  If your image is from Camera Raw, and is small and not strong, it may be that you changed in Camera Raw workflow options to produce a smaller image. Look at the bottom of Camera Raw:

  

  If your workflow options do not display the correct values, you can click to open a dialog box. Ensure that "Resize to fit" is not selected in this dialog box:

  Your device is supported, but not in the Elements 9, which is too old.

  I just upgraded to CC 2015 and reloading of the older versions of almost all the programs.  In Photoshop CS6 I could stick an image on a layer and then take one of the corners to resize it.  There is nothing to grab to resize the image in 2015 CC.  Nothing!  How am I suppose to resize the image and play with it, unless I can grab the corners and shrink and enlarge?  Help!

  First, make sure that the original image is larger that you need. It is easier to delete pixels that so add nonexistent pixels.

  Place the image in the template.

  In the menu filters, choose Convert to smart object. (Make sure that the image layer is selected before doing this step)

  Now reduce the size of the image of what you need (ctrl-t or cmd - t) when satisfied click return/enter.

  Because the image layer is a smart object, you can replace the inner image in another image and the scale will remain the same. You will find the option to replace the image in the layers > smart menu object.

  I tried to resize these images, I bought on shutterstock for a book cover, and every time that I go to image > image size and put in smaller dimensions, it is resized my canvas together and not only the image!   You get a better understanding of basic Digital Image Processing and how Photoshop works.  Photoshop is quite complex and all operations are not intuitive.  Photoshop has to be learned and a huge learning curve, you need to understand the basics. Power of Photoshop is in layers and there are several types.  Tool generally work on a single layer, but the size of the Image is an exception, it works on all layers in a document.

  Image resizing is done in two ways, and is controlled by the resample checkbox.  When the checkbox is unchecked is not that a single Pixel will be changed . The picture is adjusted simply by changing the value of resolution of images.  The size of the image is change by changing the pixel size images will be printed.   Norman offers an excellent suggestion, as always, but I like Camera RAW tools to achieve this.  You also have two options with the filter of Camera RAW

  The first is to use the Post crop vignetting, but move the amount slider to the right.  Note that you must control more with cursors after amount.

  

  The other is the game Radial filter (J) the effect of the outside and adjust the exposure for the amount.  You need to file an ellipse on the image initially, but you can resize by dragging the handles.

  

  The examples above are a fair representation of how well they work.  The vignetting is more controllable method IMO and gives a nice soft effect.   Norman method is nondestructive.  To have an advantage even by using the Camera RAW filter, you must make the smart object layer.

  The only way, as far as I know in the current version of Photos.app, to change a Photos.app picture in photoshop, is to export Photos.appphoto, then edit it in photoshop and re - import in Photos.app.

  Don't try to open pictures in Photos.app library directly in photoshop (i.e. open Photos.app library with the Show package contents) or you may ruin the Photos.app library.
