  • Why isn't Windows Media Player DVD more play?

I played DVD on my Windows XP Home edition before, he always played them very well, but then suddenly it stopped reading DVDs, everytime I put a DVD in (from the same DVD I used to play on the computer), all I get is a message that reads as follows:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because no compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer."

I don't know why he does not play the most, I've tried it on WinDVD and it only plays DVD when the movie is opened its files (in other words, I have to go "Playlist" then select the DVD drive and open the video folder and open all video files to it to play the movie...) I would really apprecate that it if someone could help me with this issue, at least let me know how to fix or what happened to the decoder or what...

PS: When I run " dvdupgrd / detect' to see my status as a DVD player, the window that appears named, detected DVD decoders reads:" "

    Hello Aly

Not sure if you need help with window or Media Center, but you can try the following steps.
    For Windows:
    Scan of the SFC
Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow or continue.
At the command prompt, type sfc/scannow and press ENTER.
Once the scan is complete, restart the computer so that the changes take effect.
    Windows Media Center:
    Reset the WMC
    1. open the control panel configuration/programs and features.
    2. click on "Turn Windows features on or off" in the left pane.
    3. expand "Multimedia functions", uncheck 'Windows Media Player '. Click 'Yes' to continue and click OK to exit. Then restart.
  • Windows XP SP3 - Windows Media Center__

Windows XP SP3 - Windows Media Center
I can't Media Center to play a video DVD. It is said that a decoder is not installed. I thought that I already have installed standard config. How can I fix it?

Most of the versions of Windows XP will not come with a MPEG2 decoder.  What brand is your graphics card?  Here is a list of XP DVD decoders:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Windows-Media-Player/plug-ins

My favorite is the Nvidia one.  According to me, there's always a trial version that you can look at without risk, but you will need a graphics card with a NVIDIA chipset.

Also, you can consider getting an upgrade to Windows 7 from XP.  Windows 7 works very well and has playback of DVD MPEG-2 standard build in. [1]

[1] while Windows 7 will play standard definition MPEG-2 DVD by default, it does not come with a Blu - Ray decoder.  If/when you switch to Blu - Ray, you have still must buy a decoder for it.

It is possible that you have accepted an update of the Microsoft device driver and you even had a newer driver and software installed before.  Microsoft certainly did not or that they take over your audio device - so you should check with the manufacturer of your device manually HiFi/audio to make sure that you have the latest software and drivers available for your OS (XP) given.

  • Windows Media Center Vista don't tune in digital channels of PCI digital tuner tv.

I recently installed a new Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC? ATSC/QAM tuner in my computer. Its a dual core 2.66 mhz 4GB Ram running Windows Vista Home premium with Windows Media Center. The tuner is made to work with Windows Media Center according to its box. He also had his own software cleaner, IE. WinTV, which I also loaded. I have an antenna hanging good input on the tuner card. That same exact antenna wire hooked to a digital TV Gets the following strings... 6.1 and 6.2 - 6.3 - 8.1 - 8.2-8.3-17.1-17.2 - 17.3 - 22.1
WinTV those gets exactly the same channel list and can display them all. Windows Media Center, after the execution of the installation routine, list the same channels, but do not think that all. Problem channels are 8.2 - 8.3 - 17.1 - 17, 3.  These channels show in the guide as "No Data Available" and when you select them, there is no signal detected. Yet, channel 8.1 and 17.1 gave Guide and discover very well. It is interesting when you go through special antenna Signal: settings: TV: Digital TV the 8.2 problem channels - 8.3 - 17.1 - 17, 3 list all the and are verified with check marks and show full signal strength. I spent time trying to play with the Guides Add announcement & edit channels and add missing channels. Also, I spent time with "Set Up TV signal" several times.
Any suggestions? Why is the windows media center grateful but not display secondary digital channels, still recognizing and displaying the primary digital channel very well. It can be the signal or the pilots, because MyTV of Hauppage shows them all very well.
    Help?

Try windows update.  I use this card with media center 7 and had no problem getting all the digital channels.

  • Windows Media Player cannot play the blu - ray files

I have a Blu - ray player in my laptop, so why can't windows media player play? and what can I do so that it will be?

    1. My first answer is the Google search for Blu - Ray Codecs
    2. My second answer is Google looking for a program to play the Blu - Ray (some are free, some are paid

I do not think that caught WMP supported by Blu - Ray, but Apple's iTunes, and its free to download for PC and Mac, but on PC it is a Devourer of real resources (RAM and processor). Now I don't know if this program works for Blu - Ray, but Media Player Classic home cinema SurgeForge (and not by Microsoft) plays most formats as long as the K-lite codec pack is installed. Both k - lite and media player classic home cinema (and not by Microsoft) are free to download and and findable by searching on Google.

Good luck in getting your Blu-Rays to play, at the moment I am looking at myself if my PC will play Blu-Rays at all.
