Why do my windows media sometimes not recognize that there is a disc in the drive when I am trying to burn music on the disc,

If you restart WMP when this problem occurs, which helps?

It seems that the AutoRun or AutoPlay got disabled on your system. Please try the instructions in the following article to reactivate these:

So, in the end, I wiped my computer and everything on it and rebooted again.

    IT TOOK FOUR HOURS.

So, I've set up the computer as I did when I got it 2 years ago, and everything was fine. I could insert a disc, it reads that and I was able to install my game, no problems.

Now, I have reset everything up, and there are more than 2000 updates to update installed. So I did.

    Hello Graboots,

Thank you for your message.  You can plug your printer on another computer, in order to exclude the possibility that the problem lies in the printer?  You can try using a different cable, for this rule as well.  Since it is a question of recognition, we remove the external devices before software troubleshooting.  Do you get anything when you plug the printer (ie. a tinkle of connection)?  Please let us know, we are looking forward to hear back on your part.

I just bought a Dell Inspiron.  It works very well except for my printer.  My HP color inkjet CP1700 printer is able to print 2 sides.  Windows 7 does not recognize that it is able to print both side and does not give me the option to enable printing two sides.

Did you download the drivers from the HP website or just use Windows Update? Try using the software from here.

Is it recognized in Windows Explorer?

    =======================================================

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

  • Windows Media not recognize that there was a blank CD inserted when you try to burn a.

I am trying to burn a CD and follow the instructions clearly for an engraving. When Windows Media then asks me to insert a blank CD I expected to continue burning once it recognizes the Virgin CD - R has been inserted. But it's not... It is not simply acknowledge that there is a blank Cd inserted. Can someone help me? I am running Windows 7. Thank you.

Well it's good news that sfc found no problem. It seems that the problem is with the optical drive itself. It is perhaps simply that the lens needs cleaning that can be done with a disk designed especially for the readers of pc, or you can take a chance to do it yourself with a very soft brush and a Tickle very gently around the area of the lens, assuming this is a laptop and you can see the lens - otherwise you will need the disk.

Otherwise you may need to consider the purchase of an optical drive usb (external) - they are relatively inexpensive and often provide better results than the built-in readers in laptops. Try to clean everything first well... Best, Ric.
