Why Microsoft did stop Windows 7 when Windows 8 is out?

Windows 7 has been/is the best operating system, Microsoft has released to date. Lets admit, Windows 8 is designed for tablets and touchscreens. So why has Microsoft stopped selling Windows 7 when it is perfect for desktop computers? I build desktop and I refuse to install Windows 8 because it was so badly designed. I think "stockpilling" Windows 7.

Thank you

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

Based on the information, it seems that you are facing problems to buy Windows 7.

It would be useful that you can answer questions to help you best.

1. where did you get the information that Microsoft has stopped selling Windows 7?

2. are you trying to download Windows 7 buy\ from the Microsoft Web site?

Although Windows 8 came out, Windows 7 is still supported by Microsoft and you can buy the same thing from Microsoft store.

No Option to install repair - SAD

    Hello

Why Microsoft removed the ability for Windows Vista to install on herself from one location other than being inside the BONE you want to repair.

I recently had a problem where Vista Business 64-bit would only boot to a black screen with a mobile cursor - KSOD.   Who, in searching the Web I found is a fairly common problem with Vista.  I discovered that my only option was about to reinstall Vista CLEAN and all the other programs I had installed under it.  I can't believe that Microsoft released the 'repair installation option"similar to that of Windows XP, where you can hit the"R"key during installation and we left with nothing but the"System Restore"options and"Startup Repair ".  Neither of which has helped in my situation.  Since then, this was a dual system boot with XP Pro, then any restore point has been removed from the partition to Vista anytime, I started another recognized problem, by Microsoft, which Microsoft has made no significant effort to fix, in addition to recommending that you hide the partion Vista in XP - a whole of XP.  That beats a little the entire purpose of dual boot.

As I tried to start in safe mode, it left me at the same point as a normal boot - black screen with a cursor.  I tried ctrl + alt + delete and nothing. Two Windows RE options did not help me.  This left me no option but to the completely reinstall Vista.   Why Microsoft did remove the ability for Windows Vista to install on herself from one location other than being inside the BONE you want to repair.. Please don't tell me that it is because Vista uses an image file instead of an installation as XP system.   I see no other reason for not allowing the upgrade of outside BONE in addition to Microsofts greed and paranoia that he can transform the operating system easier to install illegally.  I hope that some third party has actually changed the Vista installation routine to allow you to install Vista on itself, because as it is, it's really hard for me to even recommend Vista as the operating system or install any where else, if not the only recourse after loading OS, is to reinstall completely.

Adobe, Autodesk, and almost all other software publishers... allow you to perform a "REPAIR" of their software installation, if something prevents you to load after installation.  Even MS Office has a routine repair.  Ms has an internal version of the Setup routine which allows outside the OS upgrade option that you want to "Upgrade" / repair? ".  If not, why?

«.. . After using XP's repair function, the operating system itself would become less stable and frankly not in a good state of repair. »

    As Todd, is the answer.

"This response does not hold water as on one of my computers I've been running Windows XP for about four years now, after a repair install.

  • Why Microsoft did not recognize or set the iexplore.exe virus?

After cold boot my Toshiba Satellite laptop computer with Vista, pane the Task Manager process shows no instance of iexplore.exe. However, after using the computer for a while (using Outlook, Crome, Excel etc) my system slowly grinds almost to a halt several instances of iexplore.exe appear in the process pane, each consumer of 15 to 25% of the total of processor cycles. This becomes worse and worse until the system becomes unusable.

I belong to several thousand users of Windows who is plagued by the iexplore.exe virus. I used 5 different virus/malware removers (including MS Security Essentials and MSERT.exe), but they do not solve this problem.
Why Microsoft did not recognize this virus dangerous and done something to remove it? (ODILE. EXE does not help).  Only users that I found on the web that have to get rid of this nasty virus are those who reformatted their hard drives.  Microsoft can surely do better than that.
Has anyone found a solution that actually works?  (A lot of the fixes suggested on the net "seem" to work for a few hours or a day or two, but then the virus appears again upward and consumes most or all of the cycles CPU).

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • Cannot start Windows 7 Print Spooler stops (0x000006ba error) when installing or uninstalling printer.

This PC had a fairly recent reinstallation of Windows 7, then he started screening blue, run system restore a few weeks and works very well, but it will not be printed.  When you try to install a printer, it gives a 0x000006ba error code and says that failed to start the spooler.

The spooler may start, but stops when you try to install the printer.

    So far, I have:

    ran sfc/scannow

    Re-registration of dll

replaced spoolsv from the windows disk

has run a few utility programs such as tweaking.com, UVK and combofix

    Chkdsk /r

restored back as it would go

    remove the old printer

drivers wanted and removed old print

    deleted registry entries

shown ancient and hidden devices in the Device Manager and remove the

and basically, did every challenge on the internet.

Before I'm stuck reloading this machine again, I'd like to get some really advanced or random fixes that worked for you, when others have not.

    Thank you.

    Hello Kevin,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft Forum.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

What is the brand and model of your printer and your computer?

Try it out below mentioned methods and see if it works for you.

    Method 1

This tutorial is designed to help you identify and fix common printer problems in Windows, including print errors, print spooler errors, and other issues that could prevent you from printing.

    Solve printer problems

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows/printer-problems-in-Windows-help#fix-printer-problems=Windows-7&V1H=win8tab1&V2H=win7tab1&V3H=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab1

    Method 2

You can also try running the fixit provided in the following Microsoft article.

Diagnose and automatically fix problems printing and printer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/printing_problems/

    Method 3

If the question is always persistent then it means either the print spooler service is missing or damaged, I suggest you run the REG file that was downloaded in the link provided by Ramesh Srinivasan in his position, responded on June 2, 2012 in the thread link provided below.

    Deleted print spooler service

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

  • How to stop Windows Update to take keyboard focus, when you are asked "do you want to restart now?

Windows Update often wants to restart the computer after an update.  If you say "not now" (or ignore?), he will later pop up a question "reboot now?" in a bubble of task bar.  INCREDIBLY, it will at that time take keyboard focus of everything that happens and then accept what he gets as a response from the user.  This means that if the user was in the middle of typing something, the following sequence of keys will enter the bubble "you want to restart" instead of some request the user was in the middle of the help.  It's very bad.

Here is what just happened to me.  I was in the middle of typing a document when the keyboard focus was suddenly taken by the issue of recovery, a fraction of a second later, the following combination of keys, he disappeared - I have no idea what hit it.  Fortunately, I saw the flash and guess what had happened and quickly you press 'save' on my request.  A few seconds later, my application has been closed as the machine restarted.

I think that the bubble of Windows Update SHOULD NOT STEAL the KEYBOARD FOCUS.  I think it's dangerous and bad design.

What is the best way to communicate this suggestion to the team of Windows Update?

Is there a setting to stop Windows Update to do this?  (Stop stealing keyboard focus)

    I use Vista Home Premium

I'm looking for a Microsoft solution for the specific problem I described, and/or advice on where post for better attention to Microsoft to "design problem".

None of us are obstruction you. If we knew a way to avoid this problem (problem), we would have mentioned it earlier in this thread.

You aren't the first person to complain about this and I'm sure you won't be the last. According to Microsoft, you have two options:

1 use an automatic updates setting other Automatic (for example, download updates but let me choose whether to install them). or...

    2. turn off the automatic updates and get your updates manually (which I don't recommend).

If you haven't tried the "last known good configuration" among the Advanced startup options then do that first.  If this does not help, you must run the System File Checker to search for possible system problems.  Then, you must run the upgrade from the system tool and then see if you are able to run the SP2 update.   Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

I use Windows 7, and one of the things that I find frustrating is when you try to move a folder or file to another (now shift to move) the windows in its wisdom decided to open th efolder I try to drag the file in, if I don't drop the file quickly enough.   This often results in dropping me the file or folder in a different subfolder of wher I want it to go.   I am really frustrated with this and wish Microsoft would stop thinking for us and allow us to choose these actions, rather than forcing them to us.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I do not have a cure, but I have a suggestion for you:

Right- drag the file or folder. I prefer to do it this way because
When you release, you get invited to know if you want to copy, move,
or create a shortcut. I do not remember when it arrives
moved and when it is copied, and doing it this way takes away that
    the burden of memory.
