Why Mobile dots disappear?

I try to use a selection of light, but when I add a curves layer, the mobile dots disappear. I'll channels and control click on the RGB thumbnail to make the selection, and then save the selection and name. I then hover over the layers panel and click the setting icon (top or bottom of the control panel) to create an adjustment layer. A mask is created, but stop working ants and the selection is not active. I have to right click on the mask that was created and select 'Add selection to mask' to return to the ants. If the selection should not stay active?

Thank you

Jim Hodder

When you add an adjustment layer when there is an active selection of the active selection is added as a layer mask on the adjustment layer and the active selection is deselected.  If you want the ants back CTRL click on the layer mask to adjustment layer. Why do you still need them adjustments is masked by the selection? You can also run levels and curves on the mask to adjust the effect of the selection has,

  • Photoshop CS4 and the mysterious disappearance of mobile dotted...

There are about ten minutes I was pruning the pictures in Photoshop CS4, the marquee tools suddenly lost their mobile dotted.

Now, when I click on the Rectangle tool and drag to select an area, the outline of the selected area is invisible--until I have let go of the mouse when it pops up as a continuous line.

I guess I must have turned off the mobile dotted somehow in error. How can I turn on their return?

A quick search gives to think I can hit CTRL + H or command + H to put the moving dotted lines on and off. None of them work for me.

Other suggestions I've found are "reset" of the tool (how?) - or install a new video card, which should not be a problem in my case. I have installed the updates - what literally happened there, in the workplace.

  • Why my favorites disappear several times since the update to Firefox 39?

Hi - I am running Firefox 39 on desktop PC Windows 7, 64-bit.

    • I already know how to restore bookmarks. I just can't understand why they keep disappearing!
    • This has been bothering me for weeks. At this diagnosis, I backed up the bookmarks that I will properly. I even exported a bookmarks HTML file is a file of bookmark JSON backup - just in case I could have business in a corrupt JSON or SQLITE or another mysterious file.
    • Yet, my favorites keep disappearing. I have, for example, 100 bookmarks. Then suddenly, in the middle of my work, I notice some of my favorites in my toolbar disappeared. When I close my browser and re - open again to check what is happening with my bookmark backups - I see my old JSON file with 100 bookmarks - and a NEWER file that has, say, 55 bookmarks. Pouf! Forty-five 45 favorites have disappeared in a Flash! I restored using the old file to recover. But the disappearance of bookmarks problem continues to be, seemingly randomly.
    • As a last resort - I re-set my browser to create a new profile. But the problem continues. Then in annihilation total, I saved my password and cookies files DB, SQLITE and JSON - and did a complete UNINSTALL of the browser - AS WELL AS - delete all "Mozilla" entries in the registry.
    • From there, I downloaded and did a clean install of Firefox and put some data from my old profile backup files - in the new. I thought everything would be fixed. NOPE!
    • I wonder if there's something built into my browser - either an add it or something in one of the files, SQLITE - that causes this problem is disconcerting. Yes, I can restore my old favorites to their original state. But dozens of them continue to disappear in the middle of a session. And when I close this session - the LAST visible bookmarks are part of a new JSON backup file generated, but this file purges much of my original favorites.

  • Mobile dots

Since the upgrade to 14 items, mobile dots are almost impossible to see when trying to make a selection. Is there a way to improve their visibility?

Yes sorry about that. It seems that the pref settings are for windows only. Still having the problem with the selections? Try to zoom in whist photo editing, pressing Cmd and press one or two times. CMD-minus to zoom out.

Otherwise, you will need to reduce your system display settings below the native resolution, using elements in order for the UI to appear larger. Then re - set when you use other applications. But only do it if you can't read the menus.

  • Transformation of the tool selections pen mobile dotted

I have a problem of PS that is confusing to me:

I create a mask for a handbag that has a chain link strap. I used the pen tool to make a selection around the outside. Then, I made a second selection to the inside part of the strap. Then, I went to the paths and load of the selection so that I can turn into a mask.

Outside selection charge very well and is currently part of my mask.

I have still the line tool pen inside my purse strap, but I can't seem to load mobile dotted.

Is there something that I am missing?

After you have made the paths select the path Selection tool and set the option exclude overlapping shape areas, then the full

  • the mobile dotted see, but more "secretly" selected

I have a question about something odd in photoshop that I see.
I am preparing a scanned document and white coloring is for use in a process of animation:
-levels of affect abandon gray paper, stained, areas increase the contrast a little
-J' I select / delete all the white of the digitized design (various methods: channels, magic wand, select color range)
-J' I unselect the outer part (bg area) of the image.
-I make a new layer, expand the selection by 1 pixel.
    So, here's the strange thing:
I look at the moving dotted line closer to the size of the pixel and can see clearly what they're selection / do not select.
I then fill the selection with the color, but I'm ALSO a bit of filling leaking out of my selected area. The character has little hairs on the head, and these have been deactivated according to what was told mobile dotted. But it's like Photoshop has been secretly by selecting pixels without showing me.
I think this, because if I deliberately deselect one of these slight extra hair areas, they do not receive any color when I then use the fill command.
Y at - it a filter or adjustment that affects how the moving dotted line directly and fully show what is selected, with NO SECRETS? This seems like a bug to me.

Mobile dots show where a pixel is selected, less of that there will be no mobile dashed more than 50%.  Areas that are selected (where you can not see the moving dotted line) are so clear grey areas in your picture that you thought you completely cleaned, but some brands have remained.

Try the following - create a threshold adjustment layer and perform the adjustment of threshold at the maximum value (255) - this will appear then all areas which are not 100% white. Once it is completely cleaned, remove your threshold adjustment layer. You can then use your own image to make a selection.

  • On the «mobile dotted» newbie question

Let's say I'm trying to remove the background from an image by creating a mask. When I use the magnetic lasso tool or the Quick Selection tool to describe the image, there are a few areas which ran out of the tool. My question is this: once the mobile dotted lines are running, can I select the contour that mobile dotted create and sharpen the edge? Thank you.

Yes, you can add to a current selection using the selection tools

  • Why layer handles disappear when I remove the absolute positioning in the style sheet

Why layer handles disappear when I remove the absolute positioning in the style sheet, and I can't shift the most in the property inspector. Thank you, bryan

Layers are positioned absolutely. That's what their positioning coordinates
    makes them "layers."

Once they are positioned absolutely (via the CSS details), they are
withdrawn from circulation of the code of the page and 'float' on the page, as a
overlay, which appear when the code indicates to start (from top left
    then, coordinate height x width).
That's why you can drag the around anywhere you like view creation with
layer handles - details are updated in the CSS by DW by dragging
    your mouse.

Once you remove the absolute positioning, they are regular

    elements in
the flow of the page with a height and width. So DW deletes the handles as well
they cannot be dragged around because he no longer has all the details to
    update in the CSS.

  • Hello. Does anyone know why a dot on my videos but not my photos? Thank you.

    Hello

I'm pretty new to DSLRs and I have a strange problem, I hope you pros can help with

I recently had a canon t3i and use it mainly for video. A small dot (see below, in the yellow circle) has appeared in videos. It is always in the same place and it did not exist before. At first I thought there was something on the lens, but no, and the strange thing is, the point does not appear when I take still pictures, only videos.

Nobody knows what this could be and how can I get rid of him?

    Very appreciated

    Vlaminck

This likely dust on the sensor – don't be not alarmed, it is ordinary and easy to clean.

There are actually two filters in front of the sensor - then 'dust on the sensor' is really the dust on the filter (nothing can really touch the sensor.)

Most of the models of rebels have a self-cleaning - mode but it uses a piezoelectric effect vibrates the filter and I hope only to shake loose dust.  He used to always work.

If this does not work, you have two options... it take a photo shop to clean (some stores may practice you a little money... even if I've heard of places that charge customers $50 - I think that's quite excessive.)  The other option is to clean it yourself.   If you do a lot of photographry, you can learn to do it yourself as well because it is something you will probably need to do from time to time.

I have levels of aggressiveness that I use to clean a sensor... start by simply using the puffs of air (not very aggressive) and working my way up to the point where if nothing works otherwise, I could have possibly used the wet cleaning (but is almost never necessary.)

Remove the lens, point the camera down so that the aperture of the lens is facing the ground (or resting on a table).  Turn on the camera, use the menus and select the self-cleaning option.

See page 184 of your manual.  Basically you press menu, navigate to the #2 yellow key and navigate to "sensor cleaning".  Call the "Clean now" option (you may need to do more than once... but if it is not clear after 2-3 attempts, then the time to move to the next step.)

By the way, to check if it is clear, put the lens on.  Set the camera to Av mode, compose a value large aperture (f-stop) - say f/16 or f/22.  Now, find a simple white wall (or ceiling) and take a picture.

It is the sensor dust easy to spot VERY when you have a white non-contraste surface like a white wall or a ceiling AND use a high value of f-stop.

It is clear, very well.  You are finished.

If this isn't... next step is to get a hand blower - squeeze - like a Giottos "Rocket Blower.  I do NOT recommend you cans of compressed air.  These boxes will spray a residue (fuel) on the filter if you do not pay attention and then the filter should be cleaned at the wet.

Access the menu cleaning sensor itself, but instead of "clean now", choose "Manually clean".  This causes the camera to raise the mirror and open the shutter to expose the sensor (really the filter).  Keep the camera pointed down and apply several puffs of air into the camera.  DO NOT let the tip of the fan touched anything inside the camera (otherwise you can mark or scratch the filter and make things worse.)

If that is not ALWAYS clean, I use a magnifying glass to inspect the sensor to see what I'm working with.  You can buy these brands such as "Sensor scope" and they are inexpensive.

My next step is to try a VERY soft brush to see if he brushing.  Use without pressure... just a few features very soft and very light should do.

If none of this works, then it's time for the wet cleaning.

Buy brand Eclipse cleaning solution (made by "Photographic Solutions, Inc." and transported in more real camera stores (not department stores that sell cameras).  You can also order online.

You will also need the right size, cleaning swab.  This same company (Photographic Solutions) makes "Sensor swabs" but they come in sizes to fit your sensor.  For cameras with sensors APS - C size (which is what you have), you want a buffer of size of Type 2 sensor.

OK... the purpose of this next step is do NOT damage your camera buy waste of money (not... "I'm not kidding actually.)

You will place about 2 drops of Eclipse solution on the end of the cleaning swab.  You use the swab to sweep from one side to another sensor using almost no pressure.  Eclipse is almost pure methanol, evaporates quickly and leaves no residue.

You will now be IMMEDIATELY discard this swab.  (this is what I mean about the bit 'wasting money').   There are 12 buffers in a box.  You can use a couple of them to clean the sensor.  They are cheap.  Your camera is not.  Do NOT try to save money on cheap disposable pads and risk damaging your camera - because if this swab picked up a little sand, would you scrape little sand on the sensor by reusing the it.  That's why I suggest using almost no pressure AND why I suggest to use the scope of the sensor to inspect the sensor and see what I'm working with.

A sensor cleaning is not difficult, and if done right, it is not even dangerous.  But if you take anything to him as you have been cleaning a window, then you could make things worse (and potentially expensive to correct.)  Just go slowly.  Inspect everything.  I ran with the assumption that all which is on the sensor will scratch if I do not pay attention (even if most of the time this isn't true) and very light pressure allows to "tease" the offending bit of dust on the sensor.

When you are finished, simply turn your unit on and put the lens on.  It automatically closes the shutter when you press the power switch.
