  Others have an option to connect to your pc as a guest, to make interactive you will need to click on start-> run, type &-> gpedit.msc

  Navigate to Computer Configuration-> Windows settings-> Security-> Security Option settings. On the right side, look for-> ' access network: model sharing and security for local accounts "-> double click and select-> classic-Local user authenticate.

  Now another pc you can access this computer and you will be asked for the username and password.

  I can conect to my local box via sqlplus connect system@fred and do all the things I need. Fred is indeed running.
  
  However, if I go directly to logon to the box, I put the sid

  Connect / as sysdba
  
  It is for me a 'connected to an idle instance.

  The post, it seems you're on some * nix platform and on these operating systems, FRED is waaaay different from fred, FreD and all other combinations possible. When you mentioned the 'bad' SID, oracle has simply assumed that the SID said is not started and shows you the State of rest. In other words, this means for oracle, you must always start the db. It would be even if you change SID to rock, tom, robert or same aman too :-).

  Default dashboard for all users.
  * 1. Created a block of init session *.
  * 2. Source of the data used in select ' / shared/SH Test / _portal / Test1 ' double 3. The value assigned to the variable session CHEMINPORTAIL 4. In presentation services > Administration > my account > default dashboard must be set to "default". Then only the dashboard specified in block init will appear otherwise my account will override the init block.*
  * 5. Save the changes to rpd.*

  Don't run the copy utility appplication HFm when applications are in use. Let's say you have app1, 2, 3, 4, and you want to move app 1, make sure that app 1 is not in use.

  If some body accesses app2, 3 or 4, that you don't want to worry about that while moving app 1.

  It is possible to synchronize the devices using Firefox Sync, but it is not appropriate if you use someone elses computer.

  You might consider taking a copy of your bookmarks with you or placing them available somewhere on the web (or on a medium such as a memory stick).
