  Instead of LAN I use WIFI to connect PC and mobile. Read all communications and write operations are performing ok. But the only problem I am facing is that once I disconnect the network from a mobile phone connection my labview TCP read operation does not detect it and only timesout at the specified interval. Although for Bluetooth connection network if I disconnect mobile then BT read detects it as network conncetion closed in error by peer (66).

  Hi Zdzislaw,

  The behavior you're seeing is expected for TCP as the device will timeout while it is looking for the connection close the connection.  This Wikipedia article explains how TCP protocol works in relation to a handshaking procedure four lanes running in order to close a TCP connection.  I hope this helps!

• Debug vs out - why should I use one over the other

  Hi all

  I have always understood that in the preparation for the final release software and delivery that this should be done using the Release configuration. It's the way that other companies offer their software, so it just makes intuitive sense to me. However, I recently came across a project developed and published all of their modules in software using the build configuration Debug, and reasoning that gave me was that it makes debugging easier when troubleshooting problems after release. Now we intend to use this software for a new project, and I don't know that I am ready to support this reasoning. Beyond reason "because I said!", there are several reasons why I think this isn't a good idea:

  1. it is slower to run debugging code. but for what we use for (drivers and utilities for the most part) it is negligible.

  2. There is a potential for malfunctions due to debug code that results in errors or be out of date.

  3. There could be differences between the debug and release configurations (no not the least of which is the use of the _CVI_DEBUG_ macro to include the additional debugging code).

  4 if I remember correctly, to debug properly, the source code must also be available; and for me, this is a big fat no-no giant for a production environment.

  So, beyond reasons I quoted above, and assuming that they are all valid, can anyone provide additional reasons for or against this practice? Any comments would be extremely helpful! Thank you!

  It is indeed surprising that the company has decided to ship built in the debug configuration.

  Here are some more reasons other debug versions offering isn't a good practice:

  1. The Debug versions are slower due to lack of optimizations.
     1. The compiler tends to optimize the code in release builds, to make it more faster and perform better on specific platforms (it can also slightly obfuscate the code).
     2. The useless instructions or data are deleted in release builds.
  2. Less memory is used by the source code when running in release builds.
  3. The Debug versions may contain debug information stored in the executable/binary file itself. This debugging information is stores the data on the source code, the names of variables and others. This allows not only the code to run more slowly, but it also exposes internal information (this can probably still provide proprietary information to your users).
  4. Debug builds usually initialize variables and data with 0. This means that programmatic errors are usually hidden by the present.
  5. Debug builds are usually (much) bigger than the trade and slower versions.

  There are other alternatives to shipped debugging binary and perform diagnostics on them:

  1. Newspapers: The embedded application can produce newspapers in the special files/folders or the Windows event log. You can also ask your customers to allow facilities to record special in your application, if the problem can be reproduced consistently and provide the log output for you, for further analysis.
  2. Dumps can be analyzed using the same map files for release builds. Crash address usually refers to a location near a function entry point, you can track your mapping files. When you build your binary files in release configuration, the compiler can also generate the map files that you need.

  In addition, as ebalci said, you must make sure that test you your Release version carefully, before shipping.

  I noticed recently that scvhost.exe a host process for windows, use more than 75% of the physical memory of my computers, usually at about 106, 000 k, it's not normal that my system and it slows down my system, I regularly keep my PC, because I use it regularly at the College and put it on standby saves time as the stopping and starting of the system again Is there a version of the patch that will prevent scvhost.exe to use lots of physical memory.

  Edit: I deactivated "Generator Windows Audio endpoint" in services.msc and the problem disappeared. This servise is to control audio devices but I have a Realtek sound card and I installed the latest drivers for it and the sound works & speakers.
  Hope that helps anyone who has similar problems.
  Edit2: after as I restared, svchost.exe still using a lot of memory, but now it is linked with cscservise. Do not know what is happening right now. Anyone?
  Edit3: I did some research on the Internet and came up with this SuperFetch service. After you disable it in the Manager of tasks, svchost.exe became normal and he did not use this amount of memory. Also, I disable it in services.msc and I hope it will work as good as it was.
  Just do not know why this problem occurred, where. I didn't install anything recently except Battlefield 3.

  After 8 hours, I'm about to chuck this project all in the trash.  After spending about four hours to learn the basics of the edge animate, I did a project capable of evolving in the pretty good window for double for our mobile theme.  My colleague (is much more versed in HTML, CSS and Jquery I), managed to display on a space on the footer of our site that we had set aside for him.  Here are the basics:

  2 animated symbols, with cutting:

  • One path with seven elements of animation
  • One with two circles with animation opacity and size

  1 rectangle

  1 clickable rounded rectangle

  1 line of text

  Width of the stage is set to 100%, height of stage is 150, Max width on the stage is set on 958px, overflow is hidden.

  Everything works fine in preview and preview HTML (keep in mind that at the top of the page).

  Here's the rub:

  When we put the animation on the web page (in the footer), all items (IE every element except the stage itself) appear at the top of the page, is extended to the size of the web viewable area. No matter what we try, we can't the elements appear in the scene.  He arrived at the point where I'm probably going to ranger Edge and never use it again.  It doesn't seem to be any online support for this phenomenon.  I won't blur all in an iframe (as suggested elsewhere, because this isn't 1997) and it doesn't seem to be an option that I have not tried in the program.  Is this a common occurrence?

  It was an issue that was raised during the lab class and no one has an answer for.  Any ideas?

  I call it the wagon wheel effect.

  In the old westerns, whenever a wagon with a Ferris wheel to rays rode by the camera, sometimes the wheel would look like it rolls slowly forward, sometimes slowly propagated backwards, sometimes it would look as if it was stopped.

  It is a function of the frame rate of the camera over the period of the cycle of the spokes of the wheel.  If we spoke (or more) offers exactly the right distance between a frame of the movie and the next, it would look like the wheel had not moved at all.  If he moved a little further than the distance from rotation of we talked, it would look like it rolls slowly forward.  If the cart is a little slower, then it would move only less than the distance of a spoke and he would look like the wheel rolls backward.

  Same thing with having a periodic waveform (every bump of the sine wave is a spoke of the wheel) and a number of acquisition of samples and data rate equal to a whole number of this period (essentially the frame rate of the camera.)  Wagon wheel always rolls forward.  The sine wave is still oscillating.  But according to the rate of acquisition compared to the wave sinusoidal frequency gives a different appearance to the appearance of this sine wave on the chart.

  Experiment and give it a 9.9 Hz sinusoid, you will see that it seems to move backward.

  So I think (and this is only a guess) is that whoever designed the express VI gave it a default value of 10.1 Hz to visually simulate on the graph of the sine wave motion.

  It doesn't really matter what they chose by default as it is to you that the programmer LabVIEW to change this default setting (whether in the express VI or the wiring in a value) to something that makes sense for your application.

  I had a network that worked very well with three 2 computers running Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home Edition 1. Suddenly, the network has just stopped allowing certain communications giving the above error message (I have another thread address with XP to Vista computers). The main computer with XP Pro, I'll call A, the second computer with XP Pro, I'll call B and third with XP Home will be C. All computers can share files and printers then without any changes to the system that occurred the following:

  A can access the documents and printers on B and C

  B may NOT have access to documents or printers on one, but access to documents and printers on C

  C cannot have access to the documents on one, but CAN access A printer and CAN access the documents and printers on B

  When access is denied error message is displayed:

  As I said access from all computers on this network was working fine a week ago and there has been absolutely no changes made to the network. I checked the following

  1. workgroup name on all computers are the same
  2. file and printer sharing are enabled for all computers.
  3. all computers may been from each computers just denied in some cases.

  The firewall that runs on all three machines is AVG and there were no changes to the one last week, but I checked that sharing is allowed.

  I even tried to run the Configuration Wizard from the network on all computers to see if it works, but the same exact problems occur after doing this.

  I met this problem now THREE times. I can't believe that I'm the only one who has this problem and I can't believe that there isn't a solution for it. None of the Microsoft documentation has even a hint of a solution for this specific problem.

  I need a solution that closes completely the network at my church, and they cannot afford to buy printers and others for each of their computers.

• Unable to connect to HP 8600 (N911g) even if it is on the network

  I have a HP 8600 Plus (N911g) connected to my wireless network. I can access the internet (for his address eprint - that works). Wireless test says everything happening. If it is in "standby" I need to wake up and hit the ePrint button to connect and see there address - email then it prints. A little defeated the purpose printing when you are away, right? Is this a normal behavior?

  I'm just as puzzled. I just for the firewall of the router (which is not blocking anything for a number of reasons) and windows firewall (which is disabled).

  On a whim, I went through all the settings on the access point. Non of my other wireless devices have trouble and I haven't changed anything recently, but I understood what the heck.

  There's a new firmware update available, which I applied.

  After some reading, I changed "bandwidth:" (a setting I'm not familiar entireless with) from 40 MHz to 20 MHz.

  I also changed the mixed G only in B/G/N mode and switch the channel to another.

  Something is it seems there have been fixed! At least for now. For the most part. My iOS devices still don't find it anymore, but it was not a major concern of mine. All my computers have been able to print consistantly for about 24 hours.

  I follow if I start having problems again, and maybe this will helkp someone else.

  I understand why it show up under available wireless networks. But not the network infrastructure.

  I have not connected to it, is not my router, and it is not there. It is a little disconcerting, to say the least.

  Can't really answer. I can only say that turning on the Details view for the page shows that the alien router isn't listed in my network location. A network infrastructure device is that in theory I 'could' connect to research a little further into the router configs (properties because it gives model, series No, MAC address and unique identifier #) indicates that the owner has set up to use WiFi Protected Setup to allow wireless devices to connect (requiring a fixed number of pine).  So, if I had the PIN to the router, I was able to connect to its network. Maybe that's why it appears. If your mystery router is configured in the same way, this could be a further indication as to why these routers being listed in the title of the Network Infrastructure while all other neighboring routers are not.

• Get the network on Lenovo x 240 M5 node link in a chassis with 2 EN4093R IOM 8721HC1 IBM

  So I put to update the BMC firmware to support the M5s. The IMM all works very well. I have an CN4054S adapter that I have disabled the multi-channel mode and all ports except port 0 in the IMM node. 1 IOM works for other nodes of era of M4 in the chassis with 2 port emulex adapters. I want to only 10 Gbit ethernet - there is no network convergence going on. I'm not really sure how to determine which port should be on the IOM, but all the ports are enabled. We try to use VLAN1. The NETWORK card has no configuration of VLAN. The IMM shows the physical port out of service. Any ideas that I do get the coming port?
