  Try this:

  Go to: Mac/HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins

  Trash the files AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

  Empty the trash

  Restart Safari. You can now download the PDFs intact.

  Google Chrome is a problem:

  • If you use the clean Chrome PDF Viewer, the results are unpredictable.
  • If you use the Adobe Reader with Chrome plugin, it can reject (block) If this isn't the latest version.  11.0.08 drive is the latest version for Windows XP, but Chrome can insist on the current version 11.0.10.

  My suggestion; Use a different browser!

  I have a desktop running windows 7 (64-bit) and adobe programs work very well in Administrator account until I added another user.  After you have added the user account standard adobe (reader, Flash Player) programs work fine on the standard account and not on the administrator account. It doesn't matter if I'm trying to use through a browser or not.

  I have Adobe reader DC and received failure error messages during the installation of the updates.  It had to do with permissions for some files.  It has been suggested that I have uninstall Adobe Reader DC and then reinstall it.  Uninstalled the program with no problem, but he will now let me not reinstall the program.  It says that a newer version is already installed.  When I click Start and all programs-> Adobe Acrobat DC aren't in the list. There are records that the uninstaller does not remove this need deleted?   I really need this program on my computer.  My operating system is Windows 7.  Thank you

  Are you talking about the Reader or Acrobat? If you can try to use this tool on Reader, first remove all traces of your computer:

  After downloading, restart your computer and run the Setup program before anything else.

  I never had no problem download and playback of .pdf files to what I 'upgraded' Adobe reader version 11.   You could try the following:

  (1) change your preference for 'Preview in Firefox' and use the download button to save the file. But it's an extra step.

  (2) change your preference to "Always ask" and see if you can get the file to open it in this way.

  (3) delete the file from your application's preferences (it is sometimes damaged) and try again. Note: these are only the preferences for which applications manage what types of content, not all your Firefox preferences.

  To do this:

  (i) open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

  Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

  (ii) switch back to Firefox and the output. Your Windows Explorer window should go back to the foreground. Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup.

  (iii) and rename the mimeTypes.rdf something like mimeTypes.old

  (iv) restart Firefox. It is likely you will default to 'Preview in Firefox' and I hope that the paths for Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat will now be correct if you choose one of those.

  Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, this does not solve the problem - I think it may be a software problem and a hardware, that is, the touch screen is the default input device because it is used also in tablet form.

  For now I have switched to Foxit Reader and can confirm the pinch to zoom-the touchpad works in this software (I do not mean to be inflammatory, but rather as at least temporary difficulty for users experiencing this problem!).  However, I am not aware of the alternatives comparable to Adobe Illustrator, so I'll have to support limiting it.
