  I went to rename a file today and some letters of the alphabet appear on the screen when I typed them on my laptop. I'm using Vista on a Dell computer, but I don't think that it's the laptop, since the letters appears on a Word document and they work fine now. I think that the letters were T,C,H and V. All other letters work fine.

  I have the soda on the keys accidentally spills earlier today, but I cleaned up as quickly as possible, and really didn't have any other problems with it, except that the Shift key sticks a bit, I think. I think it's the soda causing the problem with the missing letters, but it's only when I go to rename a folder. I tried out too many Documents, but that did not help.

  If someone could let me know how I could solve this problem, it would be great. It is not a major problem, just an irritation.

  In fact, I don't know what happened, but I just tried renaming a folder under the side to see if it still worked, and today it let me type T, C, H and V. I do not know!!! It works fine now. Weird...

• Sometimes my keyboard stops responding when you use Photoshop CS6, & I have to restart

  Since I've upgraded to Photoshop CS6, I found that every one time from time to time the keyboard not responding.  I can't tell if something specific that I'm doing it triggers, but I will be editing an image and press a shortcut key and find that it doesn't work. This does not happen when I first open an image, but usually after that I worked for a while. As far as I can tell (it's pretty random) it seems to happen when I use a tool to apply an effect to an image, like this last time, it happened when I used the Spot Healing Brush several times on a photograph. (Of course it could be correlation without causation, since I'm a big fan of the Spot Healing Brush and tend to use a little whenever I'm editing photos). Note that the modifier keys still work, but all the letters and the keys do not respond.

  Sometimes - and lately it seems that it always happens, there is a sound associated with the shut-off valve.  It is possible that the times I heard the noise, I had my speakers.  It's a short clicking noise - and I don't think that's it integrated alert sounds on my Mac, because I just listened to each other and I remember that noise is different - but the sound is certainly coming from my speakers and is not a mechanical noise from the machine.  I don't know what could be causing this. I saw someone complaining about this a couple of years, who thought it might have to do with a Wacom tablet. I own one, but do not always use it, and what happens even when I'm not using it.  The only way I found to get my keyboard answer again is close Photoshop and restart.

  I'm on a Macbook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB of Ram. I'm on OS X 10.7.4 (not quite ready for Mountain Lion).

  Okay - looks like I solved my problem after a few hours looking for related problems on the web.  It is not a problem with Photoshop but with Mac OS X.  The mouse and trackpad 'Universal access' default preferences are set to "Press the Option five times to enable or disable MouseKeys." So, when I use a tool that I'm editing with the option key, key and I repeatedly use it five times in a row, I hear the rattling which means "Mouse keys" lights (and disable the regular keys). Turn this option off, and the problem is solved!

  Do you know when this started?  The simplest solution because I have no idea of what is happened to cause this is to restore the system to a point BEFORE this problem started (and give it a a few days to be sure).  If you use Windows 7, see:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html.   My photos about 12000 are downloaded and stored on a new 1 TB external harddrive, my photos have never seen my hard drive. My external hard drive is plugged into a USB port of multiples. This external hard drive has never operated from one USB port to another, and I use this drive for about 5 months. This external hard drive has always been labeled as drive I have on my computer but now has affected his drive like K... it did so without any human intervention known. I'm the only man in my house and I brought no changes to registry on this computer. As a result of this reallocation of external hard drives, LR and CS5 and bridge have no working link to this hard drive with all my photos. I've considered using syncronize files in LR, but it does not find any pictures of syn, since the disk has been renamed and I need to reassign a new drive for my pic folder. I hope that you understand what is my problem and what kind of recommendation, you can suggest to restore the drive letter or just go ahead and re do all the photos on a disk. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe, also don't forget, I'm not a computer engineer, I am a 50 years old, who knows just enough to make the computer responds for me.

  I had this problem on Vista. I don't know how the drive letter has changed, but the sorted following it:

  -Control Panel

  -Computer management

  -Disk management

  -Right click on the relevant drive

  Choose/change drive letter

  Try the following.

  Download the installer from IDT Audio relevant on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  IDT Audio Driver - Windows 8.

  IDT Audio Driver - Windows 7.

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

  Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

  Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.
