Why sql sever database design is used for essbas?

Hello
I'm new on Hyperion technology. I would like to know why we use any RDBM as sql sever design of database for essbase, which in itself is the database. What is the main difference between these two databases?
My understanding is that law Essbase as same as SSAS for cube and the strengthening of the dimension. And they use the database design to store tables and other information.

Thank you

A relational database can be used for a number of reasons with Essbase (and in some cases). It comes
1. a repository for system tables for Shared services, EAS, Studio, EPMA, workspace, etc. of financial management
2. a data source to load Essbase
3. a workspace for transformations

  • Why the battery fully charged but used for 5 minutes will be disabled it?

    Hello

    In fact I use iPad Air for 2 and a half years, but already had battery problem.i went to the premium Center in Penang service ask about it. Just give them the answer because the warranty is already so just may 1 to 1 change but must load RM1300 to change. Some can no longer repair. I feel unworthy because even if I bought the Sony Xperia Acro S used more than iPad but still better than the iPad battery. All my friends said that rarely face this kind of problem. How I'm going to support again once because of battery problem can't fix, and change must pay for the new ipad.

    Hello

    Because the warranty is over, you can buy one off replacement warranty

    But you have to pay part of the cost.

    You must make an appointment on apple store.

  • Why this flash drive cannot be used for loan boost in windows 7?

    I have a flash drive 8 GB Kingston which is useless, but functional. I decided to use it to boost lending. So, when I go to ready boost in windows 7, it says this drive cannot be used as ready boost I've tried several times but the same answer. When I try to use it as ready boost preview of consumer windows it says OK. I have set up as ready boost. I also format and then try but same answer in windows 7. How can I use this disk as ready boost in windows 7?

    Sometimes the reader is not fast enough for Readyboost. BTW: How much memory you have in your PC? You can even no need for ReadyBoost.

  • Examples of pl/sql code that can be used in training for new developers

    Hello

    I'm working on a training ride on the pl/sql to some developers who are totally new to PL/SQL. Although they are experienced in another language. I have power point on pl/sql presentations, but they especially the theory oriented with just a few examples. I'm looking for more help to have a few example pl/sql that can be given to interns as the code for example and also to practice. It should be a bit detailed and like to print the odd numbers or print "hellp world." Can anyone help to suggest if there is an example of code that is a bit detailed with a kind of complex problem which will give students a hands good example? I see a nice example at this link: http://tucano.tucanowebdesign.com/oracle/tutorial5.html - on an inventory system. It gives the feeling of being one on the issue of real-world work. So that if anyone knows of some other example say about 150 t0 300 lines or so of the code, I'll be grateful if it is shared.

    Thank you

    OrauserN

    That said, I feel again (my perception) that more code a person writing/comments the better he gets. So, I want students to examine several code examples. I guess I need to see some books to bring out some really long piece of PL/SQL - like case studies.

    . . .
    But these guys are too busy and so I try to find the net / books some really detailed examples.

    But you seem to be overlooking that PL/SQL is supposed to be used for: PL means "procedural language.

    So, PL/SQL must be used to 'procedure' treatment; This is typically several process steps. For example, when you want to run three applications as a "TRANSACTION". If all three completed successfully you COMMIT and if any of the three you don't ROLLBACK.

    You can do this by using SQL only. And a developer doesn't have to write the code until they have a technical requirements doc that explains what problem the code is supposed to solve and the constraints and requirements that the code must implement.

    So, my suggestion is the following:

    1. identify and teach the types of issues that PL/SQL is used to help solve. Multi-step transactions, I mentioned above is an example

    2. use the documentation and the code of your own organization in the form of samples. These 'guy' is perhaps too busy, but they should be able to provide to you all the documents for the code they wrote and that you use which would be good to use as examples. If they have no documents technical requirements so you just identify a MAJOR gap in the operations of your org that you must bring to the attention of management.

    3. you can provide value added a lot more if you use code from your own org as a basis for what you are doing. A very useful training exercise is to ask students to perform 'code review' of a code (a procedure or function) and write simple comments, one line that explain, in plain English, what makes each piece of code.

    4 comments, students create to step #3 can actually be incorporated into your code then existing so that future developers can use these comments to understand what the code actually does.

    5 part of your 'education' should be on the way to 'test' correctly a piece of code PL/SQL to make sure it is doing what it is supposed to do. Again, if your students actually your own org code allows to create tests, these tests can then be added as a result of 'test' for this application and that adds value. A lot of times those developers 'busy' will not create the actual test cases and that your students can help remedy that. In addition, it does no good to know how to write PL/SQL code if you don't know how to test properly.

  • VIX file in the user interface designer receives the data from the Web service application that communicates with the SQL server database

    I created the Web service VI ("Mt-insolacije.vi"), which has two terminals of the input string (FROM / TO) for the dates of arrival and exit of two data terminals (table 1 d) from database (MS SQL server). This VI communicates with the database with functions of the database with a DSN and SQL query appropriate palette. There are two tables with two data (time and Insolation) columns in the database.

    This VI works when you run in Labview 2010, but when I used it as VI in UI Builder it returns no data.

    Could you please help me find a solution. Is it possible to communicate with the SQL server database in this way or there is another way?

    There are two files attachmet: Image of .vix file in Interface builder and .vi file ("Mt-insolacije.vi")

    Please help me ASAP!

    Thank you

    Ivan

    I found the solution problem is in the DSN. I've been using the user instead of DSN system DSN.

    It's important to create the system DSN if you want your VI of web service to communicate with the database.

    PS Please put feature bundle format timestamp and XY graph in the web user interface designer. It's complicated to trace data with datetime on X axis without them.

  • Used for Apex on the 10 g database but lost on 11 GR 2

    Hello.
    I used the apex 3.x (a little) on 10 g (Windows XP), but we have just upgraded our computer systems and now apex 3.2? This seems to have already been installed as part of the GR 11, 2 on Windows 7 Ultimate package. The database is installed in a personal database on a stand-alone computer that I use for test and development purposes. I found the version prior to the Apex, extremely fast and useful for loading large amounts of data in the format variable worksheet (no two alike) and I would go there with this one.

    However, I am having a problem to find a way to connect to the currently installed apex. The database works properly, and I can connect to sys, System. Apex_030200 or Apex_public_user, etc., with SqlDeveloper or SqlPlus.

    An example of my old connection string is - http://localhost:7777 / pls/apex/f? p = 4550:1:4367556252120989
    so I tried to use - http://localhost:7777 / pls/apex/apex_admin

    But makes me just "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

    and http://localhost:7777 / apex - or http://localhost:7777/pls/apex - gives the same result

    I can't locate Apache on this computer so I guess that it is no longer comes with 11 GR 2 - so is there anything else I should have installed - I may have missed?

    So, can someone please point me in the right direction or at least to report a useful piece of documentation? -J' have been using E11946-01 but find is not terribly useful - until now.

    Any help you can offer will be appreciated. Thank you. I am new to GR 11, 2, as I just installed it this week so I'm a bit lost here.

  • secconf.Sql. If it will work for upgrades or only for new databases?

    Hello

    I'm reviewing oracle 11g features and found that few things need special attention, such as checking the settings and the changes in the default profile.

    Looking at the secconf.sql file, I found this note

    REM only invoked for databases of newly created, not for upgrade of databases

    My question is
    (1) if I update a database to Oracle 10 G to Oracle 11 G, will, these changes in profile by default and the audit take place or not?
    (2) these 11 G changes will happen if we create new databases using DBCA?

    Thank you
    Delphine

    If you take a peek of scripts by calling secconf.sql in 11.2 /rdbms/admin, you see that secconf.sql can be run from catuprgd.sql with the following calling sequence:

    catupgrd. SQL-> catproc.sql-> catpexec.sql-> execseq.sql-> secconf.sql

    You can retrieve it with:

     pwd
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/rdbms/admin
    [oracle@lx01 admin]$ grep secconf.sql *.sql
    execsec.sql:Rem Only run the secconf.sql script for new database creations, not
    execsec.sql:      :secconf_name := '@secconf.sql';
    secconf.sql:Rem $Header: rdbms/admin/secconf.sql /main/3 2008/10/26 23:05:27 apsrivas Exp $
    secconf.sql:Rem secconf.sql
    secconf.sql:Rem      secconf.sql - SECure CONFiguration script
    [oracle@lx01 admin]$ grep execsec.sql *.sql
    catpexec.sql:@@execsec.sql
    execsec.sql:Rem $Header: execsec.sql 12-jun-2006.13:39:34 rburns Exp $
    execsec.sql:Rem execsec.sql
    execsec.sql:Rem      execsec.sql - secure configuration settings
    [oracle@lx01 admin]$ grep catpexec.sql *.sql
    catpexec.sql:Rem $Header: catpexec.sql 06-jan-2007.20:57:33 rburns Exp $
    catpexec.sql:Rem catpexec.sql
    catpexec.sql:Rem      catpexec.sql - CATProc EXECute pl/sql blocks
    catproc.sql:@@catpexec.sql     --CATFILE -X
    execcr.sql:Rem      Run from catpexec.sql (catproc.sql)
    [oracle@lx01 admin]$ grep catproc.sql catupgrd.sql
    @@catproc.sql --CATFILE -X

    Thus, it seems that catupgrd.sql still works secconf.sql. Given that catuprgd.sql is THE upgrade script (see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10820/scripts004.htm#sthref3623), it seems that this secconf.sql is still running.

    But this is not the case if you read execsec.sql code and comments:

    Rem Only run the secconf.sql script for new database creations, not
    Rem for upgrades or any other reruns of catproc.sql. The version column
    Rem in registry$ is NULL while catproc.sql is running the first time
    Rem  on a new database.

    VARIABLE secconf_name VARCHAR2(256)
    COLUMN :secconf_name NEW_VALUE secconf_file NOPRINT

    DECLARE
       p_version  varchar2(30);
    BEGIN
       :secconf_name := '@nothing.sql';
       SELECT version INTO p_version FROM registry$
       WHERE cid='CATPROC';
       IF p_version IS NULL THEN
          :secconf_name := '@secconf.sql';
       END IF;
    END;
    /

    SELECT :secconf_name FROM DUAL;
    @&secconf_file

    In the case of database upgrade registry .version $ is not null and above the code will run nothing.sql instead of secconf.sql:

    [oracle@lx01 admin]$ cat nothing.sql
    Rem $Header: nothing.sql 18-oct-2001.09:57:38 Exp $

    It is therefore very likely that secconf.sql is not running during the 11.2 database upgrade (I think that the same should apply to 11.1).
