Why updates to uninstalled programs?

Windows Update (Vista w/SP2) continues to try to install 'Security updates for the Microsoft Office System 2007,' even though I uninstalled the trial version of Office 2007 that came on my computer. Why keep appearing these updates? If I let the updates, they install successfully, but how can they, if Office programs no longer on my computer? Why should updates of security for programs that are apparently not on my computer? The uninstall went well, and the Office is no longer in my list of programs to remove. It doesn't really uninstall?

I discovered two 2007 Office programs that were still installed on my computer: "Assistant activation for the suites, Microsoft Office 2007" and "for 2007 Office system Compatibility Pack '. I uninstalled them, and now I no longer get the Office updates. Detective Conan.

  • cannot update or uninstall iTunes because "iTunes.msi" not found - HELP Please

    November 8, 2011 - on window XP

"iTunes.msi" - not found - and therefore prevents the update AND uninstall iTunes!

iTunes.msi is setup.  Normally, it is missing because you didn't upload.

However, in the rest of the error message you forgot, the problem probably turns out to be that you have downloaded a new version of iTunes and it will not be installed because it's hard to uninstall the previous version.

It's always a good idea to post the full error message without paraphrase.  It also helps others help if you describe the circumstances surrounding the error.

Assuming that my crystal ball reveals precisely your problem, the solution is the following:

This message occurs when the registry key pointing to iTunes uninstaller is corrupted (or uninstall of iTunes has been moved or deleted).  The simplest thing to do is just clean things, and then try again.

Used to have a tool just to do this, called the Windows Installer Microsoft Cleanup utility.  Apparently, however, when this tool has been used (I think with MS Office), removes sometimes more he was supposed to, and that's why Microsoft has removed the tool of its download servers.

The Windows Installer Cleanup utility is always available from http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html , or you can use the free Revo Uninstaller.  Before using or the other of these tools, create a restore point from the system, backup the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT, or (if you can afford) creates a full disk image or a clone - just in case.

Here are the usual directions to perform a "clean installation" of iTunes, based on Support of Apple HT1926 article.

Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
    Remove these applications:
    1 Apple Software Update
    2. Apple Mobile Device Support
    3 Hello
4 iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)
    5 iTunes
    6 QuickTime

Open my computer > C: > Program Files
    Delete this files (if present)
    1 iPod
    2 iTunes
    3 QuickTime

    Empty your temp directory:
Open my computer > C: > Documents & Settings > username > Local Settings and delete the contents of the folder called "Temp".

If you don't see the local settings, enable hidden files:
Tools > Folder Options > view tab
Select Show Hidden Files & folder, and then click OK

Once this file is empty, restart the computer

[See note above regarding cleanup utility]
Download & install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the utility: start > programs > Windows Installer Clean Up
Select one of the applications mentioned above and click on remove

    Restart the computer
Download & reinstall iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • Super slow computer after uninstalling programs...

I recently had strange problems with my system. They include:

    • Before, when I left my computer for a bit, it goes into sleep mode and displays my screensaver. Now, instead of showing my screensaver, it only shows my wallpaper. Nothing else. No internet browsing software, no icons. My paper just painted. There are a few times when my screensaver appears but only about 1 in 5 times.
    • I put my computer to ask me a password when I wake. But the password dialog box is not displayed when I move the mouse. I have to enter Ctrl + Alt + Del to force the dialog box to appear. I'm positive, I put my computer so that I don't have to use Ctrl + Alt + Delete, but it does not work. And sometimes the command does not work yet. I can stay there and keep only typing for an hour and nothing would happen.
    • Programs to take a long time to start. Microsoft Word used to load in 1 or 2 minutes, but now I have to wait 5-10 minutes.
    • Web pages take a long time to load. It should take only a few seconds at most, but now it takes a few minutes for a page to load. I don't have the best Internet service but I am sure that shouldn't be that slow. 3 weeks, everything worked fine. Last week, all these problems began to occur. I changed my ISP 5 months ago and the Internet was going well so far. I tried to clear my cache, delete my history and cookies, but nothing works.
    • I use Google Chrome as my browser, and when I try to search something in the Omnibox (aka the address bar), it takes forever to load. I have to go to www.google.com and type my search in there. My default search provider is Google, but I don't understand why the site works very well but is not the address bar.
    • On Facebook, I can't comment on, such as updates, see all the comments on a post, or see my notifications. When I click the button I like or click on "View all comments" on a post, it does nothing. I click a few times more, but it does nothing. The same thing happens when I click on my Notifications at the top. Nothing happens. And when I click on the chat on the bottom bar to see who is online. No effect. Is this something to do with Java? I have the latest version of Java, Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Flash.
These problems started occurring just after that I uninstalled a few programs on my computer. They were in a few games and The Weather Channel Desktop App. If anything, uninstall programs should make my computer faster; no more slow. I have AVG antivirus installed and I've scanned my computer already and I have not all infections.
I use Windows XP and have the latest Service Pack installed (it was 4 SP...?). My computer is somewhat old (I got it in 2005). I have a HDD AMD with maximum capacity of 40 GB. 1.70 GHz Intel Celron processor and about 220 MB of RAM then that I write this. It is quite old compared to new laptops nowadays (they have 400 GB Intel hard drives with 4 GB of RAM).

I have AVG would eliminate for a while and see how things seem to be of course use their uninstaller from here:

    http://www.Avg.com/us-en/utilities

You can always reinstall AVG later if yo have to do (I don't would be not so constrained).

If you are worried about an infection, disconnect the Internet after uninstalling AVG, then see how to open your Word documents and other features with AVG off the image.

If you are worried about not having protection AV install Microsoft Security Essentials .  MSE completed with MBAM and SAS is pretty good protection and has low overhead.

If she was not so freakin ' complicated to upload a screenshot here, it would be nice to see the Manager of tasks sorted by the CPU column) descending) when the system malfunctions.

Maybe someone will post this link on how to do that - I never found and it makes me sick to even read.  I am spoiled to work in the Big Boy forums where things such as viewing the screenshots are just a click away...

    Here's one way:

To create and send/post/print capture screen or a screenshot:

Press the Print Scrn button to copy your entire screen to the Windows Clipboard.

Press Alt Print Scrn to copy the active window to the Windows Clipboard.

    Open MS Paint:

    Start, programs, accessories, paint

When the painting opens, press CTRL + V to paste the Clipboard, save the new file in paint on your desktop or somewhere that you remember.  JPG files take up less disk space than BMP files and are just as readable.

Make screen captures as much as you want.  Practice makes perfect.  Make sure that your screenshot does not contain personal information.  Practice the visualization of your images before you send them to make sure they agree.

Some sites will allow you to attach a file directly on your post, but not the MS Answers forums.  If the site has a sort of piece attachment/upload function it is usually easier just to use it.

If there is no such function in your forum to download files, then use a third-party free hosting site WWW image.

Create a free account on some free photo hosting website.  You can always delete your account later if you wish.  Here are some free image hosting sites:

    http://www.imageshack.us/
    http://Photobucket.com/
With your free account, download your screenshot (s) (JPG or BMP files) on the site and it is up to you to a URL (Direct link) for your new images that you can paste the link directly in the post message, e-mail, etc.

Send this web address link live here in your answer, and we can click on the address of the link and see your screenshot.  After as many times as you need - the sites are free.

When you are finished, the link that you post here should look like this my poor system:

  • is the flash uninstall program uninstalls all versions of Flash player?

Hi all, I noticed that when I installed a new version of Flash Player, version stays and can be seen in programs and features.

my main question is: because the available on Adobe.com Flash uninstaller uninstalls all versions of Flash, so Flash cleaning entirely from the system?

    a few side issues:

-can I use any old Flash uninstaller to uninstall my current Flash?

-Why the new auto Flash does not uninstall the old Flash during successful installation?

    It's complicated.

Flash Player is a built-in component of Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows 8 and higher and on Google Chrome.  Run the uninstall program removes these, because they are not under our control.

For the other browser plug-ins, run the uninstall program should clean them.

Updates to Flash Player replace installed Flash Player.  We ship on a monthly basis, leaving each old version installed on your machine would be pretty silly after a very short time.  Each release also includes important security fixes, if you always want to be browsing the web with the latest version of Flash Player.

Is there something specific that you are looking to accomplish?

  • cannot update or uninstall the PC iTunes

I can't update or uninstall iTunes from my PC (Windows 10).  I have version 12.4.3.1.  If I check the updates, I'm invited to download 12.5.1, but when it finishes downloading the program says there was a download error and I have to use tools/download only.  I do this, but clicking on the file downloaded Update Gets a similar generic download message (no error code), such as download a new installer for iTunes.

If I try to uninstall settings, I get the message that ' errors occurred during installation before iTunes could be configured ' and I should re-run the installation program. If I try to uninstall it from the control panel I get "Fatal error during installation" and the remains of program (and can be executed).

    Help.

I have the same problem. In addition, utility software from Apple does not update iTunes 12.5.1. Running Windows 10 build 1511.

  • When I download an update for a program it opens Internet Explorer and not Firefox

Firefox is always kept open on my PC. When I have an update of the program, I accept that but then Internet Explorer opens for me to download the update. It would normally usually Firefox. Why opens Internet Explorer and not open in Firefox as per normal?

Which depends on the program involved. Some programs will use the default browser , that the user has defined in preferences, while others will use the browser that comes with the operating system. IE in the case of Safari on Mac and Windows.

You have Firefox set as default browser in Vista?

Access to programs and default settings in Vista, IIRC.

  • Photosmart c4795: impossible to FIND MY PRINTER UNINSTALL PROGRAM

I want to uninstall and reinstall my printer, but it is not in my uninstall programs. What is HP Photo creations, HP Support Solutions Framework and HP update. It appears in my devices and printers with a yellow triangle next to her. When I installed it with the cd, something went wrong, because I do not have the Toolbox or the window that tells me how much ink is left. Troubleshooting said I don't have the complete solution software and downloaded it but it didn't work so I want to try to uninstall and reinstall, but like I said my printer is not displayed to uninstall. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I also installed Revo uninstaller and it has not posted there either.  Any help will be appreciated.

I figured out I was going to click where it says install the software and then I could click on printer. Thank you very much.

Uninstalling programs can save you some disk space (very little),
but it won't do anything for your memory.

If you are short on disk space, almost everything you do will be nothing
but a stopgap measure. You will arrive soon in the same
situation. The only real solution is to buy a larger hard drive.

  • After having recently updated windows, some programs no longer work. In addition, System Restore does not work.

After having recently updated windows, some programs no longer work.  Also, when I went to do a system restore, that he would not allow me to restore to an earlier date.  Among the programs that no longer work are VLC Media player, ieploxer, f.lux.  Even though I have uninstalled and reinstalled they would not load correctly.  I would get the splash screen for the program, but noting else.  When I am gone in Windows Task Manager the program would not appear in Applications, but there are processes running.  And an interesting thing, the exe afficheraient use of the 72K memory.  Still, even for different programs.

    What can I do?

Start the command prompt, and then type

    sfc/scannow

Do check and see what the result is.

Also run full system scan with:
