Why use Oracle Grid in the oracle database

Hi experts,

In fact in my workplace, we use normal database (use not the grid). I want to know why we use the grid in the oracle database. all that the advantage of it.

Reg,

Thomas

You might have a grid of database servers (access to the shared storage) or application servers.

You can use the Grid control to monitor and manage multiple database / application servers.

10g and 11g and 12 c facilities grid Infrastructure is installed to facilitate the DSO (is not part of the 10g GI) but a part of the 11 g and 12 c GI and Clustering.

Then, depending on the context "grid" can refer to another product.

  • Using Oracle database for thesis software

    Hello, I want to use Oracle Database Enterprise Edition and Oracle Data Mining for my master's thesis, and maybe we can publish a book of science in the end. I already downloaded the database and work on it, but I need to know if it is OK to use the software free of charge during the preparation of my thesis. Is that what I should pay or should I inform Oracle about this? I don't know anything about using Oracle products for research projects. Any information you provide will be appreciated. Thanks, Hatice

    You must purchase a license for Oracle Personal Edition, which is the set of US $92 for a year. It includes the Advanced Analytics option, which is where your data mining.

  • can I use "Oracle Database 12 c: performance management and Tuning" training for the certification "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054 '"»

    I took "Oracle Database 12 c: new performance management and Tuning" the oracle University training. Now I would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054 ' exam. Is this possible?

    I guess you ask if you can use the course 12 c as long as the condition of course for the review of 11g.  Over 12 c is not listed as one of the options for the 11 g certification and course requirements are normally specific version - at least with DBA certifications.  If you are already an Oracle OCP DBA, of course, there is no requirement of course for the review of performance tuning.  From what I know the training requirements for other certifications, I do not that you will be able to use it. However, Brandye will provide a definitive answer to whether the course 12 c would be acceptable for 11g certification.

    That said, I'm with John - 12 c review is about a community of 85 to 90% in the review of the 11g and is currently about 20% of the price while it is in beta.  What is the point of trying to cross the releases?

  • Why use Oracle Forms

    Hello forum
    IM new in oracle form and have some confusion on the use of oracle web application forms. can someone tell me pls why use forms oracle instead of many web technologies such as asp, c#, php, Jsp? as forms are heavy, and takes a long time to load then why should I use it?

    can I use oracle applications forms such as public web applications where anyone can use this application? but given this ive another confusion! all users will need to install OC4J for execution of oracle forms? If they do then its going to be a very big hassle for users.

    in fact, I want to know the basic concept of using oracle forms...

    Depends on your application needs, if you are developing Web sites, with a very weak interaction with a database, move away Oracle forms to Oracle Apex and database 10 g XE.
    If you develop an ERP application or any other that interacts strongly with the database (Oracle db) and OLTP performance, validation data and the operations processing and others, then you must use Oracle Forms.
    And as it is stated in the above post forms based on SQL and PL/SQL languages and its executables are interpreted at run time, it is not an exe file, it can be maintained more easily, you can take a form offline and the rest of your application would be quite normal.

    Some people may say forms has its limits, but with PJCs and Java Beans I couldn't find a limitation that cannot be conquered.

    Users who run an Oracle web application need not run OC4J at the same time, you must OC4J only if you will be running your form with the manufacturer of forms, or for testing purposes.
    For a production deployment, you will need an OAS Oracle applications server and users should only auto-télécharger/install JInitiator the first run of the application only after the first time it works magically.

  • Use Oracle database with LabVIEW

    I am new to Oracle database usage and I worked on the MS Access database. I want to use the Oracle database in one of our applications to store data and retrieve data using SQL instead of MS Access instructions. Please give some suggestions which less than the version that I can use? y at - it a free version that I can get? What I need deilver with software.

    Yes, there is a free version called Oracle XE which works very well. In fact, it is intended (which Oracle referred to as) OEM applications. It is free to use, and there is assistance available forums which are also free. The free version has all the features of the business, with a couple of limit: first of all, it will only access a carrot in your CPU. Second, the maximum data size is 4 GB.

    In regards the connection to it, check out this discussion.

  • A full import by using datapump will overwrite the target database data dictionary?

    Hello

    I have a 11G with 127 GB database. I did a full export using expdp as a user of the system. I'll import the created dump file (which is 33 GB) on the basis of data from 12 c target.

    When I do the full import on the 12 c database data dictionary is updated with new data. But as is it already contained data dictionary? It will also change?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    In addition to the responses of the other comrades

    To start, you need to know some basic things:

    The dictionary database tables are owned by SYS and must of these tables is created when the database is created.

    Thus, in the different versions of database Oracle there could be less or more data dictionary tables of different structure database,.

    so if this SYSTEM base tables are exported and imported between different versions of oracle, could damage the features of database

    because the tables do not correspond with the version of database.

    See the Ref:

    SYS, owner of the data dictionary

    Database Oracle SYS user is owner of all the base tables and a view of the data available to the user dictionary. No Oracle database user should never change (UPDATE, DELETE, or INSERT) ranks or schema objects contained in the SYS schema, because this activity can compromise the integrity of the data. Security administrator must keep strict control of this central account.

    Source: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/datadict.htm

    Prosecutor, the utilities for export cannot export the dictionary SYS base tables and is marked

    as a note in the documentation:

    Data Pump export Modes

    Note:

    Several patterns of system cannot be exported because they are not user patterns; they contain metadata and data managed by Oracle. Examples of system schemas that are not exported MDSYS SYS and ORDSYS.

    Source: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e22490/dp_export.htm#SUTIL826

    That's why import cannot modify/alter/drop/create dictionary database tables. If you can not export, so you can not import.

    Import just to add new Non - SYS objects/data in the database, therefore new data are added to the dictionary base tables (as new users, new tables, code pl/sql etc).

    I hope that this might answer your question.

    Kind regards

  • Why use Top Link is the best in the DB adapter?

    Hi all
    The one you suggest, why use Top Link (Build-in Insert, operation Select etc.) is the best in the DB adapter using the custom query above?

    Thank you

    Hi Michel,.

    to insert / select, it depends on what kind of user you are. TopLink allows you to browse and click on tables and have everything generated for you. If you're a DBA or show me the SQL type then you can simply type SQL directly.

    Some benefits of TopLink would be:

    -The range of SQL generated by TopLink is limited, but if you hard code SQL complex in your service you need to keep it.

    TopLink - can generate when executing the correct SQL for a database, to tell DB2 to Oracle easy.

    -L' merge operation will compare the XML of the columns on the data entry and update only what has changed. It can also make a sparse merger. If only have been 4 columns in the XML file, only 4 columns in the database will be updated.

    -For the incoming interrogation strategy (LogicalDelete, table of sequencing, etc.) is a configuration property and then at run time, several SQL statements are generated. Also leverages the SQL syntax advanced like the Oracle only for UPDATE SKIP LOCKED, he wrote everything yourself can be tedious and error-prone.

    -The main advantage of TopLink is when you go beyond the thinking on one table. If you import more than one table at the same time, TopLink will generate SQL code to select maintain several tables, set the validation and generate a hierarchical XSD. With custom SQL the corresponding XSD is always flat. That is, if you just need to insert a PGE that you could get away with custom SQL. If you need to insert a dept and EMP, I'd use TopLink.

    -C' when the intermediate abstraction of an object/array is also more logical, because you only need to import a schema relationship complex once, then generate inserts, selects, etc.

    So I hope this helps. They are each just as viable and can do something that the other cannot. Where you see an overlap I would go with your personal preference.

    Thank you

  • Why used my upgrade to the Macbook Pro to El Capitan?

    Mackbook Pro15 inches

    MAC OS X 10.6.3

    Processor Intel clocked at 2.66 GHz

    Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz

    I deleted my Mac pro and restored to factory setting, when I bought my new and transferred the files too.

    Works great just except for bad battery, but I keep it is plugged.

    Whenever I try to upgrade to the new OS (El Capitan v10.11.2) MAC it will start downloading normally, then says 'updates downloaded successfully.

    What makes the tab ' installation you must restart "so I click on restart

    He begins to shut down, but before he turned off the blue screen flickers and the picture below pop up.

    (you can see my cursor and I can move it, but nothing else happens)

    Even when I leave it just like that, luckily if I hold the power, but I can force a restart and it goes back to my MAC OS X 10.6.3 like nothing happened.

    I would like to update, but I don't understand why I can't.

    Where do you download El Capitan with 10.6.3?

  • Using copyTo to copy the Sqlite database file to the directory of the user

    I am trying to copy my database Sqlite directory of private enforcement directory of documents accessible to the user. Here is my code:

    // closing db connection
    dbConnection.close();
    // clearing the db file variable
    dbFile = null;

    // new handle on the same db file
    dbFile = File.applicationStorageDirectory.resolvePath("mydb.db");
    // copy to documents directory
    dbFile.copyTo(File.documentsDirectory);

    When I try to run the code on the device, I get:

    There is an example on the Adobe AIR help page:

    original var = air. File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath ("AIR Test/test.txt");

    newFile var = air. File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath ("AIR Test/copy.txt");

    original.copyTo (newFile, true); true means crushes!

    Therefore, specify the new file name too not only the directory.

  • Why use sequences - especially in the scopes?

    I understand the end of a sequence on indicates a sequential flow of activities and I understand how they allow to collapse out of code and track while you try to view an important process. However, I don't see otherwise the goal to put sequences inside buildings such as an OnMessage, scope, case and so on. It's purely for organizational reasoning or sequences affect the process by other means?

    Thanks for any idea.

    Jon-Eric

    Exaclty, but if you want to use parallel streams, then sequence will help you stream run in parallel.

  • PDF files in the Oracle database

    First all the Hi and thanks to all the gurus of this forum to provide non-stop services to solve problems at the global level.

    I'm using Oracle Database 11 g - R1 with Oracle Application Express 4.1.

    My clients (end-users) can visit to download PDFs in the database via a built-in Oracle Application Express application.

    All of a sudden ".dmp" size increased rapidly from 360 MB to 2.7 GB and everything that happened due to downloading of PDF files.

    I want to know it's alarming for the Oracle database? Because I'm in doubt, users have a lot of files to download, Services of Oracle database that will / Performance will be disturbed by the increase in the size of the database or Oracle database server could be crushed?

    Please confirm. Thanks in advance.

    Looks: Mohammed Uzair Awan

    Performance may be affected.
    Backup time would increase.
    Backup space (disk / tape) would increase the requirements.

    There should not be a 'crash' of the database
    As you run 11 GR 1 material, I assume that you do not run the Express edition.
