  My apologies, I must have misread the topics when I did my first answer. For some reason, I got it in my head, whether you use Windows 7 32 bit.

  I stand by my original comments well that although I appreciated now that you are referring to Windows XP.

  If you want to go to 64-bit Windows XP I'm not sure if this is even possible now. Unless you buy a commercial version second hand. If you can, make sure that it comes with an installation CD.

  All that I could find for now is the following. I'll try to get WMP to give me the new option.

If you get a menu when you plug it in, having options that wants to know if you want to allow yourself music, or delete it and make room for new files, make sure you click on the music of leave on my device option. You must be sure of automatic synchronization is disabled and that WMp is not deleting you music so you can add others.
