Why WMP is no longer listening to music on my Blu - ray player?

I have a HP laptop (dv6t-1100) under Windows 7 Home Premium. I connected to a home network via a wireless router with a Blu - ray drive compatible DLNA from Sony (BDP-S790). I think I have all the implemented network and streaming settings correct, but I am unable to play my music collection on the player (play - to option work). There is a record here for WMP photos and videos that I can access very well, but the music we're more here. Since getting the player, WMP music folder appeared only intermittently and seems now is no longer at all. Sony said the problem is not with the DLNA, like I can see photos and videos, so it must be the server (WMP). My instinct tells me that it has something to do with indexing. Help, please.

SOLVED! I found the problem when I used the 'play-to' option to push my WMA music on my Blu - ray player, and he began to play in mp3 format. Of course, I checked the manual and it states clearly that the WMA files are supported, but then in small print, he says that they will not play on a DLNA server. What they mean by "sustained" so I can't imagine. I talked to four tech at Sony, and they said that WMA was correct. Of course, these same idiots told me I couldn't stream local media without an internet connection. Amazing! Now I just have to find a good audio converter to convert my WMA to MP3s and online. After almost two months of hassling with this problem, I think I finally found the solution. I thought that you and your employees can know for future use. Thanks for your help.

  • Why my blu - ray player can't access the contents of third party internet?

I've owned my reader blu - ray Sony BDP-S580 for about a year and a half and have had no problems with it. A few days ago I noticed that it would link is no longer to third parties including Netflix, Youtube, and Amazon Instant Video internet content. I connected wireless and thought I just needed to recycle my router and the modem (I have a modem from Time Warner Cable and a Linksys Wireless G router). I tried several times, but it made no difference. Whenever I try to start, Netflix, Pandora, Youtube, etc it is unable to connect to each time. I noticed that the player can always connect to Gracenote. I can access Web sites using the integrated in the web browser. I can also stream videos to my PC blu - ray player using the Windows Media Player server. It's just the video and music internet services that do not work.

In recent days I've done everything I can think of to fix it, but nothing worked. I tried the modem and the router of recycling at least 20 times. I tried to use the wired facility rather by connecting the drive blu - ray directly to my router by an ethernet cable. I have the router configured so that it's not requre the use of Wi - fi protected setup, but I even tried to set the blu - ray player using WPA configuration just in case. I changed the IP address on my router. I reset all the settings of the blu - ray player to factory default settings. I also tried to do a power reset the player. I tried to use "personal information Initialize' who have

erases all personal data (including all content of third of the unit). None of the above worked.

I also want to mention that none of my other wireless devices have problems connecting to the internet. In addition, the blu - ray player is about a foot away from my router for the intensity of the signal is not a problem. My router is configured to allow up to 50 devices to connect to it and there are currently only 7 devices that use the connection Wireless (including my roommate). My internet connection speed is 54 Mbit/s, so I don't think speed is the question. The blu - ray player said that the RANDOM connection and internet access are correct. The blu - ray player network connection diagnostic tool says that network connections are correct. My firmware is updated and the player is registered with Aurélien Live Essentials.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem.  Player has worked wonderfully for the moment I got it almost a year.  He began to do last night.  Rebound, the speed of the network, reset the player to the factory and let it sit unplugged for 15 minutes.  It connects to the network and access to claims that it has internet and connection LINK, but the status of connection to the server provisionsing failed.  Streaming from other LAN devices work, the Web browser works, none of the work of third party services.

Where are you located, and who is your ISP?  I'm in Central Virginia on Shentel.  Nothing has changed from hardware wise. The modem is Motorola Surfboard SB6141.  It's a modem ONLY... no router functionality.

If you have a router that supports addressing IP reserved for DHCP clients, you
might want to try it to make sure that your devices you always get the
same IP address. Some routers also allow you to set the duration of the lease '' never. ''

  • Why can't play movies blu - ray if a blu - ray player driver?

I just get a laptop with blu - ray driver, but I can't play a blu - ray movie

Windows 7 does not natively read Blu - Ray discs of movies/TV - support you need to use the 3rd party software/codecs. Your PC manufacturer may have delivered a program on your PC, like PowerDVD from Cyberlink, so check. If this isn't the case, you need to buy or download something like the free VLC media player.

    This can also help:

  • Why windows 7 does not recognize my blu - ray player

I upgraded fron vista to windows 7 and now when I put a blu - ray disc

    1 it will not play

2 it does not recognize the drive

If it's a movie/TV Blu - Ray disc, then Windows 7 will not play it unless you install 3rd party software/codecs. These can be either purchased or there are those who are free available.

Check any software initially provided with your PC of any media player grouped as those of Cyberlink or Arcsoft.

  • I bought a Sony BDP - S185 connect Netflix Blu - ray player. I can't connect to the wireless router. Why?

I just bought the blu - ray BDP S-185 drive so that I can access the internet (netflixetc.) on my new samsung tv. I tried to connect to my wireless router, but repeat me my connection type iswired and the connection has failed. Can I connect this player to a wireless router or should it be connected to the router? Difficult because the router is in the basement and the television on the third floor. Can I use the separator on phonejack (existing in the 3rd and.) and connect the two phone and blu ray player or do I need a netgear typedevice to connect this player? Thank you in anvance understand help. Sorry, it's so rambled butI am very confused here!

    Hi Robert,.

Welcome to the community of Sony!

This Blu - ray player is the BIV (Internet Video base) base model and does not support the wireless Internet connection. I suggest that you use the Ethernet LAN cable to connect the player to your router/modem.

    Thank you for your message.

  • How long does take to burn a blu - ray 3 hours in yet?

I have prepared my video in CS5 PP, marked chapters sent Encore CS5 dynamic link, added a menu with buttons related to chapters and checked build. Everything looks ok, except for a problem in the version I read should not affect the result. The problem is that it takes for always to transcode and burn. What I am doing wrong?

3 hours will be very loooooooooooong.

I'd do the transcoding in first,

put the pictures in the still.

iso and burn with Imgburn or something simular.

Might need a 50 gigs disc.

3 hours is too expensive for a drive of 25 GB of IMO or divide the movie on 2 discs.

    Thank you for the question!

It is disheartening to know that have problems you with Windows Media Player. As I understand it, you are not able to remove Windows Media Player music files.

I need to ask you some questions to help you best.

    1. do you get an error message when you try to delete the music files?

    2. were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

This problem occurs if the Windows Media Player library database is corrupted. Try these steps and check the result.

Method 1: Clear the Windows Media Player database
has. click on Start > type run > click run > Type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Playerand then click OK.
    b. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    c. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Method 2: If the problem persists, delete the Windows Media Player database cache files

    a. click on Start > type run > click Run > type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft , and then click OK.
    b. Select the folder Media Playerand then click on Delete on the file menu.

  • Listen to music from iPhone for cinema house Blu-ray (BDV-N790W

Is there a way to stream music from an iphone (without being connected to the docking station) for the blu - ray player? I like to play music in itunes on my iphone via the wireless from my phone home theater system. I downloaded the app, but I do not see a feature that will have access to the music on the iphone.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.

If you have downloaded media: connect, then the iPod should see the report devices(BDV-N790W) that are on the network since the iPod is the DLNA server. Make sure that the iPod and BDV-N790W are connected to the home network. Check to see if the DLNA server is shown in the Player configuration options by going to SETTINGS > NETWORK SETTINGS > SERVER CONNECTION SETTINGS. Also, check that the converter is able to show as available on servers DLNA by going to SETTINGS > NETWORK SETTINGS > RENDERING and CONTROL of ACCESS RENDERER OPTIONS. If you can not always connect to the player, then check the firewall of the router settings. If you don't know how to configure the firewall on the router, then contact the manufacturer of the router for further assistance.

  • upgrade to windows 8 and blue-ray no longer works

I have a HP elite hpe 570f clubhouse and I have upgraded to windows 8 and the blue-ray player no longer works.

Do you mean that the optical drive is no longer at all, or simply that he does not play Blu - ray discs? Windows 8 does not include any software that can play BD movies. Check whether the player can play a music CD, and if it is possible, you can probably just download the third-party BD playback software to play BD movies.
