My Blu ray player no longer recognizes DVD or Blu Rays, still plays CDs

I have a HP Envy 17, everything worked fine until I started to want to rip DVD for my my player and convert it to MP4 for my tablet.

Installed DVD decrypter, who then tried to define regions of DVD and c... Has started the stalled DVD ripper to half way through now, the reader does not recognize Blu Ray and DVD, CD is not yet well.

Have removed DVD decrypter and re installed device drivers and did a system restore but still not fixed

Any tips?

  • Windows Media Player no longer recognizes the music in my library

I have a lot of music in my library and several training material files.  As of the last month, the music will not play.  I click on it, and she travels about 6 songs, puts a red x next to each and answers media cannot be played.  training materials actually play fine.   Used to play music, and I don't quite know what I changed, although there was a day where Microsoft updated a lot of things and my computer has been updated for probably 45 minutes.  This seems to be on the time where this has happened, even if it could be a coincidence.  WMP is passed to a new version that does not recognize the old hardware?  Thank you

This happens usually when you move or rename the files.

To get media player to play yet MP point to them.

MP open, click file on the menu, click Open and navigate to the file.

Click on the file or Playlist, click Open.

If you click on a playlist to re-record it to the new location.

Click file, click, save now playing list as, click, save and overwrite the file.

  • Windows media player won't recognize DVD

My media player can read and play a CD from the CD but when I insert a DVD, nothing happens. Furthermore, I recently installed a software AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 to burn DVDs and would like to know if this new software is the cause of the problem. When I insert a DVD, the AnyDVD does not analyse it and Windows Media Player will not play it (or he acknowledges in the DVD player). And when I try to clone using CloneDVD2, the dialog box says "unable to read video files" and "the device is not ready." I had reviewed the literature on the decoders and drivers, but it ' s all Greek to me. • Windows media player won't recognize dvd playback or record

My Media Player will not play it plays the cd and burn cd dvd if I try windows Director, acknowledges that the dvd drive is there but it will not record or play videos

The reader has already worked? If it used to work OK but suddenly failed, then there's a chance (the DVD part of) the drive has failed. You could try a CD/DVD cleaner lens to see if that helps.

It may be interesting to try this fixit MS - http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/ and run the built-in utility to see if they find and fix anything.

I guess that its listed as 'work' and showing no problem in the device (on the Panel) Manager?, but its worth checking.

It may also be useful to check on the support site for the PC see if there are updates made support for the PC and player. These can sometimes help.

  • DVD not recognize DVD burner

I am running Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2 .8GHz with XP Service Pack 3 & Sapphire Radeon 9250 graphics card.
For a long time, my DVD R/RW Pioneer burner stopped recognizing blank DVDs, but he can still play DVD & CD and still burn CDs.
I tried to replace the DVD writer with another, (Samsung burner DVD) but the problem still remains.
There seems to be a lot of forums with this problem but no real solution.  Would appreciate any advise.
    Thank you.
    The

    How I solved the problem:

As I had installed Nero, I went to their website (nero.com) and downloaded their "removal tool" - called "Nero CleanTool.»  According to the version of Nero, it's a CleanTool for each version or a Nero General CleanTool for older versions.  We'll find their CleanTool under Support--> Support Tool--> tools & utilities.

Using their CleanTool, I removed completely Nero, noting the registration number before running the CleanTool program.  After you have successfully removed Nero and re-booting, I have re-installed Nero.

As a result, DVD burner now recognizes blank DVDs and I can successfully burn the DVD.

I'm inclined to believe that completely remove and reinstall Nero writes in the registry files and replace the missing registry or damaged which prevents the burner to recognize and burn DVD.

    Hello

The package to install is only an update / patch.
This package requires the installed Blu - ray TOSHIBA disk drive software.
TOSHIBA Blu - ray disc player software is installed on your system?

The exe file is to be found in:
    TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Blu - ray Disc Player\SMIPlayer.exe

If its not available or if the version does not match, the installation of the patch fails.

  • I have Windows 7 I can't get one say Blu Ray to play with HP MediaSmart DVD.

I have a Pavilion DV7, but I don't have any idea of other number that you want.  I can't find another number from anywhere.  The problem is with the HP MediaSmart DVD player.  It will not play a Blu Ray disc.  It will load then wants to do an upgrade.  However it won't do it.  I have open the setting and try to update manually.  It shows not anyupdates.  How can I get Blu Ray to play once AGAIN.  I have Windows 7 Pro.  The version of the MediaSmart drive is 4.2.2.5122

    Hello

As you use HP MediaSmart DVD to play Blu ray discs, I would suggest trying the following.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution.  Download the latest installer for it on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp56501-57000/sp56904.exe

Once the download is complete, open windows control panel, open programs and features, make a right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - when this process is complete, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, open your downloads folder and double-click Setup for PowerDVD 10 start the installation.  Once this done, see if your Blu ray disks will now play OK.
