  There usually no need to do a defrag, as long as you keep a decent amount of free space on the disk (the boot volume).  The system works defragmentation for smaller size in the background files and large files fragmented usually has no performance impact.  The most important is the free spacefragmentation; performance can suffer if any of your remaining free space is in small fragments scattered on your storage media.  This happens more severely if the amount of free space on your startup disk starts to become really low, and you continue to use your system in this way.

  If you're like me and do not want anything to do with the Windows updates... you may encounter the same problem. Summer/don't I am not at all interested in Windows 10 (who they are sneaking into regular updates) so I don't usually have enabled updates.
