  • Windows Installer error: Windows Installer could not be accessed

    I just Crysis and I try to install it, but when I try the Windows Installer appears and stays there for half an hour then says that Windows Installer could not be accessed. Help, please. (64-bit version of Windows Vista)

    Well, I found the solution for this:

    • Log your computer as an administrator.
    • Click Start and then click Run. (or alternatively, you can press windows + r on your keyboard)
    • In the Open box, type cmd and then click OK.
    • At the command prompt, typemsiexec.exe /unregister, and then press ENTER.
    • Type msiexec/regserver, and then press ENTER.

    It fixed for me.

  • When I try to install my software, I get an error message that "Windows Installer could not be accessed".

    Issue of Windows install

    I just bought a HP Photosmart printer and I am trying to install the software on my computer. (OS is Windows Vista.) When I try to install my software, I get an error message that "Windows Installer could not be accessed". I ran "msconfig" and found that the Modual from Windows Installer status is stopped. How should I proceed?

    Thank you, Jeanne Vecere

    You could try to go to the MICROSOFT website, go to KNOWLAGE database and in the search bar, try the search for WINDOWS INSTALLER. Look for any version that is newer than the one you have. If this fails, try searching on GOOGLE. You can also try to do an update to WINDOWS VISTA.

    IF YOU ARE RUNNING 64-BIT WINDOWS, MAKE SURE YOU PRINTER WORKS WITH 64-BIT.

    Hello
    1. are you able to install other programs?

    This problem may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
    1. the Windows Installer files that are on your drive hard are missing or are damaged.
    2. you install or remove a program that uses the package file to install software for the Microsoft install (MSI) Windows (.msi).

    To resolve this problem, use the following methods.
    Method 1: Reregister Windows install.
    1. Click Start, type cmd, right-click on cmd, and then click Run as administrator.
    2. at the command prompt type msiexec /unreg and then press ENTER.
    3. at the prompt, type msiexec/regserver, and then press ENTER.

    Method 2: Disable the .NET Framework 3.0 before installing .NET Framework 2.0
    Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is the default version built into Windows Vista. We recommend that you first cross check if it is enabled in the Windows features turn on or off. To do this, try the following steps.
    1. click on start, type optionalfeatures and press to enter.
    2. in the verification of the list if .NET Framework 3.0 is enabled or disabled. If it is enabled, disable it and restart the computer.
    3. install .NET Framework 2.0 and check the result.

    Method 3: Install the latest .NET Framework.
    1. visit the following Web site and download the latest version and install it.
    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=120486

    For more information, see this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942288

    NOTE: Don't forget to follow method 2 to activate the .NET Framework.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards

    1.1 Start Menu-> all programs-> Accessories
    1.2 right-click on command prompt and select run as administrator of

    2. If you are using the 32-bit version of Windows:

    Type cd %windir%\syswow64 in the command prompt and press ENTER.

    When I tried this, I got a message that this had been done but I tried to install the programs and even once, they both failed and I got the same error as before.

    Can anyone help?

    Well... It has been a week. I know too much now.

    ATTENTION: This field is very complicated AND there are too many incorrect analyses out there.

    The problem for me is (FOCUSED) that the current user HK had entires THAT SHOULDN'T BE!

    The computer settings are found under the Local Machine of HK. HKLM must be correct.

    Procedure: REMOVE all entries in HKCU. Correct path the InprocServer32 value.

    My specific (2738) error occurred trying to find "vbscript.dll" (aka "\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8"})

    Some antivirus software redirects requests for certain things by herself (aka 'diversion'). If the

    InprocServer32 is EMPTY (in HKCU - for me). All of the solution has been to remove the HKCU entries.

    Another little attention is: (for example) vbscript.dll has several references (app, authorization, RegExp)

    so be on the lookout for the 2 and 3, as well.

    \{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}

    \{B54F3742-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}

    \{B54F3743-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}

    I removed the entries in HKCU. Run the error code again. (Mine = .msi)

    This information is redundant. Gokul T response (upstairs) was correct. It does not sink into my head when I read it. But this thread was open the door to the solution for me.

    Thank you...

  • Error 2738 could not access VBScript Runtime for custom during the installation of a turbostick action.

    I am trying to install a turbo stick on my acer aspire - and getting a 2738 error could not access VBScript Runtime for custom action. I am running windows 7 and acer and Bell - my provider have not been able to help.

    Kevin

    Hey Kevin,

    Thank you for the update.

    1. Run as administrator command prompt:

      1. Menu start-> all programs-> Accessories
      2. Right-click on command prompt and select run as administrator
    2. Type the following command at the prompt: reg delete "HKCU\SOFTWARE \Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}" /f, then press on enter.
    3. Then, you must also type the following command: c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and then press ENTER.

    Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
