  I have a model of portable pavilion G62-233NR windows 7 64-bit, with a built-in webcam.  YouC'm software was bundled with it and worked.  Now the webcam is not found by one of the video programs AE Skype, Youcam... etc...

  I also noticed that the webcam does not appear in Device Manager. I tell me that I have to reinstall a driver for it but do not know what driver to install. HP has the following availble drivers for my model but which?  If one of the pilots was labeled "webcam", the task would be easy.   You have a third party Virus Scan running on the computer?  Sometimes it can get in the way of communication between iTunes and the phone, especially after an update to iTunes.  Try disabling the antivirus scan and see if the phone appears in iTunes.

  I'm looking for more assistance with a recently purchased A500 - 17 X running on Windows 7 64 bit. The Webcam worked when buying, but has suddenly stopped working. Web camera software is up-to-date with the latest download from the Toshiba site, but returns the message at the launch:

  "Web Camera initialization failed" Please, you check the camera device & restart the application or computer.

  I checked the Device Manager under Imaging for webcam devices & is not listed (it's my own laptop; I also have a Toshiba laptop provided by employer & when the webcam is listed on that one, so I presume that it must appear in the same place!

  Does anyone have any suggestions? Would it be a bad connection to the webcam itself, i.e. a warranty issue, or is there a software solution to check if the webcam is actually present? I scan for new hardware & nothing new is detected.

  In my opinion, you should try to reinstall the driver for the webcam. Remove preinstalled software, restart your computer and reinstall the latest version available.

  Best test you can do is to reinstall the recovery image. with factory cam settings should work fine again.

  Three things that you have not yet mentioned are

  Reformat to FAT32 was probably not necessary (and you'll probably want to re - format to NTFS before use).  XP has no problem with large (> 500 GB) external USB drives.
