Win Vista update problems - help on 31/05/13.

I downloaded Win Vista updates, when installing updates, that seemed to be getting picked up in 15 of the 27 update.  If it stalls, should I try to download updates from windows updates again?  Now, the internet explore is dead and when I reconnected it in the internet it restarted the update where it left off.    Please let me know what I can do to get my updates again smoothly?

Hi ARMinnesota,

1. what happens when you open Internet Explorer?

2 when running windows update, you get an error message or error code?

Refer to the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if that helps.

When my computer tries to finally start up, it comes to a screen that says Windows Update section 3 of 3, 0% complete.  He is sitting here for a minute or two, then restarts.  This loop continues indefinitely.  Will not start in safe mode.  Used a boot disk to get into the Windows repair and got the result, did not find any problem.  How to cross this attempt to update?  I have Vista.

When you used the "Startup disk" was available as an option system restore? If so, then choose a restore point created before this issue started occurring.

If the system restore is not available, then you have 2 options:

    (1) try a "in-place upgrade", aka, repair installation. This can be done by running the system with the "Startup disk" and choose command prompt - How to perform a repair for Vista Installation

However, if Service Packs have been installed then you should uninstall everything first.

You will need to know where the Service Pack .exe file is to be able to uninstall the command prompt, because the system does not start properly, or Mode without failure.

  • 80070005 Vista update problems

Hello. I have problems with the Vista updates. When I install the updates, he says that they are installed properly and I need to reboot to complete the installation. However, after a restart, the screen indicates that it configures step 3 and then hangs for a while before saying that the updates are not configured properly and it is up to the previous settings.

When I check the update log, the error code is 80070005 for updates failed. I checked the forums and tried a number of things that have not solved the problem.

I am logged in as an administrator.

    I have SP2.

    I have Vista Business edition.

I use McAffee security center, but have tried to disable the firewall that does not work.

I ran the tool "fixit" mentioned in some other posts.

I also run the subinacl tool and created the "reset.cmd" Notepad doc The only thing to note is that when I made all changes seems to fail.

Not sure if this is important, but I also have security software of the report of the Natwest Bank in line installed.

I don't have other security products installed trial versions.

Can anyone suggest how to solve this problem, as whenever I stop I have to run through the process of trying to update and go back again. More updates are referred to as 'important', so I guess that I need them!

    Thank you

Hello. All the steps performed here, but not luck... However, problem solved--looks like it's software report of Natwest, the origin of the problems! Thanks for your help.

  • connection after the vista update problems

After that windows vista updates, restarts and configures, I can't seem to login screen. I type the correct password, but the screen only flashes for a second and watch the blue progress ring, but then comes back to the right of the login screen. I have to restart and run system restore just to connect, this happened last week with the same update and is quite a nuisance. Updates include:
    (important)
    Update for Windows Vista (KB971029)

Windows malicious software removal tool - March 2011 (KB890830)

    (optional)
Updated the Realtek for Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller driver

-Input - Synaptics Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad

    Windows Live Essentials 2011 (KB2434419)

    Hi Raziel,

First of all, we will do two important things:

    1. DON'T download or install updates from Windows Update for Realtek and Synaptics (or any other device drivers).  Instesd of get them through Windows Update, go to the computer or Web sites of the device manufucaturer to get the latest update and install instead.  Hide these two Windows updates so they don't mind again.  Unless expressly stated by the manufuacturer for updates from the Windows Update driver, always bring manufacturers instead.  They are the cause of many problems of update.

    2. in prior to starting the updates (and for each 3 other updates and driver updates), create a System Restore Point.  Of allows to install the other three updates one at a time and manually instead of through Windows Update.  Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx and look for the KB number and download the update appropriate for your version of Vista and install it, and restart and make sure that all is well before you more on the following.  If we have the same problem, use the restore system back out of it and post back here with the specific update that won't install manually as well as any error information, you can find the problem.  If we can reduce it to one, we will have a better chance of coming up with a solution.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • X 64 Vista update problems... KB2479628 & KB2393802

Hi, I had / have problems with Vista updates:

I can not install more than one at once otherwise that it crashes a BSOD. It's annoying, but I can live with that...

The latest issue (I wonder about that) which is the last batch of updates (I'm sure it's one of these two: KB2479628 & KB2393802) is making my PC run unstable and stop my antivirus to work.

When either are installed, my pc freezes at startup and can or cannot enter Vista (safe mode still works). When he gets into Vista, MSE shows a symbol of error indicating that it is not functional / turned on. When I try to turn it on, I get a gel complete system requiring a hard reboot.

OK, I realized I remember little about it... so I'll reinstall tomorrow and I hope to give more details later

  • win vista update

I use win vista 32 bit, and for awhile, it can not be updated, just take time and nothing, why this happen and how do I fix this?

There is a likely reason missing there. "The update Client cannot manage, KB3168965, KB3164033, KB3145739, KB3109094 and KB3078601.

Manually install those missing them. Start with KB3168965. The value of the automatic updates to 'never check updates' and restart Windows before installing.

  • Satellite P100-442 - sound after Vista update problem

    Vista Home Premium operating system.

Since "Vista Update" installed a pilot of its new "Conexant high definition SmartAudio HD2", the sound does not work.
It does that after I do a "ch for devices modified" via "Device Manager".
But I do whenever I have start the laptop.
Should I first remove this driver (and how?) and to install the driver on the Toshiba site?

Try to restore to an earlier time using System Restore option.

If everything works again DO NOT install updates for ALL pilot rating. Just install update marked as important. All others (optional) update SHOULD NOT be installed at all.

  • Vista update problem; Please help me.

OK, so I'll try to be descriptive, so I can receive assistance.

So I recently installed Vista on my new PC that I built (first time vista user). It runs, decently, I suppose. Well, I am informed of updates so I DL them. I noticed that this button appears in my Start menu.

    http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/5559/33609570.jpg

It's the red dark with the shield on this subject. I click it and it takes me to this page where it says it is treating 46 ittems 1 or something. Once it finish with this process, it takes me to another, who says he is running step 2 of 3, but once it get - their configured say TI's fault the update and returns the process. I tried a few times and it does not seem to come out of this process. Why the habit they install correctly? Any help is welcome.

    Thank you very much!

Yes, it could be a problem, because it was impossible to perform the reset of the authorization.

So, option 1, try again the reset of the authorization:

1 did you download and install subinacl.msi from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en#AffinityDownloads, note that the destination for the installation folder must be C:\Windows\System32?
    2. to check the success of subinacl.msi installation, try open in administrator mode command prompt, you should see C:\Windows\System32 > (but not C:\Users\>), and then type subinacl /?  to make sure that the subincal.exe is deployed successfully.
I hope that you would see "'subinacl' is not recognized blah blah blah...". ', this means that the subincal.exe either has not put in the right place, or it is corrupted. Should probably try to reinstall using subincal.msi. And re-run the batch in administrator mode, as you did.
But in the worst case, if you see a menu of help for the subinacl, hm... Then there is no logical sense why you couldn't be able to run the command in administrator mode file. And it's probably best to try option 2.
Option 2, there is another post on the same topic, by k Deepak Gupta, described the causes for the error code 80070005 and solution step by step.
  • Vista update problem

    Salvation responses/Microsoft technical support.

I may have the same question - I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit and have never had a problem with since the launch in 2007.

Execution of Windows updates last night my PC will not boot Windows, it goes beyond the BIOS, but then when the "Loading Windows" little status bar appears after 2-3 seconds, he made a break then it 'blue screens' very quickly that I can't read what whether it was and then going to restart my PC.

It does and now reboot - loop continuously, so I can't get Vista started. I inserted my Windows Vista DVD to start and I can "Repair Windows" - this can get my going again (which is what I did twice now & nhow I typing this).

But these same 9 new Windows updates are causing the problem on & on new - please help me fix this.

Updates of Windows (which came out yesterday, 02/10/2010) that cause this problem for me are:

A security update cumulative for the stop bits ActiveX for Windows Vista (KB978262)
Update security for Windows Vista (KB971468)
Update security for Windows Vista (KB974145)

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - February 2010 (KB890830)
Update for the junk e-mail in Outlook 2007 (KB977719) filter

Please tell us a solution, because I want to keep my PC & Windows up-to-date and at the present time, I too scared to run Windows updates (I disabled the auto updates) because its causing Windows to not start & continuously restart the PC.

First of all, you should check that your system is not infected with any type of virus\malware.  This thread has some good information on the programs and use if you don't currently have one. Get rid of malware  If you do not have an anti-virus, you have and is up to date?
You must install the updates one at a time and restart after each one to determine what is a problem.  Once you have determined the update that has a problem, post with this information.  Also let us know which service pack level that you are running.
Make sure all your equipment is updated with drivers.    Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • Windows Vista update problem

I'm running on Windows vista SP1. (I know there is a SP2, but can't get it)

If I try to update via windows update I get an error: Code 80240016. If I try manually when I get to the posting form, I can not get this page to load, I get another error. Also I can't get updates from Toshiba. I have a great internet connection, update is the only thing that does not work. I recently lost the ability to play music from itunes, but the player still works, so I know this isn't a sound problem. I've had the computer for a little over a year now and it started about a month ago and so far windows customer service isn't being helpful. I tried a number of patches online, but none work, can anyone help me? What could be to keep me update Windows and Toshiba? Also, I tried disabling all firewall that I know I have, and that doesn't always.
