Window XP service pack won't complete installation

My computer did an automatic update during the night and got stuck there, so I turned it off, when I restarted I got was the initial start-up and Windows XP is still trying to load the program.  When I went to the F2 option, I did a defaul restore and the computer flashes a blue screen for about 2 seconds and then go back to the Windows loading screen. How can I fix?

Closing manually a computer, though sometimes necessary, is never recommended. This is especially true when Windows updates are installed and/or configured after installation.

Follow the instructions below. If you don't have a disk of Windows Xp download the Recovery Console Windows Xp from HERE.  Then, follow the instructions HERE to burn the iso file to the Recovery Console Windows Xp you just download (although the article deals with the Windows 7 repair disc, the burn process is identical).

1. Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer. If you are prompted to press any key to boot from a cd do;

2. when the "Welcome" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console;

3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot, select the installation that you must Access from the Recovery Console.

4. When you are prompted, type the administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER;

5. at the command prompt, type chkdsk/r > press ENTER. (Note: there is a space between the slash and the letter k). Let the scan until the end. It may take some time to complete.

Post back after you complete these steps.

  • Unable to update the Code of error - Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) -: 80070017

original title: could not update - Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330)

Impossible to update - Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330)

    Installation status: failure.

    Error details: Code 80070017

    Hello

Please follow the steps mentioned below to help resolve the problem with the installation of the service pack.

    Method 1

Start your computer in a clean boot

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Make sure that you follow step 7 of the article mentioned above to set the Normal upward Start computer after troubleshooting is completed.

Try to install the service pack.

    Method 2

Run a System File Checker tool

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 3

Reset the contents of Catroot2 folder / rename the software distribution folder

    Step 1

Reset the contents of the Catroot2 folder

    a. type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

    ·         net stop cryptsvc

    ·         MD %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old

    ·         xcopy %systemroot%\system32\catroot2.old /s %systemroot%\system32\catroot2

    b. remove all content of the catroot2 folder, but do not delete the catroot2 folder.

    c. type the following command and press ENTER:

    net start cryptsvc

    d. close the window command prompt

    Step 2

    Rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

    a. open a window prompt administration commands.

    b. run the following commands and press ENTER after each command:

    ·         Net stop wuauserv

    ·         CD %SystemRoot%\System32

    ·         Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    ·         Net start wuauserv

    Try to install updates again.

Important When you use this method, the following problems occur:

    ·  Updates that are currently downloaded but which have not yet been installed must be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    ·  When you remove the Software Distribution folder, your download history is deleted.

    ·  If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and Windows Update, you will need to reselect this option from the Windows Update Web site.

Note If the problem is resolved and you can successfully download and install the updates, you can safely remove the SoftwareDistribution.old folder to recover disk space.

Restart the computer and verify if you are able to install the Service pack.

    Method 3

You can also run as the automated fix this program to reset the Windows Update components.

  • Error code: C000009A (problems applied update registry during the installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1)

After installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, the system restarts, and before windows comes up the registry is updated.  I get an error C000009A 128115 of 387921 enforcement update (/ registry)... error that prevents the system to reboot.  Is it possible to get the system to reboot and complete the installation of the service pack.  The only way that I was able to work around this error is to restore from the system restore point before the service pack, but I want to apply the SP1 if possible.  ????

Windows update and SP1 gave me the same problem and I used this hole day to RESOLVE.

Windows 7 is not bootable. Safe mode Windows 7 was not bootable, - stop at classpnp.sys.  I used the line of command of the rescue disk and Linux (!) to fix it.  And then little important reading / advice on this forum.

    Error message at startup:

C000009A application update 262832 (registry\ma 109544 operation error   (no more room on screen)

After a few reboots failed, I tried a restore of windows rescue disk, but windows update has somehow erased all my restore point! (Argh)

Then I looked in the log file c:\windows\winsxs\poqexec.log and found a reference to the error: (obs this folder has some 70,000 + files)

Then I tried to add this key in the registry using regedit command line after booting from the rescue floppy.  But repeated boots showed this register does not have / save my extra key. (Strange-I should be able to change the shape of the hot spare register, or?)

Next step was to start a live CD of Linux (Mandriva) to browse the windows system drive.

This way, I found the c:\windows\winsxs\pending.xml (99 MB) file and may open in kwrite (Linux).  I'm looking for "atibility.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_pt - pt. I installed Service Pack 3 on my Windows XP Home Edition and once the computer restarted I had a black and white screen saying that there is a power failure or something else and I could either start my computer in safe mode, normal, or the last known configuration.  Well, the only way that I even get to the login screen is choosing safe mode. The other choices keep simply by restarting the computer and I to return to the black and white screen.  What can I do?

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you should reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
