checking file system on C: the type of the file system is NTFS. Volume label is ACER. One of the drives should be checked for consistency, you can cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue. WINDOWS will now check the disk.

Cannot open volume for direct access. AutoCheck cannot run because of an error caused by a package installed recently. Use the system restore feature in the control panel to restore to a point before the installation of the new software package.

An unspecified error has occurred (766f6c756d652e63 3f1)

I uninstalled programs a bit, but still the message appeared, so I put them on and then I loaded a disk backup dated March 2, 2010 and the message still appears I hope someone can help.

This may be a physical problem with your hard drive. You can test yourself or use diagnoses of the Acer if available on your computer.

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do this, as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio, if you're not burn the image on Win7. Win7 can burn .isos natively. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it. Or if the computer is still under warranty, contact Acer technical support for repair or replacement.

  • Error code 766f6c756d652e63 3f1 running CHKDSK

Since a month ago, CHKDSK will attempt to execute itself every time the computer starts. Then, after about one second it cancels out without doing anything.

The computer works fine, but it's boring, so I ran CHKDSK on mine and the error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1 came. In addition, argues the f parameter is not specified and now even won't work. I am running Windows 7 64 bit on an HP Pavilion dm4 notebook. I do not have a disc or Windows 7 because Windows 7 came with the computer.

I also run a memory test and all came back normal.

Anyone else facing this problem, press ESC during startup, and then look for a Startup Repair option. Let him do his thing and it will correct the problem.

  • An unspecified error has occurred (766f6c756d652e63 3f1) on the computer.

Nobody has solved this error message?

    Hello Mitch,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.

Please answer the questions below that will provide me with more information on the issue.

    1. You are able to start the computer in normal mode?
    2. You have a third-party Antivirus /Security software installed on the computer?
    3. Have you tried the steps of troubleshooting so far?

In case you receive error code "an unspecified error has occurred (3f1 766f6c756d652e63)", this error occurs generally if you have any third-party software that blocks check disk. " This causes the disk check to fail in normal mode.

Many people have solved this error by running the command to check the disk in Mode safe. To start the computer using safe mode, try the steps in the link below.

Start your computer in safe mode

Once you start the computer in Mode safe, try the steps below to run the disk check.

    • Click Start
    • Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
      Click on "Run as Administrator"
    • At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

    Important:

Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

  • Toshiba Satellite S50 - A - is dead HARD drive?

Hello.. I hope I can get some answers from other owners of S50 - A or least maybe a tech?... are these discs defective or only supposed to last two years so you get out of your wallet again so Toshiba infiltrates the money from you?

My father bought this laptop for me for the College and school so I can work and play at the same time it's about 2 years old...

    Model of care &: S50 - A Satellite, model # PSKKEC - 00G 007 - Intel i5 - Geforce GTX A 740 m - to-SATA 1.

2 years... Since purchasing computers laptops are pretty perfect, I have done regular upward Dungeon defragments hard-ware/anti virus scans and every quarter I ran across a sweep of care system advanced... everything was fine.

The only games I play quite a lot on this laptop is counter-strike Global Offensive by H1Z1... a week ago, I was on teamspeak and it said that I had a driver error and tells me to restart, I did... and that's where it went all down hill...

I had a lot of mistakes, lack of funds etc., tried to do a reset from the pc, is not called zero also tried to try a restore of the system without success... hard disk started vibrating and making a 'written' sound (as the disc has been actively writing incredibly fast..) it was so distorted, I couldn't save any recent stuff... (last back up I did was about 3-4 months before)... no all my photos & academic materials are uploaded to servers online, so I was Biggie don't like meh, whatever... I listen to music on spotify so care to lose all that.

My only option was to format the disk and do a clean install... what worked for one week... was able to update all my drivers download/install geforce experience and my anti virus program, log in to my school credentials and downloaded steam... everything was going a lot and yesterday after a session of one hour of h1z1 I quit the game and when I tried to open my browser google chrome that nothing answered, the button start to reset would not answer the computer literally just does not react anymore than all...

Forced a restart and got bsod - unmountable_boot_volume - entered the command... prompt he says pretty well sound replacing each bad cluster known to man... nothing was fixed/repaired... do you have a chkdsk c:/r/f and got this - an unspecified error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1

I am ready to throw in the towel on this... I guess that Toshiba gives a 1 year warranty on all hardware related Articles?... so there is no point in calling me to and ship unless I want to pay an arm and one leg for another 1 TB sata-one that will only last another 2 years?... or should I go to some place local tech and get them to install a crucial 2.5 "500 GB SSD?

People of any options?... I am open for them.

    Thanks for reading,

    See you soon.

    HARD drive seems defective.
SSD is a good choice, but avoid those that use a starforce controller, since they have more problems than others.
The Intel and Samsung SSD seem to be the most compatible.

    Hello Mitcherator777,

You can connect to your computer in normal mode or only in safe mode?

It would be the best way to run the Chkdsk command:

1 disable any security software before you attempt to upgrade or do a clean install.
    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)
    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.
    4. check your hard disk for errors:
    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r
When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    Marilyn,

This problem has been resolved, I contacted Microsoft directly on the phone in the time of September.
Question has proved to be a dirty disc. as my 1 year limited manufacturer expired warranty, I have since last week bought a new HDD to solve this problem.
    Please examine this issue.
    Thank you.
  • Cloning of my hard disk always fail

Lately my computer showed signs that animate my C contains errors. The check disk at the beginning of the startup of the said only this:

Use the system restore feature in the control panel to restore the system to a point prior to the installation of the new software package.
An unspecified error has occurred (766f6c756d652e63 3f1)

Just before that, however, a prompt will ask me to choose "Windows 7" or "Windows 7 Ultimate (recovered)". ". Choose "Windows 7"will not do anything and don't say that \Windows\system32\winload.exe is missing and the status is 0 x 0000001.

This could mean only that my old hard drive is corrupted, right? I tried to use different cloning programs (for example, Macrium, Clonezilla, Seagate, etc.) and each of them has failed. I don't know if I should go with cloning or imaging, but what I need is a method to get everything thing from my old to my new drive.

Is there a way to fix this because my computer is unbearably slow until it takes 15 minutes for Word load up.

The startup disk does not solve the problem at all.

    No, you haven't.

You test your old hard drive before doing anything:

Go to the website of your computer manufacturer > search your computer specifications > know brand of hard drive > access the Hard Drive manufacturer's Web site > find and download hard drive Diagnostic software and make a record of start of it on the computer that you use to get here, following their instructions > test your hard drive to see if it has failed.

And you can also use this method to test your hard drive:

    Hi @Dawid531!

This ID failure usually indicates that your HARD drive has failed and needs to be replaced or there is a problem with the SATA controller on the card. There is a great topic on how to resolve this error, so if you want you can take a look:

  • Pavilion g7: disc error hard disk 1 (3F1) pavilion g7

I have a hard drive error, and he says to run the system diagnostics hard drive test. The area code is disc 1 (3F1)

It seems that the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If this is not the case, a laptop SATA hard detail can be used. Just be sure to get a quality at least equal the original in order to use recovery disks. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

  • Envy 15-j011dx: hard drive crash (3f1)

Initially, the cell will have the recovery Partition and that would give you an option to create a recovery disk set. If you have not created these recovery discs when the laptop was in working condition we can do right now

From now if you need to recover your laptop through the new operating system, you can check if the recovery Partition

is a condition in a work, or not, if yes you can easily recover/restore your laptop

If the recovery Partition is corrupted

You need to call HP Support and demand for a set of recovery disks, then you can recover/restore your laptop at the earliest

    OR

You need to call Microsoft and buy an operating system with the license key, so that you can recover/restore your laptop at the earliest

  • What does that mean? Hard drive error. Hard drive 1 3F1?

The product name is hp pavilion dv4-6000

    Error message-

A failure in the hard drive test indicates a physical problem with the hard drive. In other words, that it should probably be replaced. It is relatively in line with impatience, so you should be able to do it yourself. What is the exact model of the laptop number? I'll find detailed instructions for you.

In case you do not want to replace the drive yourself, or if you feel that you can still be in warranty, I suggest to contact the HP Support for your region. If you are in the United States / Canada you can contact to the 1-800-474-6836. If you live outside this area, you will need to go to HP's Site's Support.

In addition, you will need the recovery disc to restore the original operating system.  If you have any earlier, you can contact HP to get them.
