  Okay, so I got Windows Update problems now for at least two months. I have worked with Microsoft technical support by e-mail and phone, but so far have had no luck, so I was hoping someone here might have an answer or an idea.

  My computer has started giving 8E5E03FA error Code whenever I try to install windows updates. It would also sit at a standstill for always "checking for updates... "when I start updating windows.   Dear Brigitte, it was one of those anomalies that solve themselves.  After trying several times, I found the pad of numbers worked so I replugged it it after that I received the error message.  Second time around, it works fine.  JC

  This is a complete scam.  You can report it to your local police.

  For your own protection, you should:
  • Change your passwords on email accounts, accounts financial and sensitive to which accounts you access online from this PC.  RIGHT NOW!
  • Run a full scan of your PC using your antivirus application...    Also download and run a full scan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free edition).  MBAM is a very good solution in addition to your primary backup antivirus/antimalware application.
  • I would also go here: https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Shared/Help.aspx and follow the advice of "I think that my PC is infected", including potentially calls MS help.
