  • WIndows Vista not finding free Wifi connections

I am running Windows Vista on an Inspiron 1420.  I used to connect to open wifi connections and now windows won't recognize that my connection at home I put in place manually.  I can see the other connections wifi with my computer, but windows will not recognize them.  This function is used to work and now it won't.  Any help would be great?

    KristinTX,

I've been on the Forum and it seems that there are many people who have problems with the WiFi Catcher on an Inspiron 1420. You can see their support Forum.
    http://en.community.Dell.com/forums/default.aspx?GroupID=9

However, there are a few things you can check.
    (1) did you use Dell QuickSet to enable and configure the switch to control WiFi network connections?

This seems to be one of the conditions for their WiFiCatcher to work.
    (2) have you used the BIOS (System Setup program) to control WiFi network connections?
    (3) you have the BIOS update for your Inspiron 1420 system? The latest version is A10 with a date of 01/07/2009.
    (4) I recommend that you check all the driver updates especially for networking to see if this will help your question.

I do not know if these suggestions will help, but it's something you can try.

  • Pavillion DV6 with newly installed Windows 7 keeps giving up wifi connection

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion DV6z-1100 with an Atheros wireless adapter.  It was running Vista 64 and I have just updated, do not replace one update, Windows 7 64.  The WiFi was working until I installed the new operating system, but now the connection keeps dropping.  The system connects to my router, but after about a minute.  It will be then plug back in and let it go without ever stay connected for more than a minute or two.

However, it is not the connection between my laptop and my router is down.  My laptop says that the connection between my router and the internet is a failure, even if I have four other devices connected at this time that has not experienced any problems.  I checked that the drivers were later and tried connecting with the firewall disabled.  I have not updated the bios.

    Any idea on next steps?

    Thank you.

    Hello:

Is this the driver you have installed?

  • Dell XPS Ultrabook 12 has network using WIFI connection problem after upgrade to Windows 10

I have a Dell laptop XPS Ultrabook 12 that worked fine on Windows 8.1. When Microsoft prompted me to sign up for upgrade to Windows 10, I hesitated, but finally, I signed up for it. In recent months, I have been asked several times upgraded to Windows 10 but I just ignored and delay the update as much as possible, because I need to work with the laptop and I can't afford to have problems after the upgrade.  To my horror, Microsoft forced an install of Windows 10 this morning without allowing me to delay and just after the upgrade, I can't connect to my existing network. I have therefore no access to the internet and I am currently typing this complaint using another PC. I noticed that the laptop can connect to the network automatically when I walk my router but the connection will last only a few minutes, and then he'd cut off. I tried to connect and the message I get is "unable to connect to this network. I checked with "ipconfig/all", wifi said media disconnected. I checked with the Dell support website and downloaded and installed a newer driver, but the problem persisted. Apparently the surf on the internet, this problem is faced with a number and any suggestions to fix do not work (after that I tried).

    Help, please.

You should be able to go back to 8.1 for Windows by following the instructions here:

  • Omen of HP 15: Wifi stop working. Win10 shows only a single network and it connects to the WiFi

    Hi guys,.
Since a few days my wifi stopped working.
If I click the Wifi icon it shows only a SINGLE NETWORK (two maximum), but not mine!

And I live in a building of 20 + networks, as you can see on the WiFi Analyzer (I'm the only red to the right)

If I reactive / disable Wifi with fn + f12, it goes back in plane and Wifi mode mode and sees it eventually all networks:

My Wifi is on top. If it is registered, Windows connects to it and then she abandons the connection; If it is not registered, and I try to connect, it says "you are not able to connect to this network.
Is fun is that after a few seconds, each network disappears and alone is shown (probably the one next door... I don't know).

I already tried to RESET the laptop MATERIAL by keeping the power button for 10-15 seconds with the laptop is turned off.
I tried to follow these instructions (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04649175) updated drivers (Intel 18.12.0.3, 18.12.1.2, 18.30.0.9 [10 default Windows], 18.32.0 [last drivers]) without success. Whenever I have install a new driver, I uninstalled the earlier software Wireless + restart.

I tried to uncheked "allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" on my settings of Wifi hardware without success.

HP network support said that I did not choose a Wifi (really? The problem is that I do not see my Wifi on the list!).

This is unrelated to a new 10 Windows upgrade since I installed it months ago and this is the first time I have this problem :/ It has always worked

    I tried different settings too:
I changed the channel, I put 802.11 g on my router, APSD off on the router.
I put "Magic off packet, QoS ad hoc off, U-APSD off, fat wide channel, differential flow mode HT off" on the creation of the map without success. Nothing chaned.

The hardware test detects any failure.

Important note: If I close the router, it shows my network connection with full power and he connects to it. Then I come back in my room (probably 3/4 meters away), it MAINTAINS the connection for 30 / 40 min and he drops the connection and I cannot reconnect to it more. It has always worked perfectly in my room during these months (I bought it in March 2015), so the distance is not a problem, I'm 6 / 7 m away from the router.
In this case, it shows my network (connected) and the nearby... and the other 20 networks +?

The only way I have is USB tethering with my Nexus 5.

Linux: I tried the WiFi on Freya elementary (Ubuntu linux OS base) and it displays 20 + networks available on the list. He has not the connection problem with my Wifi, but sometimes it stops working, Web pages stop loading and I have to restart Wifi to reconnect to the it (usually after 30/40 min of use it).

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the problem? My Wifi card is broken? Should I call Italian support or if you have any suggestions?

    WAWood,
    I took a risk.
I did a factory restore with recovery HP (I have a drive dedicated for her)... and it worked!
I had to switch from Win8.1 to 10, but the Wifi problem is solved!

I'm still guessing that was the problem...

Now, I'm under Intel drivers 18.30.0.9 worm and all the networks work.

In the next few days I'm checking the linux problem (reset deleted primary partition).

  • wifi connectivity limited after that windows 8.1 update on Z580

I'm on my phone that I type this because I don't have internet access on my ideapad (again)
I updated my drivers Lenovo has kindly put on their download site for (downloaded via my smartphone) 8.1 Windows Update but I still have the same problem. I've scoured the web for solutions, I made cmd, uninstall the drivers in safe mode... nothing works!

Does anyone else have this problem? Would really appreciate a solution if you have

    Thank you

    Jacob

I fixed mine! What a relief.

I have Lenovo G580, who has the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter.

At the point where I had problems (do not already know) Windows has been configured to use the Microsoft driver for this device.

Following the advice to look at older drivers, I have found a Broadcom provided on my computer and updated driver to use. Immediately, a WiFi connected, and all seems well.

    Here are the instructions:

    # Open the Device Manager (search Windows help if you don't know what it is)

    # Select "Network adapters", and open (double-click) Broadcom 802.11n network adapter

Pilot # go to the tab and click the update driver... button

    # Select 'Browse my computer for driver software ".

    # Select 'Let Me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

    # Select the entry "Broadcom 802.11n network adapter (Broadcom)" from the list and click Next

    Well, it worked for me.

    Good luck, Matt

  • Blurred printing 276dw wifi connection to Windows 8.1 update 1

I have a 276dw connected to a large LAN home network with wifi.

The individual workstations are connected to the wireless router, ethernet cable, portable computers connect to wifi. All of the machines in question are running Windows 8.1.

The 276dw is perfectly visible on the network and connects very well. However, when I print from Windows (for example, the word 2013) prints out truncated, often missingthe last few pages of a multi-puage document.

At one point, I found some instructions that allowed me to remove the printer as it has been installed by means of the own HP and Windows IP settings installation software manually. This enabled the SCART to PRINT correctly; However, I wasn't able to use the HP software to access the scanner. UH... not so great?

So I just ran the installation again, thinkiong the problems would have probably gone now--only they don't have. And, unfortunately, I can't find the hack I used to get the machine before!

Can someone tell me what the devil is going on? Running an HP printer can ' ^ t be hard!

If your router's Ethernet cable connected to the printer, then you should be using the normal installation of the cable network of the installer option.  You use the wireless installation option only when you connect directly to the car radio wireless network printing and without the assistance of the network home.  Ignore wireless for now.

If you are able to get the installation to complete, but it breaks later, then your printer may lose the network connection with your PC.  A quick and easy way to improve something as it is to assign the printer a static IP on your home network address.  A static IP address is one that never changes and is outside of the normal DHCP pool of addresses automatic IP supported by your router.  This way you can avoid your router by automatically assigning an IP address different than your computer has previously been referancing.

Try to assinging a static IP address and see if it improves the situation.  We can dig through the logs from there if necessary.

  • Windows 7, wireless network connection nightmare!

I have windows 7 on a hp pavilion laptop computer g6, with bt home hub 3... I keep losing internet connection, I get a yellow dot on the signal wi - fi, then windows icon, run network diagnostics, which resets my network card... What is happening constantly... is someone can you please help me sort this out?

My wife has this problem, make sure you have the latest driver for the network card.  Check that the issue only occur on a portable "known good" to rule out any problems with the wireless access Point and notify HP for a replacement of parts under warranty if the problem of network adapter.

Problem of not seeing list drop-down connection to the wireless network when checking connections network - pc windows 7.

I just installed a Belkin modem-router - which went well. Can I connect WiFi gadgets etc. I can also connect to the internet via a network cable to my pc. I also installed a belkin usb wireless adapter and in Device Manager, says it is enabled and works.

My problem is, I have no way of choice get a WiFi PC to display in the list (from the notification area) and cannot get the pc to give me options to create a wi - fi connection. The more I get to try to do that is "unexpected error"!

If someone could help on this - I would be very grateful

Good news - update of my ongoing saga with this Belkin modem/router.

Got the pc to see wi - fi now. It turned out to be the Zone Alarm! As the router has a firewall, I uninstalled Zone Alarm completely. Also, I went into the properties of belkin usb and checked it was the most recent drivers, it does not so I installed them.

    So far so good

  • Windows 7 recognizes a wireless network; trying to connect but can not

My laptop with Windows 7 detect my home wifi network. I typed in the access code and my computer attempted to connect with him, but it still fails. I ran the store and followed all the steps, he gave me. I unplugged unit, waited 10 seconds, plugged it back in, and represented the resolution of problems, and it came with the message "Windows cannot solve your problem of wireless connectivity."

How can I fix it? If necessary, I can provide more information in the troubleshooting report.

  • Troubleshooting-new HP with Windows 7 spectrum XT, does not connect to the WiFi at home?

So I just got my brand new HP ENVY spectrum XT Ultrabook with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. 64 bit. I start it, everything works fine, except that when I connect to my WiFi at home. I tried to connect, entered my password, but it does not connect. Also tried the easy connection on the router. No luck. I checked my old laptop which runs on Windows Vista to see if WiFi worked always, and this is where it gets interesting. I was able to browse the internet and internet worked, but suddenly Windows informed me that "another computer uses the same IP address" and it stops my internet capabilities on my old laptop. I connected my cable ethernet on both computers, and it works for both computers when it is plugged. While that plugged, I discovered that I could create my own IP address, which I did on my old laptop and so far that seems to have solved the problem. However, my DESIRE is always not connecting to WiFi. Any advice?

    Hi ZachRhodes3,

    ·         You get the error message?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software .

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

Step 2: If the problem does not persist in safe mode with networking, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow step 7 the link to start the computer to a Normal startupmode.
