Windows 10 warnings

I contacted the support when I first received the Microsoft upgrade prompt to Windows 10. I had reservations about the installation of this because I saw a post where he says that my package of care should be invalidated with the upgrade. Because I paid for this service, I don't want to lose him.

Even more concerning was a warning of a HP technician that this could be a facility that could cause me problems because I need a better than average tech to do this skill.  I posted this on Microsoft Community and no one had an answer to that which makes me believe that I should not install it but just wait until I need to buy a new computer. However, it is some time on the road that I have two computers with Windows 8.1.  They run together very well.  Here is what tells me the HP technician.

When I asked HP about installing Windows 10, the answer I received led me to think that it's not something I should try on my own because my technical skills do not understand some of the problems mentioned HP technology. I have a computer technology do this installation?  Here's what she told me.

Dear Sue M,

Hewlett-Packard is pleased to provide the following documents by e-mail.

How to install the Windows technical preview 10 now
Before installing

There are a few caveats that you need to know before doing anything:
· Back up your data first! Not that you had any excuse anyway, but don't forget to make a backup of your data before upgrade you if you have anything, you cannot recover. Or even if you don't have. Just make a backup.
· You will not be able to use your recovery to downgrade partition. If you have a recovery partition on your system, it will no longer be able to restore your computer to the version of Windows you had before.
· You will need an external recovery media to cancel the upgrade. As you know since you don't have a recovery partition, you will need a disk or a USB stick with Windows 8 (or more) on it to go back to the way things were if you don't like or can't use Windows 10.

As Microsoft mentions several times, this is the pre-release version of the software and is supposed to be very buggy and probably prone to crash. In addition, they can collect a lot of data - including the text that you type or the types of files that you open - to improve the product. It is not recommended that you install on your work machine or whatever it is you need daily or sensitive on consumption. We'll show you how to install it on a spare PC, or - if you do not - in VirtualBox. If you are not sure if you want to install, our video presentation can give you a glimpse into what it looks and feels.

You had this question

Me too

sbodea43 said on September 3, 2015

Seems that those with experience of tech answer to this question I posted about potential problems if I try to install Windows 10 without technical support. I think maybe it is not a good idea for me to try this and will have to wait until I can afford to bring in a computer repair place or wait until I can afford to buy a new computer about 2 years from now!  Since no one answered this, it leads me to believe there are problems with this facility by train.

M Sue Baldwin-o ' DEA

In fact, unless your device of particular model has been tested by HP to run with Win10, THAT NO one knows how it will work, or even IF it will work.  The evaluator in Microsoft compatibility win 10 certainly doesn't know what there are a dozens of people who have received the compatibility report 100% of this tool to have their PC trashed by the upgrade.

The the more safe thing to do is to do a complete backup image of your PC to an external drive using a tool like Macrium Reflect:

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
(1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
(2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup on an external drive
(3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full functional system of externally by car in a few minutes only.

However, if you feel confident in doing so, I understand.

I drove my laptop back to Win7, because a complete work of Win7 is better than a bad Win10 work.

Hello, recently updated my computer with some components (1 months ago). And now, my Windows 7 gives me "error/warning" that it is wrong, I have had for 1 year before I upgraded my computer and I never had warnings. (the windows 7 provided with the computer, I bought Acer)

  • HP Scanjet 4300C compatibility with Windows 7

I did an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 and my scanner HP Scanjet 4300C seems to be properly installed in Windows 7, but nothing happens when I try to scan.

In the Panel, the Scanner seems to work, but when I try to add a scanning profile I get the error "unable to initioalize the selected scanner. The test of the scanner button is also disabled and the scanner does not appear in 'My computer' as a scanning device.

I think there may be an updated driver to resolve this problem? The scanner was working fine under Windows XP.

    Hope you can help me.

    TNX

Thanks to this post, I figured out how to get the scanner software and the driver installed and working on Windows 7 32 bit.

    Here are the directions:

    1. If your scanner is connected to your computer (USB) uninstall by using Device Manager, do not forget to check the box that says "remove driver." And unplug the USB when it is uninstalled.  When I did this had never installed the software previously in my Windows 7 operating system.

    2. download the sj657 Installer packed HP. http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/generic...=reg_R1002_USEN
Unzip it into a folder.  If you double-click on the downloaded file, it will attempt to open the file of configuration automatically and you will get a message saying that the software only works on Windows 98, etc.  Just cancel and go to the folder (default location is C:sj657) and proceed to the next step.

    3. Select the "setup" application and right-click on it to get properties, replace the XP compatibility (I have service pack 2). Then run the TI and click 'OK' on all Windows 7 warnings.

    4. go in the folder Hewlett-Packard now in your directory Program Files, there will be a folder "HP Precisionscan". It will be the only unless you have to other HP products. Open the Precisionscan LTX folder and change all the apps XP compatibility.  I have also verified that the administrator checkbox on each app (there are several) just in case.

    5 restart your computer.

6 plug in your scanner via USB and let in install.  Windows 7 should give you a notice that your C 4300 has been installed successfully.

The scanner now works using the LTX software installed on your computer. The buttons on the front do not seem to work, or can do you something with it by going to 'scanners and cameras' in your control panel. BUT in the case otherwise, it seems to work great and all the features are there in the LTX software.

My old C 4300 (I bought this probably nearly a decade) is somehow better than a newer scanner that I bought last year.

  • Please help with errors in Flash and create JS Toolkit.

I'm trying to make a menu in the Toolbox CreateJS so I can put in my site as text replacement for no flash, iOS devices in particular.  I get an unstable overview of error messages and the menu I do not completely understand.

"Chassis numbers in EaselJS start at 0 instead of 1. For example, this STOP button and gotoAndPlay calls. (20) ' I use image tags to avoid this exact situation, this error doesn't affect the output to HTML5 or is it a warning error message that I can't ignore.

"Feature not supported: TLF text." Use classic text. (2) I deleted all of the text in this project, breaks out the text in the line art, which has removed all but 2 on this error message.  Is there a way I can find the two that I have left.  I went through all, and yet I can't find the keyframe with these two text entries.

Other error messages have developed but I donot have a number next to the message so I'm assuming that the output window displays all errors and those with numbers next to them is those who count in this project.  If this isn't the case, please let me know.

I post the FLA file, but this forum does not allow more than anything.  Here is the full error message that I get from the output window:

    WARNINGS:

Supported text is limited. It is generally recommended to include the text as HTML (see DOMElement) elements.

Feature not supported: TLF text. Use classic text. (2)

    Feature not supported: masks.

In EaselJS frame numbers start at 0 instead of 1. For example, this STOP button and gotoAndPlay calls. (20)

Buttons are published as MovieClip symbols without interactivity.

Entry and static text fields are published in the form of dynamic text fields.

The result of this is chaotic and useless, if I can't make it work I need to arrive at a different solution.

  • How to you turn off the warnings on pages window

How disable you the warning of substituted fonts, etc. during the opening or reopening of a Pages document? I'm tired of seeing it almost everytime I open the Pages. The last straw for me was the appearance of "warning: there is no warnings. If not, where can I find and install common missing fonts when you work on .docx documents imported into Pages (like Calibri)?

There is no way to prevent the Committee of cautions, only the possibility to hide after she appeared via the view menu: hide warnings.

Pages will not invent the fonts or font styles if they are not installed. MS Word will invent false appearances bold and italics, and when the actual fonts are not installed on OS X, you will get this warning sign.

Microsoft Office fonts (Calibri, Cambria, etc.) are allowed by Microsoft through Office 2016 for Mac or Office for Mac 2011 facilities. They are not freely downloadable on the web, as some would say. If someone downloads and uses a Windows font only or download a free Internet police - and use it in a Word document that is not provided by Microsoft or Apple, then you will get an another warning sign. It is a real PITA without police discipline and foresight on the exchange of paper.

  • Warnings from Windows 8 Action Center that McAfee and the Defender is not activated after Windows update.

In December 2012 after installation of the updates of Microsoft Windows on my machine Windows 8 and rebooting, my icon downtown Action system gave 3 warning messages:

The spyware, antivirus and Firewall wasn't turned on do not.

When I was in the center of the Action, he said time Windows Defender and McAfee have been disabled.

I ran Mcafee checks as well as the defender and it states that my machine is virus-free.

I clicked on Mcafee and it said all were lit.

I called Mcafee technical support and they did something in December 2012 and has solved the problem and none of the messages is new. They do not just turn off messages in December 2012, they did something, but wouldn't discuss what has been done with me.

However, today, Jan 8/13, another set of Windows updates have been installed by Microsoft and yet once again, the WARNING messages 3 came.

I called McAfee support again and said that I didn't call each month when I install the updates of Windows to solve the problem and that there is a bug with Windows 8 and McAfee.

I looked at the tech of McAfee as he did helpline (I work in technical support as well) and what he did this time was to turn off Action Center messages, thinking that I DINA realize that it was not really solved the problem.

I told him, I understand that it seems that McAfee is not working properly, but I will not renew my McAfee Dell subscription this March/13 because that doesn't solve anything... it's just disable the warning messages. (I showed her that if I turn on the message, the warnings were still there... apparently he was shocked that I knew what I was doing).

He said that McAfee is a problem with Windows 8 and McAfee and are working on a fix.

The tech told me to get in touch with Dell and they would provide a fix.

This problem does not occur with my Alienware Windows 7 pc and installation of Windows 8 I received is on my other pc from Dell.

Is someone can you please tell me if there is a fix for this?

I will not renew my McAfee subscription if it comes to the type of service that will be provided; I'll go with another antivirus program.

I receive a number of warning and an error message in the event viewer in the field of applications on a laptop running Windows 7.  Is there a way to fix this or fix another way?

Here are some notes on the event viewer reports that can help you. When you have a lot of mistakes, you need to focus on system errors and warnings, even if it's the applications that are giving you grief. Problems with the first sorting system can do the easier application problems. Note the time that the computer is started last and deal first with those at the beginning of the boot. Correct previous errors can be solved later.

    1. normally, when an error occurs on your computer looking in Event Viewer should be your starting point to find a solution. More related system errors are recorded and get an exact copy of the relevant report is important. Unfortunately, is not easy to understand reports and most of the users computer need help with their interpretation. I have to say later interpretation.

2 Event Viewer includes four major newspapers in Windows. These are application, security and system with Applications and Service logs as a source more details... For purposes of troubleshooting system is by far the most important.

    3. to access the system log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window select Windows and the system logs. Place the cursor on the system, right click and select filter current log. Check the front of the error and click OK and see you only reports errors. Click the Date and time column header to sort. You may need to click a second time to see the last report above.

    4. a tip for posting copies of error reports! Run Event Viewer and double-click the error you want to copy. Click the button copy on the general tab allows you to place a copy in the Clipboard and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste it into the body of the message. Make sure that it is the first dough right out of the event viewer.

    5. He cautioned against three types of reports, information, and reports errors. In most situations, it is the error reports that offer the best information but sometimes WARNING reports provide useful clues.

    6. all reports have stamps date and hour and when troubleshooting, it is important to focus on the latest reports. Reports of studies from the point when the computer is started, and then check if a similar report appeared in the previous session. If errors do not repeat investigation as to why they happen is wasted effort.

    7. in the individual reports the most important information is the event ID and Source such as these help when looking for help on the internet. The description is just as important and copy the exact text to use as search criteria greatly helps achieve better results when using Google. Not paraphrase descriptions when other people asking for help.

    8. for Vista and Windows 7 Google is the best source of information. Search for selected text in the Description part of the report (not of the particular words of phrases) that "this exact word or phrase" Gets the best results. Focus on Social Technet and Microsoft Answers reports in the last 12 months. Look elsewhere if a response is difficult to find.

  • M40X: Warnings in newspapers in Windows XP

Whenever I have stop my new M40X (I have to stop because the night before does not work as advertised), Windows is slowing down for 5-10 seconds very high CPU usage (to judge by the speed of the fan for laptop) and then it goes to actually closing and the power turned off. The next time I log on XP and check the system logs, I see that the Application log shows a new warning issued at the time of the previous stop. The warning says:
"Windows has saved the user registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the registry of the user has not been released. ..."

This has happened with the installation of the factory of WinXP Home on this computer, it goes with my current WinXP Pro. It didn't happen with the older Toshiba laptop that I used before running the same WinXP Pro.

What caused this delay at the stop and the warning message? How to fix this M40X?

    Thank you.
