  (I) check if Windows update-related services are set to automatic and started.

  Check the above services below:
  (a) Background Intelligent Transfer Service

  (c) Windows Update
  
  (II) rename the Catroot2 folder
  To rename the Catroot2 folder, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, type cmd in the search box and right-click on cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
  2. at the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each line:
  net stop cryptsvc
  Ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 oldcatroot2
  net start cryptsvc

  Thanks for your post.  If please make your way through the troubleshooting steps below and let us know the results of each utility so that we can better help you get this issue resolved.

  1. download / install and run the tool update system - CheckSur.  You can download the tool from the link below.

  Download the tool update system (64-bit)

  2. click Start type cmd (you should see the command prompt fill up) right click and select run as administrator

  Inside the command prompt, type sfc/scannow

  For more information regarding the file system checker.

  * If corruption is found, see How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

  3. once the SFC is finished, check your hard drive for errors.

  4 restart the system update readiness tool. If errors have been eliminated, try to reinstall Service Pack 1. If this is not the case, go to step 5.

  5. perform a Startup Repair, when starting, try to install the Service Pack.

  I have Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 on HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC 64 - bit operating system. For about a month, it stopped updating. Whenever I want to update it gives me the same message "Windows could not search for new updates. Error encountered, Code 80070426 ".

  After the possible solutions for others, which posted a similar problem, I typed "service" on start search and on the side slsvc, it gives a description. When I click Start the service, it gives me the message "error 2: the system cannot find the file specified."

  Recently installed the version of SQL Management Studio 2005 Advanced Express Services (who have already installed the baseic version) on Win 7 x 64. In the next update of Win gave me Visual Studio 2005 SP1 to the version of Business intelligence that settle.   You may want to reset the Windows Update components and try the update again.  Also if you have not yet done, download the update and save it on your dektop and then run it from there.

  I constantly tried to use the "NET USE" syntax to get a Windows XP Home system to keep & share mapped network drive on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit of the system and nothing I tried or worked on ANY blog. I can map the current network through made normal drive right click on 'My computer' and then provide a designation of drive letter with the correct path and have had great success using the function "connect using a different user name." However, even with the box checked to re-connect to the opening of the service is WORTHLESS! I made a lot of attempts to use the Net use syntax to create a batch file to overcome this non-functional raw application. I would really appreciate someone who actually had this issue resolved and work.   I have my Microsoft Windows Mail related to my TalkTalk email address, and this has worked well for years. There always was a case of just clicking in the start menu E-mail - login has been automatic. Until a few days ago...

  Now, when I click to open Windows Mail, I get a box of security Windows popping up, asking me to "connecting to mail.talktalk.net". I get my user name and password as requested (and which I've confirmed are correct) and login box reappears just - emptied - asking me to repeat the process.

  When I cancel the logon box, I get the error: "account: 'mail.talktalk.net', server: 'mail.talktalk.net', Protocol: POP3, server response: '-ERR user name is required ', Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800CCC91.

  When I continue my Windows Mail, I find that I can send emails, but have not received anything since the beginning of this problem.
