Windows 7 and Windows Vista

I'm trying to understand the differences in security of Windows 7 and Windows Vista. I am also generally try to understand how Windows 7 is Vista. If anyone has any information they can give me, I would appreicate it.

At a deep level, Windows 7 is almost identical to Windows Vista, but with minor tuning and adjustments.  You can see how they are in the version numbers:

Windows Vista is 6.0 internally

Windows 7 is 6.1 internally (just a tiny 0.1 updated)

As an example of the update minor: both use UAC, but Windows 7 student autonomous tasks the most initiated by UI so you don't have to confirm as often.

This forum is for home consumers, to talk further about the security, you can visit our forums for it professionals to http://forums.technet.microsoft.com.

  • Why have I not 2 15.0.0 and 15.0.1 Firefox versions in my Control Panel Window Vista x 86?

I noticed that I have 2 different versions of Firefox 15.0.0 and 15.0.1 in my control panel in Windows Vista. Before doing anything, I need to know why I have Firefox 2 in my system and how it happened. It is safe for me uninstall older versions? If so, how? I am a beginner, not expert in computer science.

    Thank you
    Sue

I have now changed my original message.

There is no need to take action in such cases. The installation process went wrong, and it's a known issue. You will not have two installed copies. The problem is that the registry entries are misleading because of a bug.

The installation process is changed to correct this problem and prevent it from happening in the future.

I took the liberty of this post as a marking. (I will add information to related positions later, it's my lunch break, if no one else does everything first)

  • 5200 801 and Windows Vista

I do not know how to test Windows Vista, let alone on a 5200-801 satellite, but I have some problems with the Toshiba Utilities. Including non of them work.

The current problems, none of the function buttons work (IE monitor, shortened brightness wireless keyboard, display hotkey etc.)

The buttons on the front panel for control of the media are not functional.

The console does not allow the setting of the system (IE front backlight always on etc.) properties

The SFP does not work as the Toshiba Synaptics driver is not compatible and later synaptics drivers will not work with the application of YPP.

and most of the importantley, the suite of power management does not work and when you try to manually open you get a stateing error 'access to this program is restricted by group policy.

Now admitted that she, most of them are minor problems, the only one I want to be fixed is the power manager, so I can control the monitor brightness again (it is set by default to mid level at the moment) but if anyone has a work around these issues (or better yet, plans to update following utilities toshiba I would like to know.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite 5200 is about 2 years old. At this time, all the tools and utilities are designed to operate correctly with delivered Windows Xp OS. As you know Windows vista for now is just a trial version and not the official market. It makes sense, than the old tools and uses can t work properly and is not a type of problem.

I put t think that Toshiba will create any type of updates for older models.

    Hello

I guess you need a driver for Vista compatible cardbus.
I noticed that Toshiba provides the Vista driver not for all Toshiba laptops.
Right now the Vista drivers are provided only for several series of laptops.

I got this Toshiba document on the support home page, and it seems that satellite M30X is not listed in the Microsoft Windows Vista support driver index ;(

I'm afraid that's true. Satellite Pro 6000 is old enough for laptop and it will not supported in Vista. Install Windows XP Home edition and enjoy your life.

  • Package of added value and Windows Vista 64-bit on Satellite P200

Hello, recently I changed Windows version of 32-bit to 64-bit. Everything works perfectly except PPV.

When I try to install it, it produces an error message that says:

    ID_ERR_NOTINSTALLTVALZ_MESSAGE

I found in some old discussions that I should update my bios, so I downloaded most recent bios, and when I tried to update, the pop-up message that I already have this version.

    I did some research and I found some drivers for the 64-bit version - [link to driver | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 152 & selProduct = 746 & selSho rtMod = null & language = 13 & selOS = 27 & selType = all & yearup load = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = al lMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = all & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = all & page = 1 & ID = 61866 & DISO = 27 & driverLanguage = 13]
and in the statement, he said that I should
"It's only the driver of value added package for 64-bit computers. Installation instructions: 1. unzip the zip-> 2. Right-click on the "TVALZ_O.INI" file-> 3. After a right-click on the file, choose "Install" from the context menu. »
But when I do that there is an error message that says that this INF file selected does not support this method of installation.
I tried to install it in safe mode, but the error is the same.

Maybe I should put these drivers in a specific location? If Yes, where?
Who can I install everything first? VAP installation for 32 bit, then driver for 64-bit? Or maybe the other way around?

If someone could write me a clear instruction how step by step, I would be really grateful.

Hmm, I wonder about this sentence
    > I've done some research and I found some drivers for the 64 bit version

What is your laptop model number? Have you chosen the right Toshiba VAP for the right notebook series?

If you have chosen the correct drivers (for the right notebook series) then try to copy the extracted files in the folder of Toshiba Value Package added to programs-> Toshiba-> Toshiba Value added Package.

Then try to run the ini file as described on the page of the European driver Toshiba.

  • Tecra M5 and Windows Vista?

We will be able to run windows vista on new Tecra M5?

    Hello

Firstly, Windows vista is not official on the market, and the Toshiba doesn't support any beta version.
In this case you can try to install your beta version, but there is no drivers for this operating system at this time. I read that Microsoft plans to release the Vista operating system in 2007.
Well, you can try to install, but you will get all the drivers.
I will also try to install a Beta version on another laptop, but he needs about 8 GB of HARD drive.

In the buttom is a buffer with the key number.

I have the CD with Vista 32 and Vista 64

    2. I would like to format the C drive.

    3. can I install Vista 64, from the CD?

    Thank you for your help

No worries. Yes, you can perform an installation of Vista with the DVDs you have. You can reformat the hard drive as part of the installation.

Before you start, go into the Device Manager to see what wireless adapter, graphics card and network card is installed and write it down. This will allow you to save time.

You will need the following DVD that you said that the laptop came with...

Operating system DVD of Windows Vista Business SP1 (64 - en)

Application and Driver Recovery DVD 32-bit and 64-bit for Windows Vista

Note the twenty five characters activation of license key before starting. Enter it on the request for the installation of Windows script. Once the installation is complete, use the disk to install the drivers. If HP Support Assistant is available on the disk driver and application, install also.
