Windows 7 backup takes too long and is too big

I tried to use backup several times now, but keep frustrated with the time it takes and the size of the backup that results.  It took exactly 13 hours and 3 minutes to save 640 Gig internal drive my laptop on my external drive freshly formatted 1 Terra.  Internal drive has only 274 used Gig, but the backup is 405 Gig; about 150% of the source! Why backup taking so long?  How can the backup be much wider than the original?

The backup being larger than the source, in my case anyway, the reason is that by default Windows Backup backs up "Files in libraries and folders for all users" and it also makes a full system image - so my user data is backed up twice.

  • Download from windows store take so long and keep the reset

I tried to install games, then on the page "installation of apps", I saw the list of the applications that I chose. But he kept saying 'pending '.

Once it starts the download... and when I accidentally close windows store and then back to installing apps, apps download status is back to "pending." And since it takes so long to complete "Download", I can't do anything other than to wait until it finishes. I have no doubt on my internet speed, I can go up to 100 kb/s or more.
Is it possible to complete the download and I still able to do anything else on my laptop?
    Thank you.

I noticed that apps download/install of the windows store will not end if the computer has windows updates waiting to be installed.

To check if there are updates that can be installed, go to the start screen. In this screen, just type the word "update". The screen will change and offshore to the right, select the option "settings". You should now see a list appear on the left, select "windows update" in the list. Now, click on the button that says check for updates now.
It may take a minute or two, and you should see points moving across the top of the screen to allow you know windows works. The end of the control, you should see purple writing that shows how many updates must be installed, or it will say "no important updates are planned to be installed." If there are updates, you can click on this text, scroll down and choose to install the update now.
Install all of the updates, restart the computer. Then try to redownload the apps from the store.

  • Time Machine 'clean up older backups' takes too long

I see that Time machine for my iMac does daily backups. Recently, he completed a backup in an hour or two. Then it does «clean up older backups...» ». Unexpectedly, it takes a lot of time, up to 6 hours. Sometimes, I need to close and stop without completing the cleaning.

    Syslog says:

05/07/16 9:32:35.518 AM com.apple.backupd [207]: deleted the backup of the Volumes/time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb/dk/2016-03-07-072332 containing 6.51 GB; Now available, 251.2 GB 529,85 GB required

    Total number of backups: 25

    An older backup: 02/08/16, 08:50

    Last backup: 29/06/16, 09:50

    Backup disk size: too small

    997,71 GB backup size < (disc 664,27 GB X 3)

The questions of the community are:

    Why cleaning taking so long?

    and

If she tries to delete older backups can just go in there (/ Volumes/Time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb/) myself to remove older archives?

NO, stay away from the database of Time Machine. Cleaning of files may take a while, but you don't have to wait until it finishes. Just stop your Mac when you want, she can continue to clean later.

  • Windows Media Player takes a long time to open and search

Slow initialization of WMP 12, research and classification.

    IM under W7 Ultimate 64.
When I start WMP12 it takes much more time to initialize that WMP11 on vista, 2 minutes before I can even start by selecting music.
If I do a search it also picks up a similar amount of time and locks (graying out, slider timer). Once I have a bunch of songs loaded on the screen, say a playlist with 200 songs and then click a tab as a note it takes 30 seconds to REList per category during this time it hangs again.
I have about 40,000 songs in my library. I have rebuilt the library and the database now resides on a second disc which did not make a difference.

    (1) what someone else with similar problems and found a solution?
    (2) is it possible to replace it with WMP11 which worked perfectly and was much more intuitive?
    (3) can anyone recommend a replacement player who has gapless playback and fast database access?

    Hi terrahertz,

Thanks for visiting the site of the community of Microsoft Windows 7.

There could be several reasons why Windows Media Player is the initialization slowly.
Maybe you run several programs simultaneously.

We will perform a clean boot to find if any software is causing incompatibility.

    Method 1: Clean clean boot:
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    The user account control permission.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type
    password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load starting points.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    8. in addition, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the software problem on your computer.
Reset the computer to start as usual

    9. When you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    10. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue. On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    11. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

Alternatively, you can try to uninstall and reinstall Media Player.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Player:
    Step 1.
    Uninstalling Windows Media Player:
    1. go to start and in the search type "Turn Windows willing or not.
    2. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
    2. go to media features and uncheck the brand in the face of Windows Media Player.
    4 restart the computer

    Step 2.
    Reinstall Windows Media Player:
    1. go to start and in the search type "Turn Windows willing or not.
    2. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
    3. find the multimedia functions and place a check mark in front of the Windows Media Player.
    4 restart the computer.

    It will be useful.

Original title: MY COMPUTER PORTABLE WINDOWS 7 TAKES FOREVER to SHUT DOWN. IVE WENT THROUGH ALL THAT ALLOWS TO MY KNOWLEDGE. HAVE INSTALLED DISKKEEPER TO DEFRAGMENT. HAVE K AND REGUALLY USING CCLEANER. CAN ANYONE HELP? ASPERSKY

MY LAPTOP HP (3 YEARS) WORKS FINE, BUT SEEMS TO BE TAKING AN AGE OF CLOSING DOWN... WAS ORIGINALLY VISTA. NOW WINDOWS 7.

  • Custom installation of Windows 7 Pro takes too long

Well, last night I was installing Windows 10, where first steps easily on the past, as in 30 minutes the computer rebooted and reached the point of preparation, with pimples circling above the line. But in the meantime Windows to boot completely, thinking that it won't be more than a few minutes, leave the laptop on battery, I fell asleep, as I was so tired. I woke up this morning to find the computer turned off. I started it. Dotted circles appeared and after some time the dialog box, to show something like "computer is suddenly off, so that Windows cannot continue the installation.

No problem, I thought, however feel bad.

    • I restarted the facility, the same box appeared.
    • I took the car and formatted the 469 GB primary partition, formatted the partition, MBR, revived the installation, the installation process ran more slowly than ever, everything as it was when I tried to install Windows 7.
    • I took out the disc and deleted all the partitions by using the Partition Wizard, revived the installation, the same. horribly slow. Now more than an hour has passed, and he exceeded not copy files.

I try to keep my wits about me, as I wonder whatever happens, whatever the change, happens to the configuration of the hard disk!

I would really appreciate if someone told me exactly how to prepare a hard drive for the custom, clean installation of Windows?

    • Here, I created a partition MBR before or during installation?
    • If Yes, then what is the size? (I think that 100 MB is standard)
    • If so, then in NTFS or FAT32?

I can't really understand why the installation process changes the way it works.

Is it possible that the information are rewritten on the installation media to cause this?

I'm asking questions, but I am open to any suggestions!

    Thank you

You confuse the Master Boot Record (MBR): https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc976786.aspx

with a score, they are not the same.

A new fresh out of the box has no MBR and no partitions. Connect it to your computer as a second drive and you will be prompted to 'Initialize' the reader. Initialization creates the Master Boot Record (but not partitions). When you install Windows partitions (C: Windows and system partitions are created). The system partition is for Windows 7 150 MB (very small partition that contains data for Startup Configuration that needs to load Windows), the Windows C: partition occupies the space remaining on your hard drive. The exceptions are HP, Dell factory installed systems, Etc. which additional scores.

So if you want to start again simply remove all the partitions that Windows created 10, the Master boot Record (MBR) will remain in the tack room.
