  So I bought a second-hand computer and it had a fresh, VALID (I checked) installation of windows. I bought it as a Christmas present initially (in October). When I went to use the morning of Christmas, I received the following error message:

  I have no idea what that means, I tried activationg it online, over the phone with Ms tech support and using the product key using MagicalJellyBean Keyfinder, all with no result. After a month or two, the error message and the background black screen message will disappear, and when I go into the properties of the computer, it says that I have 30 days to activate Windows again. Currently, the error message is not displayed, and it said that I left the 15 days to activate. The error message will disappear has happened three times now. What should I do?

  The 0x8007251D error code suggests that you have a Volume license key, which is not the standard for computers of home users.

• Windows 7 Build 7601 no real error

  Get the black screen with Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine.

  Used for about a week, worked well, and had made several rounds of Windows Update, no problem.  Other MS updates (mainly associated offices) took place Saturday, and updates correctly installed, but followed this message not authentic.

  Dell laptop is refurbished and had not been activated by the new owner before the start of this problem.  No activation or code statement has been included in the package.  Now, the activation process does not work with key code located in the battery compartment.  He gave the Code: 0x8004F903 installation Code: ITF (0x04) and Setup error: 0xF903(63747L).  I also noticed that on the page of the system down to Windows activation it says not available status and product ID: not available.

  I'm back from vacation Saturday last to find that my PC all gummed up with over 40% of memory used and the following message appears on the desktop:

  "Windows 7 Build 7601, this copy of Windows is not genuine."

  Up to 3 weeks for the two previous years, it wasn't a problem.

  I have buy windows 7 with the Acer laptop to amazon.co.uk 2 years ago.

  According to the sticker on the base of the laptop, it is most certainly a genuine copy of Windows 7.

  I tried to run the slui.exe but no avail and using the tools on the web that offer Microsoft - validate online, etc., but all without success.

  As a simple user, dependent on automatic updates, etc. and very satisfied with W7 until 2 weeks ago I need someone to solve this problem for me.

  There seems to be multiple i/o on drive C: errors - this would tend to indicate the alteration of the drive or a drive failed.

  Run a full scan of CHKDSK and SFC...

  Click Start > all programs > Accessories

  Right-click on the entry of the command line

  Select run as administrator and accept the UAC - elevated command prompt window prompt should appear.

  At the command prompt, type

  CHKDSK C: /R

  and press the Enter key.

  We'll tell you that the disc is locked,

  I reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium on my computer 2 months ago and had no problems until last night when the wallpaper turned black and in the corner it says Windows 7 Build 7601, this copy of Windows is not genuine.  My copy is authentic then when I'm go to type in my cd key to activate once again he gave me error 0xC004F063 code, saying that the Software Licensing Service reported that the BIOS is missing a required license.

  I did not any changes to my computer in terms of hardware.  I also ran a diagnostic report, as suggested, on similar topics. As a student, I use my computer laptop a lot for my work (and with a deadline tomorrow I'm panicking a lot) then I would be really grateful to anyone who can help me solve this problem.

  Edit * I think I must insist on this point since many places say to activate by phone, my phone is a Samsung Q330 laptop and as such, I've noticed that it does not come with many features of Windows that would probably be available for others.  Run slui.exe 4 does not open a box for me that allows me to choose a country for the activation of the phone (see below).  And cannot not get me other ways to activate when I go into the properties of the computer.

  Then I tried to activate by phone you said but when you run slui.exe 4, all I get are the options:

  (1) buy a new product key online
  (2) type a different product key (which brings back me to the starting point)

  This is a normal behavior for an OEM SLP key. It will not work until your product key is changed.
  Also can I ask why so many people seems to be to get this problem too, even when their is real as well?

  Yesterday a notice appeared on the lower right of my saying (black screen) desktop "Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine." The computer is a Dell XPS1702x I bought the 29/08/2011 and never had a problem before. I have two drives to Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 Professional Plus, that are installed on the system.   I have had my HP laptop about 5 years and have logged on tonight and like others, I get the message; Windows 7 build 7601 this copy of windows is not genuine.

  I have installed new software, but windows has recently completed an update?

  I also looked on the bottom of the laptop for the original key code. However, he obviously has disappeared over the years and is now unreadable. Teach me to retain in the future.

• "Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine" and the slow boot after malware removal

  HP Pavilion dm4 my daughter recently started to take about 10-15 minutes to start, tell me that he had become infected by something questionable. It is currently running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, with AVG free anti-virus.

  When we noticed the problem first, AVG has been disabled (probably by malware), and I could not turn it back on. He would not run a scan at all. I have scanned it with Norton Power Eraser and their free bootable scanner, nor identified any problems. I ran Malwarebytes in safe mode, and it found several files associated with Yontoo, which he deleted. I ran ccleaner, including the registry cleaner. At this time, AVG was returned to service, so I ran a full scan with it. AVG found several files associated with OpenCandy, which he deleted. A scan later Malwarebytes came clean.

  For now, the system seems to work fine, EXCEPT: there are still a huge amount of time to start - several minutes between each step. And now, the desktop appear intermittently a message which reads: "Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine".

  I found a lot of discussion online about this error message, but it seems that each of them (which I reviewed) has a different twist to what I feel.

  Any suggestions for next steps? Thanks in advance.

  When you have recovered your data files you can restore settings.
