I get this error: "firewall Windows cannot change some of your settings. Error code 0 x 80070424"when I try to turn on the Windows Firewall (Windows 7).  I am also unable to start my computer in safe mode.  My computer has been infected by the virus 'Win 7 Security 2012', which is what caused this damage to my system.  The virus also seems to have removed all the system restore points before the infection!  I believe that I have the virus completely deleted.  I used Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, Kapersky Virus Removal Tool, antivirus Ati Avira (anti-virus program I was running when my computer has been infected by the virus) & Microsoft Security Essentials.  I ran the Scan SFC, a tool for emergency response Microsoft Support, Microsoft FixIt, ComboFix, & Tweaking.com Windows Repair all-in-One.  Repair Windows Tweaking.com seems to be turned Action Center back, where I now get a message that: "Windows Defender is turned off" & it does not seem to recognize MSE as my anti-virus program.  I need to know how to get Windows Firewall works again & get Action Center working properly again.  My computer has a partition with my Windows Recovery on it, but since I can't start in safe mode, I can not also start the restore partition to do a "repair" install, or even restore to factory settings!  Can anyone help?

Also, when I use a search engine on internet, I get re-directed to a site that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the result of the research, and I click on... I am not that so that is proof that the virus is not COMPLETELY gone or not.

I have recently updated from vista to Windows 7 and now I press F8 during the restart of my pc and access the repair mode option configure initial Setup no longer, even if the files on the second partition of HARD drive for this purpose remain there and intact

I also made a recovery CD using the software provided, Toshiba, just in case but that doesn't seem to work either, or am I missing some piece of software so that it can work?

Please help, I need this place and works with emergency

    > I have recently updated from vista to Windows 7 and now I press F8 during the restart of my pc and access the repair mode option configure initial Setup no longer, even if the files on the second partition of HARD drive for this purpose remain there and intact

I guess the Win 7 update has changed the Boot Manager and this is why this option does not appear in any case.
The Toshiba Recovery disk that you have created can help you restore the laptop back to factory settings. But this means that the HARD drive all over would be formatted again and you will lose the Win 7 again.

To start the installation of the recovery disk, you must start from this drive and will have to follow the news on the screen.

Boot Windows, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type compmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.  Click on management of the disks in the left pane and when loaded partitions, make a right click of the recovery Partition and mark it as 'active '.  Close all open windows and then restart - if it worked, the laptop boot from the recovery Partition during the restart.

    Let me know.

  • When I'm not a recovery to factory settings.

I can't recover after recovering accidentally to the factory instead of more recent recovery settings

    N °

Once you do a restore to factory settings, you can not back.

This isn't like the system restore.

If you have lost data, you can try this:

If you have an installation clean back to factory settings, you normally wiped your hard drive clean during the process.

    You can try this program:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/Recuva.html

Recuva is a file undeletion tool that allows you to analyze your hard drives or media cards for files that have been deleted or formatted. It presents you a list of files that have been found, as well as an assessment of their potential for recovery, a preview option, and a hex viewer to inspect the content. You can limit your search to files of a certain type (e.g. images, audio etc.) and choose between a quick and a thorough analysis approach. The program also includes a secure deletion option that allows you to permanently delete files that were found while parsing, to avoid any future recoveries.

  • DV8P recovery Image (factory settings)

I'm fallen on the BSOD problem a few months ago and only managed to solve this recently, however, by using a DV11P recovery image to restore my DV8P, but I would feel much safer if I could restore the original factory settings/files DV8P, the problem is, I don't have a recovery partition.

Could someone Please provide me with a copy or a link to a picture of recovery of original DV8P 5830 32 GB 32-bit Windows 8.1. It would be much appreciated.

  • Satellite C850D - error 10-FC12_045D during recovery to factory settings

    Hello

I own a C850D satellite with Win7 64-bit, and for several days, the system became extremely slow and inadmissible. I first thought of a virus so I started it in integrated security mode and running antivirus (MS security essentials), another analysis has been made to a live CD antivirus Kapersky but no virus was detected.

I took the decision to restore the whole system parameters according to the instructions of the user manual, and the restore process will fail with an error 10-FC12-045D.

I suspect that the cause is a faulty hard drive. 2 quesntions:

    1. can anyone confirm this diagnosis? Should I seek other ways to diagnose a hardware problem on this laptop?
2 - if it is confirmed that the HARD drive is broken, as I suspect, what is the process to get a new one and reinstall the OS Win7 to factory settings? I don't have any recovery media.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Yves.

    Hello

If your laptop still has factory settings follow the user s manuals recommendation and create recovery discs. Test you like these discs and try to install the recovery image. If the same problem occurs again and again I m afraid HDD can be the troublemaker.

I put t know if the warranty is still valid, but I recommend you to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and ask for help. Addresses and phone numbers, you can find on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

  • Pavilion 17-e019dx Windows 8 guard reset itself to factory settings removes EVERYTHING! :(

Hi everyone, I really need the helpful comments here, I m going crazy!

I bought this computer HP Pavilion 17 laptop-e019dx at best buy not long... already have a problem with a windows 8.1 update, but anyway...

I did a system restore and it is up to windows 8, fine, then all of a sudden I turn the laptop on another day, and without warning it resets to factory settings ... no account picture, no wallpaper, dates back to Bing is the default, the screen has IE search engine, File Explorer, store and office on it and nothing else... all my settings and customization is gone... but more importantly ALL MY pictures, videos, music, and all files are GONE!  SO FRUSTRATING!

After MANY hours (a few days), I was able to recover most of the pictures which is what I've really supported on most. Saved USB´s, disks and creates a new partition ¨ Local disk (D ¨ where I saved all my files.) When the system resets itself, it resets only Local disc c, so my files are in D:... I can go back to everything being the same accomplishment the thing to restore the whole system again... but 1 or 2 days later, it resets everything new and need to start as if I just opened it from its box... non-stop... very frustrating because it takes time to restore and do not know it s good to continue to do that on the computer...

Sorry for the long story, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello kcno58. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. I understand that the computer itself restores the default settings. I will do my best to help you!

You have a program installed before other troubleshooting, named 'Deep Freeze' procedures. It is a program which will reinstall the operating system, once the computer is turned on, sometimes. For more information on this program, please see this site: Deep Freeze (software)

If this isn't the case, I would make a repair of the operating system. To do this, follow these steps:

1 turn on the computer with the installation DVD or USB. Then, start Windows 8 with him.

    2. follow all the instructions until you see "Repair your computer" and select "troubleshooting."

    3. go to "Advanced Options", select "Automatic repair" and the operating system.

Now, the operating system to repair itself. Once this is done, please let me know the results. I'm only here to help!

  • Cannot restore to the factory settings

I have the Acer Aspire 7741z laptop. The computer has frequent problems, and I want to restore it defaults. I've already saved important files and had planned to do a full restore to the factory settings, but the eRecovery program does not work for me. It starts the process, says that it needs to restart, check I want to replace the data on the hard drive and restarts. The problem is, it just restarts. No recovery process, no reset factory default. Alt + F10 during boot process does nothing.

I checked the partitions still exist, and I made no changes to the system since the purchase (about formats, etc.). Of course, I'm no longer under warranty period, it seems getting direct support from Acer is not going to happen.

If anyone can help? I really want to restore this laptop to its default settings.

  • Qosmio F60 - 14Q: after recovery to factory settings, don't be loading not windows?

I have a Qosmio, F60 - 14 Q, yesterday, I got an error "Windows has detected a hard disk problem. I contacted Toshiba support who advised me to run checkdisk which I did and 1 bad cluster was found, but the problem has not disappeared.

Then they advised me to get back to the factory setting and save before I do, then I made backup and also made a recovery CD. Then I ran the Setup program that went well, but windows has not been loaded and blue screen came.

It restarted again and request to insert a CD while I inserted the cd of restoration which lead me to the same place that I ran from recovery. The difference being it did not run this time when I tried?

I think that it does not detect the hard disk, any help would be appreciated.

    > I think that it does not detect the hard disk, any help would be appreciated.
You can see the details of the HARD drive in the BIOS?
Verify that access to the BIOS (press F2 during boot) and the details of the HARD drive must be mentioned on the first page.

If the HARD drive is not... Well then the HARD drive is faulty

  • 0x8007042c error code: "Windows Firewall cannot change some of your settings.

On this subject, I've seen the thread of Nov - Dec 2009. There was no alternative to then to reinstall Windows.  They mentioned the c:\windows\system32\drivers\mdsdrv.sys as file being missing.  Is it possible to get this driver and fix the problem?. Or is there a new fix for 2009?

A lot has happened since your response on Dec 14.  I tried your last two suggestions without success.  Finally I got to the store (Best Buy). They spent more than a week to repair.  Apparently, they found a number of damaged system files. They finally got it fixed. I brought home, and it seems to work fine for less than a day, then the same problems.

I got to Best Buy, and this time they completely erasing the hard disk and restored the computer to the factory State. Don't really know what caused the problem.
