  If you have downloaded the Setup file of the CS6 D & W Premium is an .exe file, you can not use it on a Mac. Mac files are .dmg installers.

  I'm not sure why Adobe says Customer Service it is compatible - unless you are eligible to download the two Win / Mac versions of your licensing portal - which is always the case especially.

  The reason why they give the option Mac and PC - buttons series differ for both platforms. In addition, the installer itself is different.

  Usually, when you are ordering for a Mac version of any app (in my case, I've lived on Volume License Portal), your portal will give you both .dmg and .exe installers. First, if you download the .dmg file, your .exe file is removed the Licensing Portal. However, the serial keys will be available for Windows and PC versions.

  Check your setup file downloaded to make sure they're .dmg. If they are not, you may need to connect to the page where you downloaded to see if you can download the .dmg version to install on Mac.

  Any version of Windows 7 would be better for your PC.

  If you have 4 GB or the physical memory installed, I would opt for the 32-bit version.

  If you plan to add memory beyond 4 GB so that you would get the 64 bit version.

  Note: a chip memory 4 GB DDR2 is more expensive than $100 USD today.

  I love Windows 7 Pro myself.

  I would not use additional features in W7 Ultmate.

  My opinion: it didn't.  It is a worthless utility that gives inexperienced users of false security.  As it is with all that is complicated (with so many variables) as the upgrade a computer operating system that needs to interact with a possible combination of millions of different hardware components in probably as many sellers as well as many software available in any variety of versions, the installation order, etc. - each individual will have to check on their own stuff to check everything they have is ready/compatible on a per article basis.
   
  I said for more than a decade now in these forums (and the previous discussion groups.)  If you want it well done, you do it yourself and you ask people trust you for assistance.  You can * tell * trust you Microsoft, Intuit, Adobe, Apple, etc. - but do you really?  No. you're more likely to come to a place like this with people like you and ask for help.  Google what they say, how many people are in agreement and then... go with it or ignore it.

  There is absolutely no sense. Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Unix are operating systems . Microsoft Office is a suite of applications that run on Windows, Unix. And RAM is hardware - Random Access Memory - no software. So RAM is not a part of XP, Vista, or Unix Although computers running these operating systems must RAM installed in order to work.

  Yes, Photoshop CS5 (and CS5.1) work fine on Windows 8 and 8.1.  I run it myself (as well as other versions going the way back) on Windows 8.1 now.

  If you want to upgrade to Windows 8 should be based on other factors, however.  It's a market flop.  Many conscientious people choose to stay on Windows 7 because it is more oriented to the serious and professional computing.  Windows 8 has taken off in the sense of being a toy.  It can be reconfigured, tweaked and enhanced with 3rd party software to make it more serious - I did - but it took all my skills to do, and I'm a software engineer career.

  If you go down the road of Windows 8, I wrote a book called 'Configure the Options of Windows 8 "on the job" ' on how to implement serious computing.
