Windows 7 Home Premium, connection to a printer on a router

Hello

I recently bought D-Link (DSL-2750U) router. I have two laptops, one running XP and the other under Win 7 HP. I have connected my Canon MP250 printer to the router and could add a network printer on the XP laptop. I was able to print correctly.
However, when I do the same configuration on my Win 7 and try to print, the printer says "Winding" for awhile and then it comes up with "Printer busy/Error" on the print queue window.
I am running McAffee antivirus and tried disabling the firewall as well, but nothing helped. Any help is deeply appreciated in this regard that it is driving me crazy!
Thank you
Arun

Here are my suggestions, even if I do not have very high probability that it will work:

  1. Remove the MP250 of devices and printers
  2. Click on one of the other printers (any) then click on the "Print server properties" button that appears in the bar next to "add a printer".
  3. Select the "Ports" tab and remove any port is 192.168.1.1 (with or without: 631 or: 631\printer\MP250)
  4. Follow steps 1 to 7 of my previous post
  5. After clicking on 'Next' to step 7, the system will search for a minute or two and then the next screen:

  6. Select the "Custom" radio button and click the button "settings".  The following screen appears:
  7. Let the radio button for 'Raw' selected, but replace the 'Port number' under 'Settings Raw' 9100 631.
  8. Click OK.  What is going on?
  9. If this does not work and you get the same than before error condition, return to devices and printers, right-click on the icon for the MP250, select 'Properties of the printer.' click the "Ports" tab and then click on "Set up the Port."  Replace the "Port number" of 631 631 / printer / MP250 and then click OK
  10. If step 9 does not work, I am ideas.  In this case, I suggest that you contact D-Link and ask them how to use the functionality of print server in the LAN-2750U in Windows 7.  This model does not seem to be sold to the United States if you're in India, you can try emailing helpdesk at THE dlink.co.in (as normal email addresses will be automatically deleted by the forum software).

I have 3 (2 Windows Vista and Windows XP) computers networked through a router.  I have all three computers put in place for sharing files and printers.  I can 'ping', two of the computers to the router and get a satisfactory answer.  My new Windows 7 Home Premium system expires when you ping the router.  It seems that a port entering the Windows 7 Home Premium system blocks all incoming traffic.  Is there a 'port' that I have to open until my other computers can access the Windows 7 Home Premium system?

  • Connect a printer HP Laserjet 4 parallel via USB using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - HELP!

I have a new Dell PC (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) that does not have a parallel port to connect an old HP Laserjet 4 printer.  I bought a USB to parallel to connect the PC to the printer.  When turn on/off the printer, W7 installed an IEEE-1284 controller that appears in the unspecified list of devices in the control panel.  I "Has added a new printer", select "USB001 virtual printer USB port", then choose the correct printer driver (after "Windows Update" get a longer list).  When you try to print a test page, the 'ready' light on the printer starts to print, but nothing else happens.

After experimenting with different settings, I was able to get a page to print that says "* s1M.  I don't know how it happened or what it means.  This suggests that the PC is 'talk' to the printer.  However, I was unable to reproduce this.

You do not have a parallel port on the machine.  Whatever it is sent to the parallel port device should fail on writing.   Change the port to the port of USB00n, created when you plugged the cable.  You will see the port listed in the list of ports.  This will usually USB001 when you have not all printers attached otherUSB. Previously, I had Window Vista downloaded on my laptop and had NO problem printing wireless. Now I have Windows 7 Home Premium. Hello Charlie, and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I see that you are having problems printing.  I would like to help.

I would say uninstalling the software of the printer.

Once it is uninstalled, I suggest you put your system in clean boot mode in the configuration of Microsoft.  You can do this by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest to reinstall the HP printer install wizard for Windows.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Remote Desktop connection: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit connects to the computer of Windows XP VPN

    Hi all

I am trying to establish remote desktop TO my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) on my computer (Windows XP) work via a VPN. The VPN Client connects to my network to work with no problems, but when I try to use the remote desktop connection I get an error message:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled

    (2) the remote computer is disabled

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

Items 1-3 are working well, so I guess that the problem is caused by another issue?
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Thank you

Thanks for your response Al. To answer your qus:
    (1) cisco VPN Client for 64 - bit.

    (2) I don't know how to ping through the VPN tunnel - I don't see this option, anywhere in the Cisco customer (I'm not a professional, just a user)
    (3) Yes. Also, I can connect to the host PC via my old laptop XP (xp) of fine House, just not my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) so the problem must be with my new laptop rather than at the end of the host PC.

After that you connect through the VPN tunnel open a command window, IE. go in Start > run , then type cmdand type ping DRC-hostname or IP-address-DRC ping.

    Examples:

    Ping lou - pc

    ping 192.168.1.25

Just for fun, I checked the hashes of file for the file mstsc.exe on the Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine and a machine Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit I have and hashes were a bit different as the size of the files. The versions of the files are the same though. I assume that the difference is because we're 64-bit to 32...

    Ludovic pokora

    Hi Ludovic,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused due to updates.

I suggest that you want to run auto repair with installation media and see if it helps you repair system files or not. For the execution of the task, I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps.

Method 1: When you use the recovery environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot startup issues, first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If this does not resolve the problem, or if you have additional problems manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool.

Because you cannot start the computer, you may need to create a bootable Windows installation media, and then do an auto repair, and if this does not help then you try to restore your computer to the previous date.

Note: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

If you are using Windows 7 then the link provided below might help you to download and create installation media.

Download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files)

Method 2: If the problem persists, try to rebuild the BCD by using the Bootrec.exe tool. To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows recovery environment (Windows RE) . To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Place the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. Press a key when you are prompted. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
    3. Click repair your computer.
    4. Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.
    6. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

See the following link for more information:

How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/927392

Method 3: If after performing the above steps, you are able to start the computer and access the desktop then try to Uninstall KB3097877 update if it is installed, and then reinstall it.

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium Wifi grey symbol with a star yellow but fully connected to the internet.

Windows 7 Home Premium Wifi grey symbol with a star yellow but fully connected to the internet.

Have been able to fix it by uninstalling the driver wireless and re - install, but when the system is restarted it then returns to the same problem.  Tried to remove the data of the registry key 'TrayNotify' windows and stopping the same tried to remove "explorer.exe" and replace "explorer.exe".. even goes back to the same problem.

It is likely that your computer sees and is seen by your router.  Gold Star means that it is connected, but the router will not assign an IP address to access the Internet.

This is usually caused by a code password incorrectly stored (on your computer).

Click on this icon.  Find your network.  Remove it from the list.  Now, after a small wait, click this icon again.  It should detect your network and ask for the password.  If you have entered the right code, it should connect you.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, then it is likely that you would have a problem with your router - it might be inside a separate device or your modem.

A restart of the modem and router can help.  Pull the plug on the modem and the router.  Wait 30 seconds.  Put the plug in the modem only.  Wait 30 seconds.  Put the plug in the router.  Wait 2 minutes.  If she can still connect, try re-booting the computer.
